Matthias and the council members arranged the opening ceremony for the Fifth Underground City.
On the day of its completion, they attended the newly evacuated underground city in the background of citizens waiting to enter, captured in black and white stills that might be remembered by all future generations under the flashlights of newspaper photographers.
The last batch of one-fifth of the citizens moved into the Fifth Underground City.
However, the worms' work was far from finished. As people moved deeper underground, vacating the refuge, those ant-nest-like interwoven complex tunnel rooms easily accumulated filth, needing the worms to turn them back into layers of rubble and soil, only preserving a few passages connecting the underground city with the surface where the Banyan Tree Guardians were stationed.
Besides this, they also needed to expand the underground lakes and channel the underground river to the five underground cities.
