Chapter 9 - Perfection's Storm

Michael and Bete started by lunging at each other, weapons clashing against weapons whilst Bete was just smiling as if she was enjoying the fight way too much. Lukas was right... this mission was easy for Michael as he had fought beings far stronger than what stood before him. "You know... I see now why Lukas sent me to stall you... this is far too easy and it would just be a waste of his time." Michael spoke as he was getting cocky... his own self confidence blinding him from what he was really up against. "Oh... I'm not strong enough for Lukas... is that it? I don't understand how I could be stronger to be honest... would you mind telling me?" Bete asked as she was starting to get frustrated. "Why would I tell the enemy how to be stronger?" Michael replied with another question as he was surprised someone like Bete would even ask a question such as this. "Ha... right... I forgot I was only toying with my prey... I'm so good at convincing people to the point that I even started convincing myself that I was weak... oh well... at least I remembered." Bete explained as she was clearly just making an excuse for not trying her best during the battle... and at that moment, her eyes started turning black. "Your not fighting a human Michael... you are not fighting a monster either... you're fighting the Goddess of Fear!" Bete yelled in a corrupted voice before she seemingly disappeared.

Michael looked around, worried that Bete was still around... and he was right in assuming that as soon after, he saw her for just a second before she disappeared again. "What's the matter? Can you not fight what you can't see? Well that is just disappointing for someone who is supposedly incredibly powerful... but I guess power can't get you very far in life." Bete laughed whilst taunting Michael. "You know... you say you're the goddess of fear... so I find it ironic that you seem to be scared out of your mind since you're too afraid to even have a fair fight." Michael retorted as he knew he couldn't fight back so he tried his best to anger the enemy. "Oh... believe me... I'm not scared... it's just that fear likes to play unfair games... I'm just doing what I do best...and also what I love doing at the same time... all that I'm doing is just making my life more fun!" Bete explained as Michael's attempts to annoy her were clearly failing. Now, Michael was really starting to get annoyed... he hated Bete already and he normally likes people... even Destroyers... for at least a few days before they only become an annoyance to him.

All of a sudden, Michael's body recoiled from something... and the systems inside of Michael's body warned him of the critical damage he had received from an attack. Suddenly, Michael started being attacked from all directions by energy sent out by Bete's scythe. He barely stood a chance against this...he couldn't even recover from one attack before being hit again. "Just admit it... you were never of any use to The Multiverse... and now you never will be!" Bete shouted as Michael had become pretty much motionless. "It's such a shame that all the people with determination that I have found have been a total pushover! Only Lukas has had some chance against me and he just runs away at any chances he gets and then sends in other people to fight me for him! It's not fair!" Bete screamed as she was standing over Michael's critically damaged body. "Wow... no wonder Lukas sent me to fight you... he must be so tired of how you contradict yourself you say that you love to have an unfair fight and then you complain about how everything is unfair." Michael explained as he was trying to make Bete as angry as possible. "Oh just shut up! I thought you were dead... you were supposed to die in Perfection's base... so if they can't do it, I'll do it myself!" Bete yelled as she raised her scythe to deal the final blow. "Well... here we go again... I wonder what death will feel like this time." Michael thought to himself as the scythe came crashing down onto his soul.

When Michael was revived by his determination, he wasn't in the same place that he normally wakes up in after he dies. "You didn't let her kill you... did you? Please tell me that you were just there the whole time." Eanaro's familiar voice asked. "What? Does it matter if I did die? I just come back every time I die so I don't see the problem." Michael questioned Eanaro whilst getting used to being alive again. "You know there is a problem with you dying Michael... it corrupts everything... the system isn't used to beings coming back from the dead. The more you come back, the higher the chances are that reality will cease to exist. Obviously you know what will have to be done if it gets to that point right?" Eanaro retorted whilst feeling a bit concerned. "I thought you remembered Eanaro. I thought that you of all people would remember that we don't share the same system as most other beings in existence. The only one that would lose something from me dying is myself." Michael explained to Eanaro. "I... didn't know that... thank you for the valuable information Michael. I'm being serious... I thought I would never be able to destroy you without destroying the system and killing everyone else... but now that I know that beings like you and I aren't connected to the same system as the majority of others... that will make it so much easier!" Eanaro admitted whilst chuckling to himself... but soon after, that chuckling turned into laughter... into the laugh of someone who had gone insane... as if he had waited his whole life just to here that he could kill Michael. "Ha ha very funny... you can stop now. You're not seriously thinking about betraying everybody here are you? Also... why are you talking like you and I are one and the same?" Michael practically begged for an answer. "Michael... you can't hide it anymore because I know Michael. I know Michael. I know." Eanaro said as his laugh faded and in it's place... a terrifying smile emerged.

Suddenly, an alarm was sounded throughout The Sanctuary and a voice spoke through a speaker. "This is a message to all available Protectors: Lukas wishes to meet you all at the coordinates that have been messaged to you, this is an emergency... I repeat, this an emergency!" The alarm screeched through the speakers. "Well... it has been nice speaking to you Michael but it seems that we must be off... I'll meet you there." Eanaro spoke as his smile disappeared and he tapped the ground with his umbrella before being enveloped in a blue light and disappearing. "I won't let this be the end Eanaro! I will stop you from doing this... you may be good at intimidation... but only because you lack that same skill when it comes to battles!" Michael yelled into the empty space as he set off to his next mission. As Michael was approaching the coordinates, he could see some energy readings getting unusually high for The Multiverse... he thought that this is why he was brought here. "Michael." A voice whispered suddenly. He stopped moving and examined his surroundings... there was no one there. "Don't trust them." The voice said whispering to Michael again. "Don't worry... it will all be over soon." The voice explained. Before he knew it, Michael was back in the endless abyss again... and that awful feeling of constantly falling had overpowered everything else he was feeling. "Not again... what now?" Michael thought. He looked down and he could see a few images of events that had already taken place... they flew past him as he descended... he saw a few more familiar events... but they flew past him quicker... before he knew it, the images were flying past him so fast that he couldn't even see what they were showing... then suddenly... he couldn't see anything and he heard a voice... or was it multiple voices? The speaking seemed to be coming from a single entity that was just out of sight but the voice was somehow high and low and everything in between at once. The voice also sounded highly distorted as it finished speaking with Michael... "Remember... you only have one last chance Michael... do not disappoint me again." The voice demanded before Michael woke up... back in The Multiverse.

Michael simply nodded his head as if he understood what the voice said and he carried on with his mission and eventually met up with Lukas and everyone else. "Michael... what took you so long?" Lukas shouted. "You know what? I'd rather not say... you probably wouldn't believe me." Michael replied. "Fine... oh about Bete... let me just say that... you did better than most people normally do." Lukas explained as the rest of The Protectors started laughing. "What are we here for?" Michael asked. "We have reason to believe that a portal will open here and Omega will be the one travelling through it." Eanaro replied. "They're a bit foolish don't you think? Lukas has defeated Omega before... we're all stronger now and now they're sending in Omega again? It's a bit stupid if you ask me." One of The Protectors spoke whilst laughing. "Who are these guys? I know they're Protectors but... don't you think I should at least know the names of my companions?" Michael inquired. "Sorry Michael... but we can do the introductions later... as of right now... we've got a giant killing machine to take down." Lukas replied confidently. "Come on... can't you treat me like I'm a little more than just a pawn?" Michael asked. "Well I-" Lukas was saying but a portal opened up just in front of them. "Get ready everyone!" Eanaro yelled.

Omega did come through the portal... but it looked different... it's exterior was now a golden colour and the unidentified material on it was now glowing blue, the energy coming out of it's head was now blue... and it seemed that it now had a beam sabre on it's back. Almost immediately everyone started attacking it... and it seemed that Omega was actually being damaged... it was even letting out a few screeches like it was in pain... but it couldn't feel pain could it? It was just a robot after all. Michael's attacks seemed to be doing nothing untiled tried using his determination to power up his attacks... and even then he was doing around the same amount of damage as everyone else. Eventually, Omega stopped reacting to everyone's attacks... in fact it wasn't moving at all... but it was still making noises. "Michael... no... Tabuu Michael you not are you." Omega spoke as it just seemed to speak random words... this surprised everyone as they did not know that Omega could speak. "Stop... me attacking not threat a... stop." Omega seemed to just be talking gibberish. "Everyone stop attacking!" Lukas demanded as he seemed to be able to understand Omega. When everyone had stopped fighting, Omega still refused to move... but it kept saying seemingly random words. "What is it that you were saying Omega?" Lukas asked. "Perfection... not... my... home... true. Lukas...Niko... Bete... friends... opponent... worthy. Reukra... not...perfect... Taen... imperfection incarnate." Omega explained. Lukas looked at Omega with a shocked expression whilst everyone else just seemed confused. "Can... can you tell us more?" Lukas asked Omega. "Michael...your...friend...not...pretending...you...know... already...Tabuu...don't...forget." Omega said. Lukas looked terrified and he gestured for Eanaro to come closer... he whispered something to him... and then they continued to listen to Omega.

"Lukas...friend...don't...want...to...forget. Tyrant...invade...friend...calamity...Cal...no...her...name...don't...say...too...dangerous." Omega spoke. As soon as Omega finished the last sentence, Lukas looked terrified. "You... you don't mean-" Lukas was saying but he was cut off by Omega. "She...alive...don't...deny...you...knew. Don't...say...her...name." Omega confirmed Lukas' suspicions. At that moment, Lukas looked at the orb that he brought with him everywhere before he started crying. "No... that's not possible... she's dead... she is dead and she will be dead forever!" Lukas yelled in between sobs. "Lukas what do you mean?" Eanaro asked whilst trying to get him to calm down. "Friend." Omega simply said. Lukas looked up at Omega. "What?" Lukas asked. "She...is...friend. You...need...to...make...her...a...friend...she...did...not...choose...this." Omega explained. Taen came through the portal with a furious look in his eyes. "Omega! What are you doing? Destroy these pathetic insects!" Taen shouted. "Taen...imperfect...Vitreus...traitor." Omega slowly spoke. "What did you say about me?" Taen asked angrily. "You imperfect being... you traitor of Perfection... no denying the fact that you hate them." Omega said... this time he wasn't taking pauses between words. "Oh good... at least your voice box has stopped malfunctioning... but it seems that we're going to have to take you back to base to fix a few more glitches." Taen told himself. "Your not doing anything to Omega!" Lukas shouted. "Oh really? I forgot that kids were more powerful than adults who are more technologically advanced than them." Taen said in a sarcastic voice as he put his hand to his ear. "Get Omega back to base... I've got some hostiles to deal with." Taen explained.

Lukas dashed towards Taen... but a barrier made of blue cubes stopped him. "Well...what did you expect to happen? Did you seriously think I would be unequipped?" Taen asked. "Well you seem like the type of person who would be stupid enough to come unprepared... just looking at you tells me all I really need to know about you... and all I see in you is a pathetic individual who thinks that if he wants something, then he gets it." Lukas replied. "Your attempts to provoke me are failing hilariously... I sense a presence coming closer... I'll leave you to deal with them." Taen explained as he walked back through the portal. "Lukas. You know what to do." Omega told Lukas before a giant chain came out of the portal and dragged Omega through. "Oh... what's this? Is that Lukas I see down there? If Lukas is here then this is going to be fun!" A familiar sounding voice asked from above. "Oh... great...absolutely fantastic! You guys can leave... me and Niko will deal with Bete. Well at least we get to have a bit of fun today." Lukas agreed with Bete whilst sighing. Everyone left, including Michael, back to The Sanctuary... but when they returned... the place was overrun by giant spider like machines... and many bodies were seen all around...before anyone knew it, all of the robots were charging towards them.

"Do you know how hard it is to try and pretend to cry to the point where even Michael would fall for it?" "No I don't... but is that important? What about the things that Omega said?" Ah yes... Omega... does he want us to succeed... or is he misleading us?" "I don't know... but whether you choose to believe him or not... no matter what... just remember that I trust you... and I trust that the decision that you'll make will be the right one... regardless if I agree with it or not." You're too innocent for this hell that we call The Great War of The Multiverse... but you are one of the only things that keeps me going... I can't thank you enough for how you've helped me." "There's no need to thank me... my kindness knows no ends and I don't need thanks for anything that I do." "I trust Omega... I think that Omega was right... we can end this war and defeat any enemies who may arrive afterwards!" "Yeah... I think the both of us can do anything together." "Definitely... the three of us can." "Wait... three?" "Yes three... look in front of you... she deserves better than what she has gotten... we all do." "Well...Lukas... I... I trust your judgement of her."
