"Look! Look! it's there!" Nora screams hysterically.
Marcel and Gregory jumping awake from their deep sleep in, what looked to be, one of the most uncomfortable positions ever seen.
"arghh, what's there?" Marcel says still trying to wake himself up.
"It's Valtea!" Nora answers with a smile stretched from ear to ear.
Gregory and Marcel, snapping awake their sleepy states, throwing their heads out the window and staring in amazement. They enter the front gates of Valtea. staring, with a gleam in their eyes, at every house and person walking by, as if they were made of gold. The carriage stops suddenly and they here a voice from the driver's seat.
"Heres your stop, kiddos"
they get out and pay the driver his money (which was given to them by Kyero to use sparingly), and the currency in Valtea is called koll. The man they were handing the koll to striked Marcel as odd, Marcel began to scan over him. His hair, messy yet almost perfectly placed. his face rough, and yet his eyes, sharp and cloaked with stature. his clothes seemed like the standard clothes of a commoner. However there was one thing that put Marcel on edge. The mans shoes seemed to be very clean for someone of the working class. Nora and Gregory began to walk off, then after one last glance, Marcel follows the others inside. Once they are all inside they come to a front desk with smiling woman behind it.
"Hello and welcome to Kaleir academy. May I have your names?" the lady at the desk says.
"My name is Nora" she says with a smile mirroring the one at the desk.
"My names Gregory" he says whilst his eyes wonder around the halls
"And yours- ah" the woman's face quickly changes to shock as she sees Marcel. Then she stands up and runs as fast as she can, leaving the three of them in a state of confusion.
A few moments later a man rushes in, the man looked peculiar to the group, he was slouched over, with long silver hair and rough hands.
"you, pretty boy... come with me" the slouched man orders Marcel
Marcel - puzzled - decides to follow him. The slouched man leads Marcel to a big room, rich with colour and flowing with light, ornate patterns stretched across the whole room and a crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. But Marcel's eye wasn't caught by the designs, the colours, nor the crystal chandelier... but instead by the shoes on the slouched man. Then the man stood up straight as if the curtains had been drawn onto his act, his silver hair shortened, and changed to a crimson red, he slicked his hair back and pulled out a pair of glasses from his waist coat pocket as he glanced over at Marcel, who was standing there with his jaw on the ground, he said.
"Hello, my name is Arthur Kaleir, and its wonderful to have you at my academy" Arthur, the headmaster, said with a soft voice
Marcel still trying to scramble together an idea of what just happened.
"you! it... it was you all along?!" Marcel says pointing his finger at the headmaster
"haha, I merely wanted to see what you were like, from all the letters Kyero wrote to me about your special powers" The headmaster says, staring at Marcel, almost scanning him up and down
"wait.... you know about that?" Marcel says with sweat dripping down his forehead
"yes I do, but I would like to see it for myself" Arthur says, snapping his fingers, which makes the room they were standing in disappear, and they were left in a dark, baron void, with a single light shining down on the two of them.
"what the-" Marcel begins to say as he is cut off by Arthur's magic ice bolt shooting past his head
Marcel swiftly getting his barrings, conjures a fire attack to counter Arthur's ice, but arthur smirks and extinguishes his fire in a ball of water.
"come now you should know ice is a variation of water magic? is this all you have?" Arthur laughs arrogantly
"no..... this is" Marcel suddenly crosses his arms with his hands facing out
three spikes strike out of the ground, as Marcel had just cast earth magic. The spikes trapped Arthur so that his only option to protect against Marcel's inevitable attack was to block or counter. Suddenly, the marks on Marcels arms began to glow once more, but this time... he was in control. Marcel's hands began to be encased in a black, shadowy mist. Arthur's eyes lit up like a child on Christmas morning then soon turned to horror as a black, jagged spikes shot out of Marcel's hands travelling towards Arthur and just as it was about to pierce his skin the spikes freeze.
"satisfied, Mr Kaleir?" Marcel asks with a kind, yet terrifying smile
"y-yes... very!" Arthur says returning to the smile
The earth and 'shadow' magic disappear, and Arthur snaps his fingers and the dark void is dragged back into his shadow.
"So you have shadow magic too?" Marcel questions
"Yes but mine isnt exactly an offensive ability" Arthur replies
They go on to talk about how different magic types, other than the base elements came to life. They get onto the topic of where it all started. Arthur pulls out an old, scorched book, he states that it belonged to the first person to awaken with nagic and it was his personal diary. One of the entries goes:
"It has been a few days from when I awoke with these strange abilities, it seems like some kind of harmless disease as it has spread onto my brother and a few others. My ability is to do with light and my brothers is shadow, I've also seen; fire, water, earth and air, as in the four cardinal elements, yet... mine and my brothers abilities are different. Perhaps there are others like us who have different abilities as mine and my brothers are the only two that I've seen. It seems our family name is famous around the kingdom, the name of ..... might soon be known around the world."
The family name seemed to of been burnt along with half of the other pages remaining. Marcel sat back in the chair he was in, and stared at the book for a moment.
"I think I've had enough insanity for one day, good day to you headmaster" Marcel says, retreating from the ornate room, to head back to his friends and call it a night at a hotel near the academy.
