Chapter 27 - The Second Task

Kaiser looked at the time, and a second shot was released out of Dumbledore's wand, signalling Fleur to jump into the water, before a third one was released, giving Harry the signal to jump in, before the last shot was fired, and Kaiser jumped into the water.

He begins to swim toward his objective, which is Hermione and Daphne, when he sees Harry before him. He grabs Harry by the collar, surprising him, and Harry turns only to see Kaiser standing there with a serious expression on his face.

He doesn't say much as Kaiser swims through a field of seaweed when the first of the Merpeople show up. They surround them, and Kaiser throws Harry away the same moment the Merpeople attack, while Kaiser prepares to defend himself when a giant snake appears out of nowhere.

Everyone was stunned, sitting in their seats, as they saw the giant snake, which reminded Harry of the Basilisk when he had seen Kaiser holding its head.

The snake scared the Merpeople away as it coiled itself around Kaiser before shrinking, showing that it was Kaiser's pet snake to everyone watching the screen created by Loki.

"I should have told my son not to get involved in this task, but what is done is done," says Loki, holding his face, feeling defeated as his own son shifts the scale of this task, making it too easy for Kaiser, who seemed as surprised as Loki, going by his reaction.

"Jörmungandr seems to defend his master," says Thor watching the World Serpent scare the Merpeople away.

"He is, I should have made sure that he was sleeping in Kaiser's bed and not having fun in the Lake," says Loki, dejected, as he didn't check on one of Kaiser's trump cards.

Kaiser pets Jörmungandr when suddenly a giant tentacle shoots towards Kaiser, causing the snake to let go of him and expand, going after the tentacle.

"Don't tell me," says Hagrid, remembering what happened at the beginning of the school year.

"It seems the Gods didn't joke when they said that Kaiser's pets are godly beings," says Dumbledore, seeing Jörmungandr going for the tentacle when it spreads more, trying to attack the snake.

The Champions were now confused as Loki then says for everyone to hear, "We have a change of plans since I didn't take into account that my son would appear in this task scaring the Merpeople away. But this will show if our Champions have the willpower to press forward while my son and the giant squid living in the lake fight each other."

"The fight is taking place near the hostages, making it now hard for the champions to approach when Fleur gets slammed out of the Lake by a tentacle accidentally as she swam too close to Jörmungandr," says Lee Jordan, commenting on what is happening.

Harry was trying to avoid the fight between the two titans when he saw Viktor Krum and Cedric Diggory trying to survive when he saw Jörmungandr's tail coming for him.

Kaiser suddenly appears before him, blocking the attack with his body, making him stir through the water. Harry didn't even know what was happening when Kai suddenly spat out blood.

"Shit!" say Thor and Loki at the same time as Jörmungandr's eyes turned red.

"What is wrong?" Karkaroff asks, confused, when they see Jörmungandr growing bigger and bigger.

"Thor, you might want to stop my son from doing something foolish," Loki says to Thor, who crosses his arms.

"He is your son, not mine, deal with it yourself," says Thor, not wanting to fight an enraged Jörmungandr.

Jörmungandr was going hard now, not playing around. When Kaiser looked at Jörmungandr and saw that he was out of control because Kaiser was injured by him, accidentally making him snap, like he had when he received him.

Flashback

The Masters' Manor, Kaiser was playing with Fenrir, Huninn, and Muninn when Odin arrived with his family, having a special gift for Kaiser.

"Do you want to see him?" asks Odin in a reassuring tone as Kaiser nods madly, wanting to see his gift, which is a small white snake that looks more like a bracelet for his wrist.

"This is Jörmungandr, the World Serpent. He is the biggest being in our Nordic Sagas," says Odin holding the small snake in his palm.

"He doesn't look that big," says Kaiser looking at Jörmungandr when Jörmungandr hissed at him.

"It seems you have offended him," says Odin as he looks at Kaiser who was apologising to the snake.

He bites into his thumb, making it bleed before dripping some blood on Jörmungandr's head, creating the pact of lifelong companionship as he did before with Fenrir, Huninn, and Muninn.

Jörmungandr joined his brother when Kai went to train with Eivor. Everything was going alright when suddenly Eivor injured Kaiser, and Jörmungandr awoke from his sleep, having fiery red eyes.

He began to grow bigger by the second as he was ready to attack Eivor. Everyone was struggling to hold the snake back until a hand appeared out of thin air. The hand was in a black gauntlet when everyone except for Logan felt a chill pass down their spine.

The hand stopped the snake using only a finger when a woman wearing a strange armor appears before them all, and the armor changes to a black kimono.

The Gods kneel before her, showing respect, while Kaiser rushes at her, giving her a hug, since she is one of his teachers.

Logan only smiled as he stretched his hand out, which the woman took, and he kissed her hand before saying, "Abigail, I thought you didn't have time to come."

"I couldn't just let Kaiser's pet sink the whole island just because it got enraged," says Abigail as Jörmungandr seems to coil around Kaiser's fingers, afraid of Abigail, while Sarah and the others see Abigail for the first time.

"Who is she?" asks Rebecca from behind Thor and the others.

"She is the Goddess of Life and Death. She is the counterpart of Logan and his wife," says Thor, a bit afraid since Abigail rarely steps into the mortal world, since she has her underlings to deal with everything.

The only worlds she steps into are the worlds in which her children and grandchildren reside to see them and spend time with them.

"Now," says Abigail as she pets Kaiser's head when she says, "We should continue with your special day."

She claps with her hands twice, and a cake appears before them all, while Kaiser feels something grow inside of him, looking at Abigail, who puts a finger on her lips.

"What did you give me?" whispers Kaiser to Abigail who only smiles at him.

"My husband might have gifted you the powers of all the people in the Nordic Pantheon except for two," says Abigail as she draws a seal in the air before sending it toward Kaiser sealing his new powers for the right moment.

"And they are?" asks Kaiser curiously as Abigail claps and time stops even for Logan.

"One is Hel, she is my subordinate in the Nordic Pantheon," says Abigail as she creates an image of a beautiful young woman with gray hair, which changes to black, as well as the age of the woman, which turns into an old hag.

"And the other?" asks Kaiser as a giant bigger even than the ones he had met already stood before him.

"Odin might say that he is the All-Father but Ymir is the real father of all in the Nordic Pantheon. His blood formed the ocean, his bones turned to land, and so Earth was created," says Abigail, showing what happened to Kaiser while Jörmungandr watched as well.

"If your little friend ever gets out of control again. The strength of Ymir will be released, and you will receive the authority to command any giant," says Abigail as she kisses his forehead, trying to give Kaiser some luck while flicking her index finger at Jörmungandr.

She then clapped with her hands again, and everything returned to normal without anyone knowing what had just happened, while Jörmungandr grew a bit, surprising everyone.

He coils around Kaiser, adjusting to his new length, when Logan looks at Kaiser closely, making sure that his wife isn't meddling with his champion too much.

Back in the Present

Kaiser felt the seal placed upon him loosen and his blood began to boil as he began to feel immense strength coursing through his veins.

Loki and Thor felt that something was wrong when Thor says, "Something is happening down there. Has Jörmungandr awakened his full strength?"

"No, this power is older than mine or yours," says Loki seriously as he felt something pressing him down and Thor was feeling it as well.

"My giant blood is reacting to whatever is down there," says Thor, surprising the headmasters who didn't know that Thor is a half-giant, as his mother is Jörd, the giant associated with Earth.

Jörmungandr and the squid seemed to stop as they felt the new threat rising just beside them when Jörmungandr's eyes turned blue again.

He saw Kaiser looking at him fiercely when he saw red eyes looking at him. Kaiser stretches his hand out toward Jörmungandr and the squid which made both nervous.

Jörmungandr rushes at Kaiser's side, shrinking down to coil around him again, while the squid returned to the depths it came to fight Jörmungandr out of fear as Kaiser's eyes turned back to blue, and he looked at Jörmungandr, feeling that he had grown a bit since his whole body was screaming at him.

Kaiser only gave Jörmungandr a look that told him that they would talk later about what just happened, and he swam toward Harry again, finding the boy wondering what just happened, as Kaiser grabbed him by his collar again, and he swam toward their target with Jörmungandr holding the Merpeople away.

When they arrived they found only three people still there. Ron Weasley, Daphne Greengrass, and a student from Beauxbaton.

Kaiser throws Harry toward Ron while throwing Jörmungandr at the girl. He swims toward Daphne and frees her, while Jörmungandr does the same with the girl, and Harry to Ron.

They then swim up with Jörmungandr leading them, when Kaiser feels something gathering under them and he lets go of Daphne.

He summons his staff and points it down before shooting a ball of light down seeing a small army of Grindylows. They thought that they had a chance to attack now that Jörmungandr is distracted.

Kaiser wanted to use a spell when Jörmungandr passed him, rapidly growing bigger while opening his maw, attacking the Grindylows, which scattered as fast as possible once they saw Jörmungandr coming for them.

Kaiser just turns around and swims up again, holding Daphne and the girl, while Harry is dragging Ron with him. They arrive at the surface and the spell petrifying the hostages dissolves.

"Kaiser!" shouts Daphne confused about what is going on as she remembers standing before the wall to enter the Slytherin Common Room.

"Don't look at me," says Kaiser as he helps the girl to reach the platform while using a spell to keep Daphne and the girl warm.

They reach the platform where students helped them out of the water and Loki says, "It seems all hostages made it out of the water."

He looks at Kaiser, as did everyone else, as he seemed to have grown around 10 cm. But Loki could feel something coming from Kaiser, as could Thor, when they saw a small shadow behind him towering over them.

"Fuck, the old man won't like it," says Thor feeling a headache when Loki only smirks at him.

"He won't be able to do anything against Kaiser since he is Logan's champion. He would rather watch the boy grow than die a meaningless death," says Loki knowing now what they felt in the lake.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the task is over," says Loki into the microphone of Lee Jordan as he snaps with his finger, creating a table for everyone to see with Viktor Krum and Cedric Diggory in the lead, followed by Kaiser and Harry, with Fleur now dead last.

Fleur suddenly hugged Kaiser and gave him a small kiss, surprising the teen when Daphne elbowed him.

He didn't feel it but played along as he learned from Ray in Kaer Morhen when Ciri punished him. Ray always played along, knowing that his wife could go to extremes if he didn't, and Kaiser soaked that lesson up fast.

"Now the winner of this task is Cedric Diggory, who surfaced first with his hostage, followed by Viktor Krum and his," says Loki, stating the obvious as they all saw them coming out first.

"Kaiser Masters came in third, and Harry Potter came in fourth. Fleur Delacour must normally be disqualified, but since Kaiser Masters saved her hostage, we will allow her to continue, but she will be placed in last place," says Loki, announcing it to everyone as he snaps and the table disappears, as did the screen he created in the sky.

"I hope to see you all in good health for the third and final task," says Loki to everyone but meant with those words the Champions as he hands the microphone back to Lee Jordan.

Kaiser sighs when he notices Daphne shaking since the wind wasn't helping even if he uses a spell to warm her when he picks her up as if she were a princess and begins to carry her while drying her and himself up as he walks to the castle.
