Chapter 18 - The Siege of Atlantis (Part 1)

The Man:

"Aahhh!"

With Superman's heat vision and Hal's power ring, Professor Ivo's Android hits me back to Atlantis. Breaking through one of the glass domes and into a room, I backflip through the air before landing on my feet and catching myself.

Wiping the water from my sunglasses, I look back up at the Android flying through the hole in the glass dome, before large, golden shutters appear, growing from the bottom and sealing the entire dome, stopping any more water from rushing in.

"Android," I yell, "Why are you here, and helping Superman? Explain your logic to me."

For some reason, the Android isn't speaking to me. Despite not having a mouth, I know from experience that the Android can talk, and even has the power of telepathy, yet when I try to listen to him, I don't hear anything.

"Something is wrong. Could Superman be somehow controlling the Android? With Brainiac's technology, it could be possible. But still, the amount of sheer willpower needed to overcome the Android's own mind. Then again, if Superman has one thing, it's willpower."

The Android takes a step toward me before using Flash's speed to charge at me. Hitting me with his shoulder, I'm thrown into the air again. Landing on the cold, wet floor, I turn over and look up just in time to see the Android already standing over me. Pulling back its arm, the Android throws it forward.

Moving fast, I kick the Android from the side, throwing him off balance. Instead of hitting me, the Android punches the floor instead, the sound of the metal bending echoing in my ears. Snapping my hand, a kunai appears in it, which I then use to stab the Android in his waist.

The Android looks down at the kunai embedded in his waist before looking back at me.

"Give it a second," I say, "That's a custom-made kunai right there."

A second later, my kunai explodes, turning into a fireball that kicks the Android across the room. Jumping into the air, I land back on my feet, snap my hands again, and call forth my twin swords.

The Android catches himself after stumbling. He looks down at his waist and sees his body quickly recovering from my explosive kunai. I watch too as, after a large chunk of his golden body is destroyed by the fireball, the nanites that make up his body quickly split apart and spread out, pulling themselves together to reform the lost chunk. Once Android recovers, he then looks at me.

"No power detected," Android says, finally saying something.

"Yeah," I say, raising my swords and hiding a small smile. "You're right. I have no power."

The Android throws himself at me. Again, using Flash's speed, he charges toward me, running across the room at an incredible speed. However, before he can hit me, I jump and roll, swinging my sword and slicing the leg of the Android. The Android falls to the ground, splashing as it slides across the room and hits the glass dome, shattering part of it.

The Android's red eyes go wide as he looks at his cut-off leg, roughly ten feet away from him. He quickly regrows his leg and pushes himself up before looking at me again. Despite the distance, I can easily tell from the Android's eyes that he is scanning me again.

"Now power detected," the Android repeats.

The Android, now using Superman's speed and flight, rockets toward me. Pulling back his hands, the Android forms Hawkgirl's mace with his nanites. He slams his newly formed mace down on me, but crossing my swords together, I block the Android's attack. He uses Superman's and Wonder Woman's strength to push down, but again, I kick him in the side, knocking him to the side. Moving fast, I perform a roundhouse kick, hitting the Android in his face and stunning him again. As the Android stumbles, I run toward him before swinging my swords.

Slicing off both the Android's arms, his chest, one leg, and finally, his head, I watch as all the pieces of the Android fall to the floor. Swinging my swords around, I push the button and watch as the blades fold in on themselves, before sliding into the small, black handles. Pocketing the handles, I run to the massive doors and try to push them open. However, the doors stay shut.

"Darn. The whole dome must be closed off to prevent flooding."

Looking around, I see a control panel nearby and walk over to it. Snapping my wrist, I use a kunai to pry the cover off. Examining the wires and circuitry, I quickly cut one of the wires. Hearing a click, I pocket my kunai.

"I need to go and check on the others."

Running toward the open doors, about to leave the room, I stop when a circle of golden light appears before me. The Android materializes in the circle of light, with his arms, legs, and head reattached. The Android stomps toward me, his footstep shaking the whole room as he walks.

"No power detected," the Android repeats. "No power detected. No power detected! No power--"

Taking in a deep breath, I then yell, unleashing a sonic scream. My sonic scream hits the Android, throwing him into a wall.

"Arrggghhhh!"

Shouting at full volume, my voice causes not only the room, but also the hallways to shake. Cracks begin to form in everything. The metal shutters start to break, and ocean water leaks in. The golden hallways bounce up and down as little bits of rock fall off them. The Android himself is sparking as I walk up to him, still shouting.

His eyes are flashing between red and black. He tries using Superman's heat vision, Hal's power ring, and even Flash's speed to escape, but every time he moves, I yell and shove him further into the wall. His eyes flashing even faster, and switching between different powers, the Android finally comes to a stop. His eyes stay black, but his body is still sparking. Stepping back, I watch as the Android falls to his knees before falling flat onto the floor.

Looking at the Android as he stays down, I move fast and pull out a kunai. Taking a small piece of his nanite body, I pocket it and my kunai before leaving to find the others.

The Android:

"....No...power...detected....."

The Flash:

Screaming as I run, I rush past a group of One Earth soldiers, punching them across the face and knocking them into the air. The soldiers scream as they hit the glass wall and slide down, unconscious. Skidding to a stop, I turn and look at the others.

"Harleen," I shout, placing my fingers against my earpiece. "How are the Atlantaean? Are they okay?"

"Calm down, Scarlett Speedster," Harleen answers. "The fish people are okay."

"Okay, is the room--"

"Wait, wait, wait. Give me a second!"

I jump when Harleen fires her gun.

"Harleen? Harleen! Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Like I said, calm down, Speedy. We're all okay."

"Is the room--"

"The room is still sealed. Jaime, Firestorm, and I have the room on lockdown. There will be no fish frying today. How are you and others?"

About to answer Harleen, I stop when I hear a loud crashing sound. Turning, I see another pod breaking into the hallway. The doors slide open, and another group of betas with their hands up enters the hallway.

"We're fine!"

Lowering my hand, I crack my neck before charging toward the betas. Using my speed, I run around them before they can pull me with their grappling hook. Grabbing and twisting a few heads, I then grab one's beta hand and aim it at itself. As the hook shoots out its palm, it hits the beta in its head, destroying it. Dismantling and destroying the whole group in under ten seconds, I skid to another stop.

Looking around, my head snapping left and right, I run down another hallway and into a large empty room. There, I see Oliver with Cheetah and Red Hood, battling a large group of betas and One Earth soldiers. Moving fast, I run circles around the group, punching the soldiers while turning the betas into scrap metal. Stomping on a beta's head, I look at the three.

"Barry," Oliver shouts. "Did you find them?"

"No. I still haven't been able to find The Man or Supergirl."

"Well, keep looking," Cheetah orders. "There are too many soldiers and betas for us to keep fighting."

"Cheetah is right," Red Hood adds, reloading his dual guns. "We're going to need backup. Especially considering Bane is here."

"Bane," I repeat.

"I doubt Bane is the only regime Superman sent."

As if on cue, large, green roots sprout up from the floor. They move fast, wrapping around Oliver, Cheetah, and Red Hood. Using my speed, I jump back before they can capture me, too.

Turning around, I see Felix Faust.
