Mom Langdon cast a glance at Renee Langdon and saw her face pale, looking utterly crushed.
She softened her tone and said to Renee, "I know you definitely can't accept this right now, but one day you'll be grateful to Mom for it. Once bitten by a snake, you'll fear even a well rope for ten years. I really don't want you getting tricked by some so‑called Best Actor."
Renee said firmly, "Mom, just because it happened to you doesn't mean it'll happen to me. I believe Quinn Leroy is not that kind of man."
"What do you know? The entertainment circle is not as simple as you think," Mom Langdon's tone went cold again.
Renee explained, "The entertainment industry isn't all dark. Sure, some of it is overly glorified, but some of it is overly vilified too. It's just a job. I don't know what other people are like; all I do every day is figure out how to act well."
