Chapter 1497 - Chapter 41: Setting Foot on Land

Kate pulled open the curtains, revealing a continuous blur of shadows outside the porthole.

Lu Li moved the passenger who had fainted in front of the door and opened the cabin door. The chilling silence and uneasy tilting corridor outside the boiler cabin were enveloped in darkness.

Removing the no longer unsteady oil lamp, Lu Li headed towards the stern. The light pushed into the dimness. Footsteps sounded behind, Lu Li slightly turned his head, Kate followed barefoot, holding the flintlock pistol which served more as a psychological comfort.

Lu Li and Kate's departure prompted some survivors to follow suit. More people stayed behind, hiding in the boiler cabin, awaiting rescue and the arrival of dawn.

The fog-filled corridor was silent, but as they reached the fork, indistinct sounds echoed from an uncertain direction.

"What's that sound...?"

The noise-like repetitive frequency gradually became clearer, resembling the sound of a distorted radio or the echo of tides.
