"Why are you not in bed?"
Kristin's face blushed. Even though she knew the purpose of the question, hearing it from Mel made her feel embarrassed.
"I feel good! I should leave before I become a burden on you any longer!"
Kristin, bowing her head, mumbled. She did not dare say what was on her mind. Mel let out a deep breath, pushed the door ajar, and sat in the wide-backed chair near the head of the table.
"Kristin, you can stay here as long as you want. Stop, do not interrupt me! I know you would not accept such a thing, would you?"
Without giving the young girl, who attempted to intervene, the opportunity to interrupt, Mel continued to speak.
"I knew it, so I arranged something for you. I do not insist, but if you accept it, I will be thrilled."
The timid state of the young girl also seemed to worry Mel. He got up without staying long and headed for the door. He was never good at speaking, preferring to show it directly instead.
