The old man, on the other end of the line, spoke cheerfully with a kind voice, "Chuck, the weather's quite nice today. Come over to the estate and play some chess with me."

Faye smiled with a hint of deeper meaning, "Alright, I'll come over and play chess with you."
He could easily guess what the old man was up to; if he directly invited him for a blind date, he would definitely not go, but calling it a chess game, he couldn't refuse.
This matter required an explanation eventually; the old man's wish needed to be fulfilled; otherwise, he would likely keep persisting.
The old man was thrilled to know Faye would be coming.
After hanging up, he instructed Kelly, "Go outside and check if Bella has arrived. She's taking a taxi, and it can't enter the estate. Drive out and bring her in."
