Chapter 339 - Chapter 340: The Captain-Commander's Flame

[Please begin writing your story.]

[Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, originally named Yamamoto Shigekuni, founded the "Gen-ryu" school in the distant past of Soul Society.]

[Thousands of years ago, Yamamoto Shigekuni led a group of powerful warriors to form a team and battled the Quincy group led by Yhwach.]

[Ultimately, Yamamoto Shigekuni proved superior in skill and defeated Yhwach, but was unable to kill him.]

[With the war's end, this team became the Gotei 13.]

[Time has arrived in the modern era, and Yamamoto Shigekuni has become an old man with white hair and beard.]

[When Kurosaki Ichigo invaded Soul Society, he was dissatisfied with Yoriichi Tsugikuni and Kyōraku Shunsui, who had secretly aided Ichigo, so he unleashed his Zanpakutō in an attempt to defeat them.]

[It was at this time that he learned of Aizen's rebellion. Yamamoto Shigekuni immediately called a truce with several captains and rushed to Sōkyoku Hill to capture Aizen, but unfortunately, he was still too late. Upon learning of Aizen's intentions, he ordered Yoriichi Tsugikuni and the others to Hueco Mundo to support Kurosaki Ichigo, while he himself led the remaining captains into the real world to confront the Arrancar.]

[Unfortunately, by the time he faced Aizen, Yamamoto Shigekuni's Zanpakutō had been sealed, leaving him unable to use his Bankai, forcing him to engage Aizen with his bare hands. Fortunately, Kurosaki Ichigo arrived in time to take over the fight from the old man.]

[After successfully capturing Aizen, peace returned to Soul Society. That is, until Yamamoto Shigekuni's millennia-old rival, Yhwach, invaded Soul Society again.]

[Following the death of his lieutenant, Chōjirō Sasakibe, the old man fell into a rage. However, the members of Yhwach's Sternritter were no match for him.]

[Facing an enemy he hadn't slain for millennia, Yamamoto Shigekuni decisively used his Bankai. After a bitter battle, the old man successfully slew what he believed to be Yhwach.]

[Ultimately, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni met his end at the real Yhwach's hands.]

After completing card creation, Azrael opened his eyes and looked at the card depicting a bald old man with a long white beard. A hint of joy crossed his face.

"We've gathered four captain-level cards. All we have to do is upgrade [Seireitei] to Diamond."

"Then we can summon the Chief Monk of Squad Zero."

The young man felt that the characters summoned by such demanding abilities couldn't be weak, otherwise it would be a waste of effort to create four captain-level cards. Fortunately, Captain-Commander Yamamoto was a powerful figure, and with the added bonus of many special features, he wouldn't be at a loss.

With this thought, Azrael reached out and grabbed the card in front of him, then recalled it to his mind.

The information on Yamamoto Shigekuni's card was pretty much what Azrael had expected. However, he didn't dare test whether the Zanka no Tachi truly possessed a temperature comparable to the core of the sun. After all, in the original story, the old man's Bankai was powerful enough to evaporate the entire Soul Society.

Velkairos wasn't as large as Soul Society.

Although Azrael thought this was likely just exaggeration.

"But with so many bonuses, the captain-general shouldn't be much weaker than Ichigo."

He briefly considered it and concluded that Yamamoto Shigekuni's strength was probably comparable to Kurosaki Ichigo's in his Bankai state. Perhaps the orange-haired boy might even surpass him when he unleashed his final Getsuga Tenshō.

Overall, the cards he had crafted were quite powerful. The next day, Azrael arrived at the shore of Velkairos as agreed. Dareth was already waiting.

"Uncle Dareth, good morning," the young man said casually, his gaze fixed on the distant, silent entrance to the secret realm.

He could still see the wreckage of some massive warships on the sea, sunk by Barrett's men in the aftermath of the previous battle.

Dareth then asked, "Azrael, do you need me to send someone in with you?"

Normally, it would be impossible to allow Azrael, a Diamond-level Lore Cardian, to enter this unknown secret realm alone. After all, no one knew what lay within, and if there were other Diamond-level demons, it would be disastrous.

But Azrael was someone who could even fight Master-level demons now, so naturally, he could do as he pleased. However, if this secret realm truly contained a Master-level demon, then the previous battle would have been inevitable.

Hearing this, Azrael shook his head slightly. "No need, Uncle Dareth. I'll go in alone."

"Okay, I'll bring someone to watch here. Don't be afraid."

This was only natural. The Seven Seas Secret Realm and the Demon's Nest weren't far apart. If the Flesh King truly intended to block the entrance, Dareth would be able to call on Lucian for help in time.

After a brief conversation, Azrael prepared to set off for the newly revealed entrance. Having shed his identity as a member of the Crimson Oath Society, he could now directly utilize Shiraori's spatial magic.

In the blink of an eye, the young man entered the Seven Seas Secret Realm.

However, upon entering, Azrael was startled. He cast his gaze northward in disbelief, muttering to himself, "No way!"

The young man had just wanted to try his luck today, but unexpectedly, he seemed to have won the jackpot.

At this moment, Azrael's mind was filled with ripples from several cards categorized as "Las Noches-related." These vague signs hinted at something attracting them to the north of this secret realm.

The young man had sensed this ripple before, also within the Seven Seas. Crucially, that time, with guidance, he had obtained the "Land of Chaos," the material needed to craft Las Noches.

Temporarily suppressing his surprise, Azrael followed the ripples. He then spotted a vast island.

The massive ships docked near the island made it clear that this was Barrett's lair. However, Azrael's mental perception revealed few pirates remaining on the island.

Without hesitation, he immediately released his cards to clear out the remaining demons, leaving only Shiraori to guard nearby. Caution was crucial.

Ignoring the violent explosions and screams, the young man headed straight for the magnificent palace at the island's center.

Unlike Azrael's stereotypical image of pirates living in filthy, messy conditions, Barrett's residence was remarkably tidy. An uninformed observer might mistake it for the palace of some unknown king.

But he no longer cared about his surroundings. His gaze was now fixed on the material floating in the center of the palace.

"Sure enough," Azrael muttered, then stepped forward with mixed emotions to retrieve the material.

Diamond-level [A Place of Order Above Chaos] (Red).

Looking at the venue material in his hand, the young man was at a loss for words. He had already plundered two venue materials related to [Las Noches] in the [Seven Seas] secret realm.

The fact that a secret realm apparently devoted entirely to pirates had produced materials related to the Shinigami left Azrael speechless. It was so smooth that he even felt like the heavens were feeding him.

Of course, it might not be an illusion.

Azrael looked up at the sky obscured by the palace's roof and whispered, "If you did this, then give us some response."

He finished his words, but silence met his gaze. It seemed he had been overthinking things.

With a silent sigh, the young man summoned the [Las Noches] card. With a flash of dazzling light, [Las Noches] officially reached Diamond level.

"So, Ulquiorra and Nel will unlock new forms."

When [Las Noches] reaches Diamond rank, Nel will gain a new form, and Ulquiorra Cifer will gain a new form, [World of Nothingness].

With Ulquiorra as a reference, Azrael knew this new form was the Espada's Hōgyoku transformation.

But soon, a question arose in his mind, "What will Aizen's new form be?"

"He already fused with the Hōgyoku after reaching Diamond rank?"

Azrael pondered for a moment, unable to grasp the answer, and then suppressed his doubts.

"Now all we need is [Seireitei]."

With this thought, Azrael realized he might have been overthinking it. After all, if the World Consciousness was truly helping him, they could simply throw all the materials he needed in his face. There was no need for such roundabout means.

And it wasn't just him; other Master-level and Sovereign-level Lore Cardians could do the same.

So far, the only material Azrael could confirm was given to him by the World Consciousness was the Gold-level material dropped by the Emerald-level demon.

By the time the young man had upgraded [Las Noches], the remaining demons on the island had been largely eliminated by a multitude of cards.

Looking at Ulquiorra and Nel before him, Azrael immediately prepared to test the effects of the Diamond-level [Las Noches].

With wisps of spiritual pressure, one pink and one pale green, soaring into the sky, the two Espadas quickly revealed a completely new form before the young man's eyes.

Sensing their auras, Azrael couldn't help but stroke his chin. "Putting aside all the characteristics, just in terms of strength, is it already at the level of a typical Diamond-level card?"

It must be said that [Las Noches] was an extremely powerful venue card for any Diamond-level Lore Cardian. And the Arrancar-type cards alone were enough to support a small system.

However, Azrael didn't plan to create the other Espadas. Despite his immense mental power, he wasn't one to squander it. A few ordinary Diamond-level combatants were better than nothing for him at this point.

What the young man needed now were powerful cards like Luffy, Kurosaki Ichigo, and Aizen.

After a brief test, Azrael had Ulquiorra and Nel release their Hōgyoku Transformation. He then turned his gaze to the indifferent old man leaning on a cane.

"Next, I'll have to trouble Captain-Commander Yamamoto."

"Let me see your strength."

On the shore, Dareth was closely watching the entrance to the [Demon's Nest].

"Why hasn't Azrael come out in so long? Could it be..."

Just as the middle-aged man was thinking this, a somewhat disheveled figure appeared beside him.

He was startled and instinctively asked, "Azrael, what's wrong with you?"

"Are there dangerous demons in that secret realm?"

It was naturally Azrael. Although the young man's clothes were intact, his face was somewhat dusty.

He waved his hand and coughed. "No, it was my own carelessness."

"I didn't estimate the power of the new card."

While the card couldn't harm the Lore Cardian, the aftermath of the attack could sometimes affect the holder.

Dareth was already accustomed to Azrael's Lore Cardian speed. He simply joked, "It's a shame you didn't experiment in the city, Azrael."

It wasn't uncommon for Lore Cardians to test newly crafted cards directly in the city, but it was a very dangerous act.

Hearing this, Azrael simply shook his head and got down to business. "Uncle Dareth, I've thoroughly explored the secret realm, but I might have missed some demons, so it's best to send someone in to clear it out later."

With that, he handed the materials he'd found in the secret realm to Dareth. They were Emerald and Gold-grade materials, completely useless to the young man.

"I understand," Dareth nodded, then signaled his team of Lore Cardians to enter the secret realm.

However, once the Lore Cardians entered the Seven Seas secret realm, they noticed the temperature around them seemed slightly higher than outside. However, given the potential for any environment within the secret realm, the Lore Cardians didn't take the incident seriously.

Silverbrook High School.

As the school bell rang, a teenager tidied his books on his desk, picked up his worn schoolbag, and prepared to return home.

Just then, a young girl hurried over, saying in a somewhat complaining tone, "Geralt, why are you leaving in such a hurry?"

"There's no one at home anyway."

Hearing this, Geralt glanced speechlessly at the girl beside him, who was completely unaware of her misstep. But knowing that she had no ill intentions, he could only say helplessly, "Miss, why are you always pestering me?"

"I have things to do too."

Hearing this, the girl's mouth pursed. "Geralt, you've changed. You never talked to me like this before."

"Now you've become a genius at our Silverbrook High School, and you don't look down on me anymore."

As she spoke, her big eyes blinked as if tears were about to fall. Thinking of the care the girl's family had given him during this period, Geralt could only offer gentle comfort.

Before long, the girl burst into laughter, then pulled the boy's sleeve mysteriously, "Geralt, I heard that during the lecture earlier, President Azrael asked Principal Kang about you privately."

"Do you think he wants to take you on as a disciple?"

Geralt's mind instantly recalled the gentle young man. He curled his lips and said noncommittally, "Who knows?"

The boy was confident that even without anyone to teach him, he could become a powerful Lore Cardian on his own.

Seeing that he seemed reluctant to discuss this matter, the girl changed the subject, "Are you confident in the upcoming four-district joint entrance examination?"

"Principal Kang said that many important people will be attending."

Hearing this, Geralt felt the sword prop card in his mind, which had never appeared in this world, and a confident smile appeared on his face.

"The glory of Silverbrook High School will be protected by me."
