Chapter 9 - Chapter 7

I woke up to Max honking his jeep. Signaling for me that it was time for school. I quickly brushed through my hair, and threw on the first things I grabbed. I didn't have time to stop by in the kitchen. I was running out the door in a hurry.

My dog barked at me as I was leaving. Oreo. She was getting bigger by the second. I felt like I hadn't spent much time with my little husky. Her blueish devil eyes looking up at me. My heart stopped for a moment. I remember one of the teachers at M.A.S.O.N. how witches needed a familiar.

They had mentioned we would be needing to find our own soon. A familiar is a sidekick, or sort of pet that helped the witch out. I looked down at Oreo. I didn't need to go find a familiar at the school, when I already had one at my house. I would have to ask though.

I grabbed my keys, they held my house key on it. I would be needing that. I ran out to Max's jeep, him still blowing the horn at me. When I glanced in the back, there was Kat, smiling up at me. Her smile. Thump. It warms me from the inside.

I sat up front. I was suddenly nervous, so I pulled down the mirror in the passenger seat. I started to fix my hair. I pulled out a gloss, and started to lightly put it on my lips. I glanced at Kat in the mirror, she was staring at me. Then, she rolled her eyes. I furrowed my brows.

Why did she roll her eyes at me? I was confused as we soon made it to the school. We all got out, and made our way into the school building. It was weird, now almost all the people important to me knew my secret. Almost. My thoughts went to my dad.

I kept trying to decide if I wanted to tell him, or not. I mean technically I am not supposed to, but some part of me knew I needed to tell him eventually. I just knew there would come a time where I accidentally used my powers in front of him either way.

I just know it will happen, eventually, might as well rip off the bandaid. You know? We made our way into the school, Damian was standing at our usual spot. We went up to him. Max and him give each other the side eye.

I caught Phoebe's stare from across the room. Great. She was at the lockers, talking to James, one of Max's friends. I could tell him was uncomfortable about it

. I went to touch his arm, "Forget her, she wasn't worth much the hassle anyways." I tilted my head up towards him with a soft smile.

Max gave me a small smile in return, "I know, it's just weird." He replied back to me.

Kat scoffed, "That's weird," she asked, "Try having you two together all our lives, and then suddenly you're gone like that." She snapped her fingers together, then, glancing away from the group. Kat started to fumble with her backpack, uncomfortable now.

I went over to her, and gave her a hug. It seemed like she really needed it, and a part of me needed it too.

"Thank you," She said, giving me a smile and soft laugh.

My heart melted, "Anytime Kat." I gave her an awkward pat on the shoulder.

Damian was silent, I haven't spoken to him since the hospital with Max. I knew we needed to talk, I was still mad at him for putting Max in danger. Regardless, if Max and I were mad at each other. Even if Max and I were arguing. It was the thought he put someone I cared for in harm's way.

School started, it was a normal day, besides Phoebe's side glances. Once normal school was over with, we made our way back to the Mason's Mansion. All four of us. It was weird, there is no other way to put it.

I opened the portal again, this time with much more ease. It was easy now, everything was easier. The more I understood my powers, the feelings it gave me. As long as I cleared my mind, everything was fine.

It still shows sparks of rainbow for my portal. It confused me, I mean I should have just one color right? I looked over to Damian for an answer, but he just shrugged his shoulders at me. I was the first one to enter through the portal. The vomiting sensation never ceases to throw me off guard.

We were at the Magic Academy, I always loved taking in the beauty of the buildings. I inhaled what I thought was air. I had hoped that it was air. I waited for the others to join me. Once they were in the other world, we started walking towards our classes.

Mike, the Alpha of the Midnight Walkers, was waiting for Max. As Max walked up to him, he glanced over back to us. Kat and I gave him a small wave goodbye. Damian had already left us. What was his deal? He has been acting weird ever since the whole Max incident.

No, ever since I became a witch. My thoughts ended shortly by Kat grabbing my attention. "Earth to Cassie," I could hear Kat snapping her fingers in front of my face.

"Yeah?' I asked, hazily.

"Girl, where were you at?"

"Just lost in my mind," I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"Oh, well are you okay?" She asked, softly bumping into my shoulder.

"I am fine, what were you going to say to me?'

"We're not going to class today," Kat said, with a smile playing on her face.

I almost stumbled, "Wait why?"

"My Coven wants to meet you." Kat said, matter of factly.

"Coven?" I asked questionably.

"Yeah, they are called the Gemini Coven." Kat said she started to skip a little.

"Why are they called the Gemini Coven?" I arched my brow, and folded my arms as we continued walking.

"Well from what I was told, it was founded by this really old powerful witch. She helped to found the Academy too."

I glanced down, something about what Kat said sounded familiar. I shook it off, it wasn't nothing. I shouldn't worry about it. It still bothered me though.

"Did they form it sometime in May or June?" I joked to Kat.

She gave me the side eye, "Haha, you're so not funny Cassie. No, I really don't know much about the name."

I looked up at her, she gave me a small smile. So cute. My focus came to a huge steel door in front of us. I took note of how even the Hulk couldn't penetrate something like that. Kat knocked on the steel door, it creaked open, fun who wouldn't want to go into a room like that.

I reminded myself the night I found out I was a witch, and how creeped out I was at the mansion. I let the thought slip as I followed Kat into the darkness. I would follow her anywhere. We made our way down a dark hallway, until Kat spotted some candles slightly dimmed.

Finally, some light, I was just wondering how much I could take to see in the dark. Might as well have closed my eyes. When we finally reached the ending of the hallway, which felt like forever. There were red cloaked figures. Great. This is how everything should happen. Nothing good ever comes out with cloaked figures. I mentally rolled my eyes, my nervousness starting to become present within the room.

Kat made her way over to the side of the room, grabbing what appeared to be her cloak. She gestured for me to grab one as well. Part of me wanted to shake my head. Hell to the no. This expands my own level of witchness. I didn't get a good feeling from it. I saw Kat's eyes, and I crumbled like a piece of cake.

I grabbed my own cloak, sliding along my arms. I made my way over to stand beside Kat. Making my way between her, and another figure. The leader, who was in the middle of the circle we had formed, chanting. I watched as she raised her hands in the air, almost as if she was praising the sky.

" Welcome girls, you're running late." The voice, it sounded familiar, and it was. The Headmistress lifted her cloak's hood down to reveal her face.

"Sorry, Headmistress Aofnx, it won't happen again." Kat uttered apologetically.

"It better not. How about you ladies join us in sacrificing this lamb." The Headmistress then gestured towards one of the other cloaked figures bringing out a live lamb.

"Sacrificing?" I quietly asked Kat.

Kat turned to look at me, putting her hand on my shoulder, "They are going to kill it Cas."

Surprise filled my face, I suddenly had a fear for the lamb. "Why?" I asked.

"For the ritual of course." Kat replied, nonchalantly.

I didn't like it, not one bit. I mean I knew a part of being a witch was sacrificing animals. I just didn't imagine participating in something so gruesome. There were other ways to do the ritual. I knew there were, they just took the easiest, and most gruesome route.

I watched as the lamb was brought in the middle. The Headmistress drew a dagger from her cloak. It was like watching the lamb to the slaughter. Oh wait. The Headmistress brought it above her head, and back down onto the lamb. I looked away as the action was performed. I couldn't do it. I started to back out of the circle.

The lady next to me latched onto my arm. I looked at her, daring her to keep holding onto me. We made eye contact, and suddenly it was like I was a little girl again. I knew her.

"Mom?" I asked her questionably.

Her eyes widened in surprise, she let go immediately, "No. I don't know who you are, but don't break the circle." With that she turned back, lifting her hands.

I stepped back within the circle. I watched the lady next to me, intrigued by her. She was definitely my mom. I think. There was something so familiar about her, I couldn't place most of it though. Once the ritual was complete everyone broke off into groups. The lady got away from me as far as possible .

"So, what did you think?" Kat asked me excitedly.

"I don't think it's for me." I replied back, crossing my arms.

"What's not for you?" The Headmistress asked, coming up to us with a smile. I don't think I have ever seen her smile before.

"Cassie didn't really like the ritual." Kat uttered to her.

The Headmistress turned to me, "Is that so?"

I nodded, "Animal sacrificing isn't something I want as a witch. I don't want to see animals die."

The Headmistress only laughed at me, "There is much more to being a witch then animal sacrificing Cassie. We do many great things in the Gemini Coven."

"Yeah, like what?" I asked daringly.

The Headmistress only looked at me, "We heal people, grant wishes, provide the human world a great deal of service."

"You do realize this is a cult right?" Cassie looked at Kat.

Kat gave her a soft laugh. Oh, her laugh is so sweet. "No, we are a coven, there's a difference." Kat replied.

"What exactly is the difference here?" I questioned.

The Headmistress spoke up, "A coven is a group of witches that come together to perform rituals. As with cults, they are brainwashed and want to be performing rituals of dark magic.

I gave Kat a look, I wasn't buying it. It was like the saying tomayto, tomahto (tomato, tomato). They both are different things, but end up meaning the same thing. This coven gave me the heebie-jeebies. I didn't want to take part in it.

"I think I'll pass." I said to the Headmistress.

She then folded her arms, "Every witch must be part of a coven. We are kindly offering you into ours, it is hard for a new witch to find her coven."

"What about witches that aren't in covens? Are they outcasts or something?" I asked jokingly.

Kat only nodded at me, "Wait, they are outcasts?"

"Yes," The Headmistress said, eyeballing me.

I looked down at my feet. I had a decision that needed to be made right then and there. I could either join this coven, which strangely reminds me of a cult. The other is to be an outcast, and I really couldn't do that either. I needed to learn to control my powers. For my dad. I couldn't risk him getting hurt.

"Okay, I'll join."

"Great!" Said the Headmistress, sticking her hand on my shoulder. A jolt of electricity coursed through my body.

I jumped back from her. She only gave me a worried look, so I walked back over to her. "Sorry, I don't know what that was."

"It's alright," she replied back, sneaking glances here and there.

"Have you found your familiar yet?" Kat asked me, looping her arm through mine.

"Kind of." I replied.

"Kind of?" Kat asked.

"I mean, I thought about my dog Oreo for a moment, but I don't know how that would work." Cassie said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Since you will now be part of the Gemini Coven we can help you with that." The Headmistress said, still within our conversation.

I was taken back for a moment. I forgot she was there, standing menacingly, it was creepy. "Really? How so?" I asked, tilting my head up to meet her gaze.

"Simple, we will perform another ritual." Headmistress Aofnx said, with a smile on her face.

Cassie's eyes bulged out, the Headmistress laughed at her, "We won't do another sacrifice ritual don't worry. This ritual will be more about conjuring, and transformation."

Cassie gave a relief sign with her shoulders, "Okay, so what do we do?"

"Everyone gets back in the circle. We are doing another ritual!" The Headmistress half yelled, ushering everyone back into place.

Everyone put back on their cloaks, Cassie making her way beside Kat once more. However, the Headmistress had other plans for Cassie. "Cassie come to the front, why don't you?"

"Why?" I asked, I was beginning to be terrified, after witnessing the lamb being slaughtered I didn't want to be in the center. That was an immediate no go for me.

"Well it is your familiar after all." Headmistress Aofnx said, with a smile playing on her face.

Cassie gulped really loud. Kat gave her a soft reassurance squeeze with her hand. Cassie made her way to the Headmistress, slowly, as if every step felt weighed her down to the ground.

When she got into the middle of the circle, the Headmistress drew an empty vial, along with the dagger she had used early. Cassie's eyes once more bulged out, fear penetrated throughout her body. This was it, she had finally been lured to her death.

"Relax, I cleaned it off earlier." The Headmistress said. She went to grab Cassie's arm, but Cassie yanked it away from her.

"Cassie, I need some of your blood." The Headmistress mentioned, frustrated.

"What for?" Cassie asked, keeping her arms tightly at her chest.

"We need to use it to bond and tie you and your familiar together."

"With blood magic?" Cassie asked, raising her eyebrows.

Headmistress Aofnx furrowed her brows together, "Yes," Cassie glanced at Kat. She only gave Cassie a reassurance nod.

Cassie took a breath and held out her arm. The Headmistress moved her cloak's sleeves back, revealing Cassie's bare arm. With the dagger, the Headmistress carefully cut into Cassie's skin. I flinched at the pain on my arm, a burning sensation happening where she cut into my skin.

It wasn't pleasant at all. Not the kind of burning power sensation I feel with my powers either. No this was painful, like a part of me was suffocating. Blood started to lightly come out of me, like I was bleeding out. Panic started to course through my body.

I watched as she squeezed the blood out of my arm into the small empty vial that quickly filled with my dark red liquid substance. I could feel the warmth of my blood, gliding down my arm into the vial. It had a sticky sort of feel to it. Mentally gagging at the way it just glided down my arm.

I had to look away for the rest of it. I could hear the little click of the lid on the vial. I wasn't feeling good, I could feel my palms begin to warm. I practically feel the sweat beginning to form on my face, and on my legs. I was getting hot, too hot.

The Headmistress gestured for me to make my way over to Kat once more. A watery feeling taking place in my mouth, it felt like my stomach was turning flips. I watched as Headmistress Aofnx held what appeared to be a cauldron in the middle with her.

She opened the vial of blood, dropping it into the pot. Then, restoring it back into her cloak, some still left within the vial. The Headmistress began waving her arms in the air, until the cauldron caught fire on the inside.

We all began to chant, "Vangara," over and over until the fire subsided. When it was over with, the Headmistress blew it out, and turned to smile at me.

"Welcome Cassie, to the Gemini Coven, and your familiar Oreo." The Headmistress gave a nod towards me. I could feel Oreo, somehow connected to me. Almost as if she was right there with me.

Everyone returned their cloaks to the side of the room. As we were exiting the little room, the candles started to go out, one by one, with magic. We got to the steel door once more and it was pushed open. We were outside again, finally, fresh air. I could breathe, I didn't realize I was holding my breath.

We started walking towards our Craft class, when I noticed a familiar face. It was Jack Michaels, he went to high school with me and Kat! Wait, Jack Michaels was at the Academy with us, which meant one of two things. First, he was a supernatural creature, and was going to school here. Two, he was a freaking supernatural creature at a normal school at one point.

I looked over at Kat, completely flabbergasted at that moment. "Was it Cassie?" She asked me, worried starting to display on her face. She grabbed my shoulders, shaking me softly.

I glanced over at Jack, "Kat, it's Jack, he went to school with us." I uttered, about that time Jack and I caught each other's gaze.

I could almost feel him stop breathing. Kat looked over at him, "Right, yeah, Cas he um he goes to school here."

I looked over at Kat, "Is he a werewolf?"

Kat stopped to think for a moment, "Well no."

"Well then what is he?" I asked, worry began showing on my face.

"I think I'll let him explain that." Kat said, pointing towards Jack, who happened to be walking right towards us.

Jack. Jack Michaels was at the Academy here with us. Jack. The guy I had happened to like right before everything happened with Max. He was the only one I was friends with, truly at school.

I had Max and Kat, but that was it. I didn't really have a lot of friends from the beginning of high school. Except of course, Jack, however, Jack was a complete and utter asshole for the most part. My first experience ever with a jerk of a guy.

I remember him being so arrogant and controlling for the most part. Only his opinion mattered in the end, and if you didn't tell him yes, then everything would be horrible for you. I stared at him, remembering how at one point I had a crush on him. I kept thinking, what did I see in him to begin with? You don't know someone until you get to know them.

Then, you have the choice to either keep them in your life, or completely disregard everything they made you feel. With Jack, I chose not to have in my life anymore after he became a jerk.

There was no reason to go through that pain. I was naive, but not that naive. I laughed to myself. Here he was, at this magic school with us. Somehow entering my life once more, when I least expected it to happen to me.

My eyes focused on Jack as he approached us. His light blonde hair buzzed cut back. His dark jeans were so long, they covered his sneakers. He had on a Queen, the band's t-shirt on. It was also in the color of black.

I watched, as his green eyes looked into mine. Those eyes, how at one time I would've done anything for. How they trapped me where I was at. Those types of eyes you could get lost in with just a simple gaze. Cassie, no, keep yourself together. He was a horrible person the last time you saw him. Deep down, she had hope that he wasn't the same guy as before.

"Hello there ladies, " Jack said with a smirk on his face, winking at us.

"Hi Jack," I said to him shyly. Tucking a hair behind my ear in the process. I caught Kat giving me the side eye.

I know what you're thinking, don't come at me just yet. People change all the time. Why couldn't Jack change too? I have faith that he could be a completely different person, then the last dude I talked to.

"Do I know you?" He asked me, questioningly.

I snuck a quick glance at Kat, "Yeah, we went to school together." I muttered to him.

With a questionable look, Jack said, "Really? I don't remember you, and I know I would have remembered you." Jack gave me a once over look.

I got the ick just then. If you don't know what an ick is, it is when a guy gives off a vibe you don't like. For instance, at this moment, Jack is being a complete douche right. He is disgustingly checking me out. Ew. It's an icky feeling.

"We had chemistry together." I told him, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, really?" He said, smiling at me, getting closer. Cassie stepped back from Jack.

"Not that kind of chemistry." Cassie said coldly, no longer in the mood to talk to Jack, and ask questions.

He raised his hands up in surrender, "My bad, so what is your name?"

"It's Cassie, Jack. I figured you would've known that much." Cassie looked at Kat, rolling her eyes.

So, Cassie might have been wrong about Jack. If she didn't have some faith that he had changed, then there was no hope for her belief in humanity. She laughed at how different they were when he was talking to her. How she had changed so much from the girl that he knew.

He was still the same. Same opinions, same ideals about life, and the same damn concepts. Always making her feel like she was belittling herself. Cassie didn't like it, she just watched him. Wondering again, how she ever fell for him to begin with. That little crush that she had. She was glad that she dodged a bullet.

While Jack was rambling, he talked about how he was a vampire. Which caught Cassie's attention. "You're a vampire?" Cassie asked out loud.

Jack turned his head towards her, because he was looking directly at Kat. Giving his disgusting once over look he had previously given Cassie. "Yeah," he replied back, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"How long have you been a vampire?" Cassie asked, wondering if had recently been turned. How Max had been recently turned into a werewolf.

Jack only grinned, "A while." He replied back to her. His gaze held her, she was trapped once more. Her breath hitched in her lungs.

Cassie gulped, "And how long is awhile?"

Jack shrugged his shoulders, "Years," he replied back deeply.

"As in, when we went to school together?" Cassie said, side stepping closer towards Kat.

"Yeah," Jack said looking towards one of his buddies.

"Jack, how old are you, really?" Cassie asked, side glancing at Kat. She was becoming uncomfortable.

"I stopped counting after 100." Jack said, with a small laugh and lightly punching his friend.

"100?" Cassie repeated, breathlessly.

"Jack, why don't you tell Cassie how you became a vampire?" His buddy said, laughing.

Only Jack stopped laughing, giving him a glare. "Yeah, Jack tell Cassie how you became a vampire." Kat remarked to him.

Jack glanced at me, suddenly, there was tension there. "Do you know how vampires are created?" He asked me.

I nodded, "Sometimes they are bitten, which is a made vampire. There are the off chances that you are born a vampire, I mean we have different crossbreds…"

Cassie's thoughts drifted to the prophecy, the one she had forgotten all about. Crossbred. Meaning, anyone who was more than one species of supernatural creature is a potential for the prophecy. She let out a sigh, Cassie was glad she wasn't a crossbred though.

Her thoughts went to Rory. She was the only crossbred she knew at the school so far. Maybe, the prophecy called to her because she was a witch with magical powers. What if she was supposed to help Rory from fulfilling the prophecy? That's usually how things work out in movies and stuff, right?

"Cas you okay?" Kat asked her, bringing Cassie back to what she was saying..

"Yeah everything is good, what was I saying?" Glancing up at Jack.

"We're talking about the different types of vampires." Jack replied back.

"Right, you have the made vampires, the ones bitten, then the born, but you also have the vampires created by straight up magic." Cassie finished saying.

"Yes," Jack replied back to her.

"And which one are you?" Kat asked, questioning him. She had that look in her eyes, the one that said she knew something, and wasn't sharing just yet.

"Magic." Jack uttered, I almost didn't hear him.

"Magic, how do you know that?" Cassie asked, furrowing her brows.

"I felt it, it was tugging at me from my soul."

"Cassie, do you know what kind of magic that takes?" Kat asked, shock coursing through her. She was shuddering, I could tell.

"No, we haven't got that far." Cassie replied, placing her head to steady Kat.

"Dark magic." Kat whispered, I saw the fear in her eyes.

I looked back at Jack, but he wasn't looking at me.

"Jack what were you doing at our school, I mean you were a vampire during that time?"

"I was sent there." He uttered, not looking at me.

"Why?" I asked, stepping towards him now.

He stepped back, "I was called there. I didn't realize what for until I met you."

"So what, you were sent there for me?" I questioned whether Kat had grabbed my hand.

"Yes." Jack replied, not looking at either Kat or me.

"For what?" I said breathlessly.

"To kill you." With that Damian came out of the shadows.

He stepped up to Jack. "I think you should go. Now." He told Jack he was being standoffish.

Jack started backing away, slowly, before he went, "Cassie, don't trust anyone here. You never know when someone might slip up."

"Why were you there to kill me?" I asked him, pleading for an answer.

"Cassie, all I know I was sent there to kill a wolf. You smelled human to me. So, I left you there, alive."

Damian ushered Jack away. "Cassie, are you okay?"

"Yeah I am fine," I replied, really I wasn't. It felt like my brain was going ninety to nothing. Everything just didn't make any sense to me.

A wolf? I wasn't a wolf, I was a witch. I remembered the wolfsbane in the class. How it hurt me. But, I couldn't be, could I? There was no way that I could be both a wolf and a witch. That would mean one of my parents, or both of my parents. My dad.

"You can't listen to what he says. He was practically sent away, because he was crazy." Damian said, patting my shoulder slightly.

I said suddenly, 'I need to get home," looking up at Damian.

Our gaze deepened, "What's the hurry?" He asked, trying to be nonchalantly about it.

"Nothing, it's just, I am not fine. I would like to be alone now."

Damian only nodded, we walked to the main building. Kat opened the portal for me this time. I stepped through, looking at them from the Mason's Mansion, waving goodbye. Once the portal closed, I basically ran home. Dad would be there. He was about to find out I was a witch. Not to mention, get a load down of questions.

When I made it to my house, I opened the door, and there was Oreo. Waiting on me, I found my dad in the kitchen, alongside him was Jessie. The neighbor again, great. I mentally rolled my eyes at her. I went to the fridge and got out a cold Dr. Pepper. It was one of my favorite name brand drinks.

"How was work?" Dad asked me. Jessie was awkwardly sitting at the kitchen table next to him.

"It was fine." I replied, opening the canned Dr. Pepper. I started to walk out, but my dad called me back in.

"Hey, Cas, there is something I want to talk to you about"

I went to sit down at the table with them. This was going to be weird. I didn't want to hear him dating again. I also had hope that he wasn't interested in Jessie either. I made a note to talk to him later about this wolf and witch thing. I watched him, he was fumbling with his hands.

He was nervous, but about what I had wondered. We sat there in silence for a moment. Glancing up at each other, then my dad said, "We're going to have to tell her eventually."

"Tell me what?" I asked, panic setting in my voice. I hoped and prayed within that moment they weren't getting married. I didn't care if my dad dated, but gosh, not Jessie.

"We've been keeping a secret from you." Jessie said, with a smile on her face. She reached over to touch my hand, but I jerked it back.

"What kind of secret?" I asked, hesitantly towards my dad. I was silently praying that he wouldn't get married to this nimrod.

"Cas, there is something about me and your mother that I never told you before." My dad said slowly.

I arched a brow at him, "And what is that?"

My dad cleared his throat, "You see, how do I say this?" He said, stumbling over his words.

"Dad, just spit it out." My dad was still stumbling over his words, Jessie rolled her eyes and spoke, "Cassie you're a witch."

I busted out laughing at them, the hysterical kind too. They just gave me puzzled looks, I let out a sigh of relief. My ears started to brim with tears, because I was laughing so hard.

"What's so funny?" My dad asked, his turn arching his brow.

"Nothing, it's just that it's taken you weeks to figure out how to tell me that. Dad, I already knew."

The man was speechless. "You knew?" He asked me, looking between me and Jessie.

"A little bit after my birthday, things were happening. I was going to tell you eventually. Hold on, you knew I was a witch the entire time, and you didn't tell me." I said, starting to point my finger at my dad.

Oreo came into the kitchen, sitting down next to my chair. Watching us talking, watching me talk. I kept glancing down at her.

"There's more," Jessie spoke up again.

"More?" I questioned.

"You're also a wolf." Jessie finished, looking at my dad to continue.

However, I held up my hand, "So, I am not only a witch, but a wolf too."

"Yes," my dad whispered to me.

I stood up from the table, and I began walking towards my room. My dad and Jessie followed behind me.

"We have a reservation, where all the wolves go. We go through a portal, our pack the Midnight Walkers, they'll welcome you," Jessie said, but Cassie had already stopped. She spun around on her heels.

"The Midnight Walkers?" Cassie asked her, Jessie nodded her head. "As in the alpha being Mike, Midnight Walkers?"

Jessie nodded her head, slanting her eyes at her in the process, "How did you know that?"

"Because I have been to the magic academy. I know Mike."

"Well, he is the Alpha of your blood wolf pack, Cassie. I could show you around there sometime."

"Sometime." Cassie uttered back to her.

"Dad, I went and visited this witch coven named Gemini, a witch there recognized me. I thought it was mom." I said, glancing towards him, watching his expression.

He side glanced Jessie, "Honey, I haven't spoken with your mom since you were born. She gave you to me."

"But we have photos of her, dad it was her." I said breathlessly.

He just nodded his head at me, "Cas, I really don't think it was her."

"But Dad -" , he stopped me, "No Cassie, because your mother is dead."

I stared up at him. It was impossible, or was it? I mean don't get me wrong, that woman looked just like my mother in the photos. Why did she act so weird towards me then?

"Dad, she was being weird towards me though."

"Cassie it was in your head, besides Jessie would know if your mother was there."

I glared at her, of course she would. Unless she wouldn't tell me dad. Jessie kept her face completely blankless, not giving any emotion to this. Suspicious.

"You know what I think I do want that tour Jessie." I said, looking at her. Our gazes caught, she knew, Jessie only shook her head at me.

"We can go tomorrow after school if you want?" Jessie asked hesitantly at me.

"Time doesn't make a difference there. I would like to go now." I started walking towards the front door, waiting by it and gesturing to Jessie to follow me.

I started to lead us towards the Mason's Mansion, but Jessie stopped me in my tracks.

"No need, we can just go into my house." She was looking around, as if she was waiting for something.

We then entered her house, into her living room, there was an open space. Just beyond, I could see a shrine, I couldn't tell what it was though. I wanted to look, but I couldn't wait to go to the reservation. I need to understand this part of me now.

"Do you need me to cast the portal?" I asked her, looking around as well, wary now.

"No, I got it." Jessie stepped forward, waving her arms in a circle, flaming red appearing to us. Why would red reflect her?

"You're a witch and wolf too?" I asked her, Jessie only nodded and gave a small smile, disappearing into the portal.

I made my way right after her, Oreo appearing beside me, going through the portal too. I didn't want to be here any longer, and I was excited to understand myself more. I knew things were different with me, I just didn't understand how different.

Once we were on the other side of the portal, it looked just like a village. There were houses, lots of them too. It was like a whole other town existed. Jessie started to pace forward, Oreo and I tried to keep up with her.

I watched as there were some people building more houses. Some of the houses were made completely out of wood. There were logs along the sidewalks. It was mainly a dirt paved road. We were walking up to this huge house, not like the Mason's Mansion.

We carefully made our way up the stairs. As we reached the stairs, a group of wolves came out to greet us. Among them, there was Max, and beside him there was Phoebe. What the hell was she doing here? Didn't he break up with her? He couldn't meet my gaze.

Jessie stopped in front of Mike, giving him a bow with her head. "Alpha, I brought Cassie."

Mike only greeted me with a smile, holding out his hand to me, "Hey Cassie, I am glad you finally decided to join us.
