Chapter 28 - Night War

"This is a first." The lord slowly spat out these words.

In his cold gaze, the back of the squires could not help but break out in a cold sweat.

"And put away your stupid bows and arrows, I really can't understand how a few of you with torches and lanterns just now shot that arrow out! George's spittle almost spewed into the faces of these people. He continued: "Martin ah, your archery skills are really good, even shot the zombie stomach, huh ... I'm not fucking praising you, you don't have to be shy!!!"

Ruthlessly shining a slap on the back of the heads of the guys who shot the arrows, George roared in a low voice: "You used to be murderous bandits, not refugees and trash! Where are those bloody wolf cubs from Johannes? What, do even some crazy refugees need their lord's own hands?!"

George's words were both a bit boastful and also had a very blatant and harsh mockery.

It was very embarrassing to hear.

Shame, shame and anger filled the chests of those people, and the squires all lowered their heads, their faces swelling red.

They all saw the foot that the lord had just extended, and even he could easily defeat these things - like tripping over a crazy old man! But as guards themselves were panicked and scared shitless!

So the lord wasn't wrong when he said they were losers.

This made the bandits very ashamed, but they had no way to refute. They could only secretly grip the iron fork in their hands, wanting to hurry up and have another chance to prove themselves.

Alcohol and anger finally produced a chemical reaction, after hearing the lord's angry rebuke, these people finally forgot the original fear, even the occasional strange whistling in the fog, and the whistling cold wind were ignored by them.

"Raise your heads and tell me if you are all men?" George suddenly shouted.

"Yes!" The squires froze and then gave their response, this time in a much neater voice than the last.

"Very well." George nodded and said, "There are some 'crazy refugees' over there who have heard the sound and they don't seem to believe that you are men. Hurry up and teach them a lesson! Don't let me go back to the territory later and call those two good hunters to come over to protect you bunch of losers!"

These words had a great effect.

Thinking of the villagers who were so cowardly that they would normally lose their courage to fight at the sight of the bandits, the squires felt a wave of shame from the inside out!

After the lord finished speaking, the angry bandits finally remembered who they were. They fiercely raised the weapons in their hands and stared viciously at the direction the lord pointed.

There were four 'madmen' with their teeth and claws scattered over there running towards this side.

"Stay in formation!"

The same words came out of George's mouth, but this time, the situation was different.

This time Alexander stood by the lord's side and no longer went to the front. Because he decided to stay by his lord's side after seeing how the two zombies behaved when they rushed into the crowd.

But those brave soldiers also no longer need the shield. They stuck the torches in their hands, hung the lanterns on their belts, and raised the iron forks in their hands.

The six steel forks, although they looked a bit scattered, were firm and strong, fiercely holding those zombies in place. Two of them even pierced directly through the zombie's head!

The squires suddenly recalled what the chief had handed them during the day, and some held on to the forks with a death grip, while others cooperated with their comrades and pulled them out of the zombie's body and stuck them into the zombie's brain.

Four zombies were quickly solved, even those soldiers did not think they would be so sharp, to know that the zombies at night is very different from the daytime. Frighteningly crazy!

When they drew back the weapons in their hands and looked at the corpses that fell limp one by one on the ground. The guards could not help but look at each other. They all saw a look of excitement in each other's eyes.

After this time, the squires had finally recovered the confidence they had back when they were bandits. Just as the lord said, weren't these zombies just a bunch of refugees who had gone crazy? Even if they came at them, they could kick them down!

The great magistrate is standing behind them, there is no need to be afraid of being bitten and caught. And there will be a chief to save the day when it matters, so what else is there to fear?

George, who was quietly watching from behind, nodded secretly, knowing the number that their squad could now deal with - with Alexander out of the way, they could deal with seven or eight. More than this number, or even double, Alexander can still cope, but these new recruits, who have just built up their confidence, will lose it in panic and panic, and flee in disarray. And I'm afraid I'm going to be in danger.

''The zombies at night are too sensitive and more forceful. In this fog, Alexander if a little careless, I'm afraid will also be scratched.' George looked at Alexander's leather armor that had been torn yesterday and couldn't help but feel a little helpless. Their current equipment was indeed a little too poor.

After the escorts briefly cleaned up the corpses, they intended to burn them directly. George looked at the scrolls and knew that they had better change the place first, so he instructed: "The corpses don't need to be burned first, we'll get them during the day. Let's go somewhere else."

Due to the slightly tight schedule, George did not intend to carry out the super work tonight, and now several true words have reached lv1 level, and further upgrade requires 100 prayers to do so. So even if all the zombies in the vicinity are added together, it is not enough to upgrade once. So then also no longer waste this time, simply lead the escorts to speed up the movement.

In the process of marching, the squires saw the lord always check the scrolls, and could not help but be a little curious. In fact, during the day, they had already discovered this habit of the lord, and this evening, they finally someone could not help but ask out.

"This is just an ordinary map, of course, if any of you can hear the voice of the gods and know prophecy. Then naturally, you will be able to be guided by the gods when you observe the map. Thus, you will be able to know which monsters are nearby." George held a torch in his hand and looked at the field that was illuminated by firelight in front of him and said so.

"Lord, we also have the opportunity to you like this, to be able to hear the voice of God?" Someone asked excitedly.

The words made George freeze. He suddenly withdrew his gaze from the scroll, stopped, looked back at the top of the man's head and said, "Yes, maybe you can't comprehend such profound true words as prophecy, but as long as you have God in your heart, you will one day hear God's voice in your heart."

After the words fell to the ground, the eyes of the six squires gradually became fervent, and George also suddenly found that, in addition to Martin, the other five people on the top of the head also out of three words [believe in the people (firmly)] to! And the 'Divine Grace' on the scroll also came out with 5 more points. It became [Divine Grace: 31/32]. As for the few zombies that were originally close to the territory at the other end, they also withdrew a few steps outward on the scroll's display.

He looked into the eyes of these people and added: "At that time, you will not only be able to become God's Guardians, but you may even be able to speak for God and become His priests, or even paladins!"

Another steaming pie was thrown out, a pie that made the squires look so dreamy, so unattainable! But that's what makes it all the more attractive!

Martin suddenly said excitedly: "My Lord, when I killed those zombies, I seemed to feel the gaze of God, can I really become a paladin? Just like those lords guarding the outside of the church inside the city, with the same honor as a noble?!"

'Really good at hypnotizing yourself.' George looked at the top of his head and said to the bandit who had completely poisoned himself, "Of course, as I said, God is watching you, and for every evil thing you kill, you will get more attention from Him."

He suddenly noticed that the words above Martin's head were beginning to blur.

"And I'll give you the Silver Fox!" George said with a smile on his face. And added in his mind: 'I'll have to think of a way to get this money back again before I can.'

The words [Believers (Blind Believers)] suddenly appeared above Martin's head.

After the Blind Believer appeared, the Divine Grace shown on the scroll instantly increased by another 3 points to [Divine Grace: 34/35]! And the few zombies around the territory pushed a few more steps outward.

And above the blind believer, there was this description.

[Blind Believers: These people have reached a level of blindness in their belief in the gods, which makes them superstitiously believe that the gods will give them strength no matter what desperate situation they are in, and as a result will not be in despair - when fighting against evil things: +1 combat power].

Although the faith of the people (blind believers) is extremely strong, they can easily lose their way to the wrong path, easily used by the devil, and become cultists. They need proper guidance, and only by becoming devout believers can the power of the mind show them the way and bring their true power into play.]

[After firm faith, it should have been piety. Yet you developed a blind believer. God is a little disappointed in you... Please develop twenty 'devout believers/believers' as soon as possible.]

The 'Faithful People (Believers)' on the heads of several other people did not change, but the words became more obvious.

'...' George felt a pang of speechlessness: 'Damn, giving divine grace again and saying you're not satisfied with old me. Aren't you a little too arrogant? And ah, you disappointed a hair, old me was originally a godly man, it is you expect too much of me okay! This blind believer is also your faithful people, you just take it well you!
