Chapter 31 - Chapter 1

"Okay, Yumi and Amaya. It was a blast meeting you all for the first time. I can't wait to see both of you next time." my mother stated while waving at Ayumi and her aunt. "I am glad to see the person who raised the awesome boy that makes my niece happy!" she replied while hugging me tightly. After doing so we parted ways. While walking home, me and my mother started a conversation. "So where did you guys first meet?" "Well, the day that I was caught up in bad weather, she was also in the building I sheltered in. Anything else you would like to know Mom?"

She shook her head but then she asked me about Alexander and Samantha. "Where did Alexander and Samantha go? I wished I could talk to them." "Sam got mad when Alex was talking to the girls in church and stormed off after they argued a bit." "Damn! What did Alexander do." "After he figured out that she liked him, he went after her but I haven't heard from them what happened so I'm not sure what went down." "I hope they get together." "Me too. I'll call them when we get home. The conversation went on for about ten to fifteen minutes and then ended as we got home

The aroma from the kitchen after a couple hours had me thinking I was in heaven. I actually forgot how good my mother's cooking was until now. I thanked the Lord for my food and then proceeded to stretch my bones at the nearby park. I had brought my basketball with me and was practicing my skills until I heard my phone ringing. It was a group call from Ayumi, Alexander and Samantha. "Hello guys. What's up?" I answered. "Well Alex and I finally got some time to talk and we've decided that we will be together from today." Samantha explained. "Is this true Alex?" Ayumi asked. "Yeah, it is. We have even got our first kiss you know. I'm still processing things right now but I know today is one of the most special days in my life."

"I'm so glad that you guys are finally together." "I agree with Ken. We should celebrate. Only if you two are up to it of course." "How about it Sam? Want to head somewhere nice? My treat of course." "Well, how could I pass down such an offer? Let's do it!" We were so excited to go out together. This would be the first time any of the four of us attended a double date. We discussed our plans as a grand decided on a place. "So, we're going to do some karaoke. Why are we doing this again?" Samantha wondered. "Well, we all thought we could work on our singing, you know. Right Yumi and Ken." The two of us nodded in response while our desires were written all over their faces.

"Fine, but only under one condition. It will be girls versus boys." "How is that a fair woman? Anyone on your team automatically wins." Alexander replied instantly to Samantha. "If you want to force me to use my awesome voice, you got to do something too," she responded flirtatiously. "I see. You should have said something sooner babes." I couldn't hold back my giggling. "What is so funny Ken?" "Yeah, what is so funny dude?" "Just yesterday the two of you were at each other's throats and now y'all are saying some of the most cringe stuff to each other. I find it hilarious." I justified. "Yumi we're not being cringed right?" she asked but was met with complete and total silence.

"Don't worry Sam. They're just jealous of us." "That could be a possibility." "It's definitely not the case buddy," I said in defending myself and my amazing girlfriend. "If that is so the bro, then you wouldn't mind showing us how you flirt with Yumi?" Alexander insisted. "Fine," I took a deep breath and then said, "Yumi, this world may be a big place with billions of people but your heart is way bigger and I'd rather live rent-free in it." The the call went silent immediately. "Are you guys still there?" I asked wondering if it was so bad that they didn't know how to respond. "I guess I was cringe as well Alex," I said admitting defeat.

"THAT, THAT WAS THAT WAS SO, THAT WAS SO SWEET!" Samantha expressed while failing to hold in her admiration. "It was? I thought it was a bit too much you know." "NAH BRO! HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL ME YOU HAVE THIS MUCH GAME AND RIZZ? I WAS SO FUCKING SURPRISED! TEACH ME TO BE LIKE YOU BRO! LIKE THIS INSTANT! LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL!" He continued to beg for my help explaining how he had trouble expressing his thoughts so I agreed to help him out. After some time I acknowledged something important. All of that time she was silent. "Yumi, are you okay?" "I, I have to leave." She left the call so abruptly that it made me worry.

*POV CHANGE TO AYUMI*

"I swear that knows exactly how to make my heart flutter. Like what was that?" I put my hand on my chest and I could feel my heart beating rapidly. I planted my head into my soft pillow. "How can he be so confident while saying words like that? Meanwhile, I have never said something so bold in my life." I ended up grunting while trying to muffle the sounds with my pillow. "Ayumi! Are you okay in there?" my aunt asked with concern being present in her voice. "I'm fine Amaya, just a bit flustered," I responded. "It must have been Kennedy. I really want to know more about this but I doubt she will say anymore even if I try to force it out of her." she pondered.

Time flew and it was nighttime. I didn't receive any messages from him so I thought I would message him but I still hadn't recovered fully from his words. So I decided to head straight to sleep. Unfortunately, I found myself in a worse situation. I was in a room that seemed so familiar to me. Then I saw the kid version of me in the kitchen trying to light the stove. I immediately knew what was going on. I rushed trying to stop here to put down the lighter but I was too late. The kitchen was engulfed in flame. I tried picking her up to carry her to our parents but I just went straight through her. I tried getting her attention afterwards but it seemed like she could not hear me. "DADDY!" I could hear someone rushing to the kitchen and it was our father. He picked younger me up and rushed her to the neighbor's house. "Stay here sweetie, I'll go and try to get mom and some things before the house fully burns down." "Don't go, daddy!" "Don't worry Ayumi. I'll be out in a flash. He rushed into the house but it was too late. Just after she got back in there was an explosion. It seemed that the fire had reached the gas bottle. I could hear sirens but that didn't bring me any hope since I knew it was already over. They ended up putting out the fire and then headed inside. They brought an adult male and woman whose skin was burnt severely. Younger me ran to him and confirmed that it was indeed our father. She ended up bawling her heart out as they carried our parent's corpses away.
