Chapter 13 - 13. Micky's Regret Part 2

"Don't touch my older sister with your dirty hands. You don't deserve her," Micky shouted at Hugo with rage in his eyes, and Hugo didn't back down either.

"So you still remember that you have an older sister? Where were you all this time? You have no right to blame me when you never cared about her from beginning to end," Hugo shouted back.

Micky couldn't refute Hugo's words—he too had abandoned his older sister. But he refused to back down.

"You don't have the right to touch my sister when you cared more about Athania. You never saw my older sister as someone important. I will never forgive you because you're the one who killed her!" Micky yelled, tears escaping his eyes.

"You also chose Athania over Lea. So don't act like you have the right to be angry at me," Hugo snapped back.

"My sister was pregnant with your child, but you were never there for her. Do you still call yourself a husband? You don't qualify as either a husband or a father!" Micky's voice was hoarse as he sobbed beside his sister's body.

Hugo couldn't refute Micky's words. He was too overwhelmed with guilt to speak.

"Shut up, both of you. Your argument won't bring Lea back," someone said coldly, though there was an unmistakable sadness in his voice.

Micky's older brother lowered his head, and Micky couldn't even understand what he was feeling anymore. Their father remained silent. Micky never thought losing his sister would be this unbearable.

If only he had known, he would never have hurt her. He would never have blacklisted her from the entertainment industry. But regrets always came too late.

He remembered the last time she begged him with teary eyes.

"Micky, I beg you. I want to be an actress. Please don't block me from the entertainment industry. I'll do anything you want. Just please, don't blacklist me," Leanna pleaded, even kneeling before him.

As the CEO of a famous entertainment company, one word from Micky could ruin her career. He looked at her coldly, unaware it would be the last time he'd see her.

"I'm not asking for much. I just want to keep acting—even if I never get the heroine roles. I'll stop bothering Nia. I'll stop chasing Hugo. Just let me continue acting. I'll do anything for you."

She cried as she said those words, but it didn't soften Micky's heart—it only made him more disgusted with her.

"I don't want to live in the same world as you. Your presence disgusts me. If you dare show your face again, I'll make your life more miserable than it already is," Micky said coldly, like he was speaking to a stranger—not his sister.

Leanna stood and looked at him one last time.

"I understand. If you won't grant my wish, I'll accept it. No matter what, you're still my younger brother. And as your older sister, I'll make your wish come true. I won't appear before you again. I hope you find happiness—even without me.

I've always loved you. Goodbye, my beloved younger brother," Leanna said before walking away.

Micky's heart ached. He had wanted to hug her—but he didn't. At the time, he didn't understand why. Now he did, but it was too late.

He never expected that would be the last time he saw her. That he'd be the one to make her cry. He clenched his fists, but the pain wouldn't leave.

He now realized that her goodbye was final. There was no second chance. No way to fix the regret.

Darkness swallowed his world. Light had disappeared.

Later, Leanna was buried at her maternal family's grave, and none of the Angelica family were allowed to visit.

Micky couldn't attend the funeral. After her death, their mother never showed her face to him again.

He realized then he was never close to their mother. She had long divorced their father and left the family. Custody went to their father. She still visited, but Micky, his older brother, and father were never around.

She only visited Leanna. They were close.

It was true what they said—you don't know what you have until it's gone.

Now, too late, Micky realized his foolishness had cost his sister her life.

He regretted everything. He didn't know what to do anymore.

If God gave him a second chance, he'd do everything to protect her.

After that, Micky cut ties with his brother and father. He went through life alone.

He regretted his carelessness. If only he had known, he wouldn't have treated her that way.

But regret never came early.

All he could do was swallow the bitter pill of regret—it couldn't heal anything.

(End of the Flashback)

Micky sat on the floor, tears falling. He remembered everything. God had given him a second chance.

He wouldn't waste it. Crying wouldn't change the past, but it was a lie to say he wasn't sad.

Was he really that stupid? Had he really hurt her like that? Yes. He admitted it.

Even before he regained his memories, their relationship had already been broken. Every time they met, he picked a fight. He always looked at her coldly. He never spoke to her gently.

Now he wanted to punch himself.

What good was education if he couldn't even respect his sister?

He remembered she was the one who took care of him when he was sick.

He felt like he'd been brainwashed by their father to hate her. She never did anything wrong. And yet, he hated her.

Micky shivered as his heart shattered.

He didn't want to remember Leanna's death. But the image of her bloodied body haunted him.

He stared out the window. Rain fell. It was like the sky was crying with him.

He wouldn't repeat his past. Even a squirrel doesn't fall in the same trap twice.

He couldn't believe it, but he had suspicions—Nia wasn't as innocent as she seemed.

He was afraid Nia had done something to Leanna in the past.

He pulled out his phone and called his secretary.

"I want you to investigate everything Athania has done behind my back," Micky said, his voice hoarse and eyes red.

His secretary sensed something was off. Why did his boss—who always doted on his cousin—suddenly want to spy on her?

Still, he simply said yes, and Micky ended the call.
