As the second day concluded, the students of the Fifteenth Ward, rushing to reunite with their pillows stuffed with wild beast feathers, learned that the trial awaiting them before ascending in the rankings would take place tomorrow.
They were mandated to defend the Outer Circle's gate—which was at least as corrupted as the circle itself—against the wild beasts surging from the shallow valley. Had they progressed according to the normal rankings, they might still have had a few days before the new month's inaugural skirmish, yet as a culmination of their rapid ascent, the time for war was arriving prematurely.
"Rest up tonight, the first battle tomorrow is ours. If you stick to the plan, I don't think we'll have any issues!"
