After a grueling three hours of classes, it was finally lunchtime. My stomach growled as I walked toward the cafeteria. When I arrived, I saw Tessa running toward me out of the corner of my eye.
"Hi, Cynthia! How were your classes?" she asked, grabbing my arm excitedly.
"It felt like an eternity, and I'm so ready to stuff my face. Who knew vampire classes would be this hard?" I said as we walked toward the lunch line.
*Yuck, do they not serve any normal food? What's a girl gotta do to get a salad around here?* I thought, making a disgusted face.
We find a table and sit down
"So... what's the deal with you and Michael?" Tessa asked calmly, trying not to make it obvious that she was dying to know.
"Well, there is no deal. We randomly bumped into each other, and he told everyone I was his girlfriend without my consent," I said, as Tessa rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Speaking of which, I hope he wasn't serious about sitting with us..." I said, looking around the cafeteria.
Tessa and I started eating.
"Speaking of which, I now have unnecessary beef with that Lilly girl all because she thinks I'm dating Michael. I just wanted a fresh start, and here comes this handsome man ruining my peace," I said as I shoved black pudding in my mouth.
"So you think I'm handsome?" said a deep voice behind me.
I looked back, and it was Michael. Tessa shook my arm as if something crazy had just happened. "Well, only a little handsome. You're still annoying, and I don't want to talk to you," I huff as I turned back around to eat.
"Come on, baby, you know we're meant for each other—" Michael said, but I quickly cut him off and covered his mouth.
"Listen here, buddy. I don't know what sort of mental illness you have, but we are not together. As a matter of fact, Tessa and I just finished eating, so we are leaving," I said angrily, grabbing my bookbag and lunch plate.
"Cynthia, wai—" Michael exclaimed as he tried to grab my arm, but I was already too far from his reach.
"Come on, Tessa, you have to help me out," Michael said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"No can do, buddy. I have to go with my friend on this," she said as she grabbed her belongings.
"Come on, Tessa!" I shouted, and she responded with, "Coming! Sorry Michael…but I'm rooting for you guys!" Tessa said as she starts running toward me.
