Chapter 25 - Finally. We found Dick.

With the Aevis in front leading the way, Hades in the middle and myself bringing up the rear, we made our way through the underground tunnels. Forking left and right and left again, it seemed like we were walking for about 30 some odd minutes before we reached a large cement door with a keypad the size of a small notebook to the right of it.

"Does this man really have some kind of bunker down here?" I turned to Hades, "Is he really that scared of death?"

To me, death seemed inevitable. It was something everyone had to do. What's the point of fearing it when it was going to come for you one way or the other? When your time is up, it's up, that's just the fact of life.

"How we gonna do this?" Hades asked me.

It's not like we could just go up and knock. We would have to sneak in somehow. Then I remembered I had a lock breaker in my bag.

I threw my backpack on the ground and started rummaging, after I found it I stuck it next to the keypad on the locked door and hit a few buttons. After three seconds, a click was heard.

Then alarms.

We weren't making it a surprise now.

Thanks a lot Dick.

The Aevis turned and ran, disappearing into a wall. Hades shouted a quick "Thank you!" at it before it completely disappeared.

Always so polite, weirdo.

I grasped my handgun and started making my way through the bunker. Hades followed close behind me and we cleared it room by room. The bunker wasn't very big, four rooms in total. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were all clear. That left the fourth room. As soon as I poked my head around the corner I saw what looked to be an armory. I felt a whizzing past my ear. This fucker is shooting at me!

I spun around and put my back flat against the wall next to the door. Hades was on the other side. He looked at me, and I looked at him. We spoke to each other without words.

We both reached in our back pockets and grabbed something that looked like a coin. We put the coin directly in the center of our chest and it dug almost microscopic sharp arms into our skin, then we pressed the button.

Within a matter of seconds, a mesh looking lining covered our entire bodies head to toe. Think of chainmail, only so tiny and sheer you can barely see it.

We walked into that room, Richard shooting at us nonstop, and the bullets ricocheted with each shot, embedding themselves into the walls around us. I walked straight up to him as he was aiming directly at my face, hands shaking, and grabbed the gun straight from his hands and tossed it to the side. I pointed my gun at his face instead and was about to fire when Hades interrupted me.

"Wait!" He said. "We're supposed to bring him in alive, remember?"

"Goddammit. I forgot about that. Why are you ruining all my fun?"
