Chapter 16 - Chapter 15

The sky was heart broken. She poured her tears on the earth, lightening and thunder releasing her anger. When a loud crack stoke through the sky, I was wide awake, panting from the nightmare that I had.

Touching my throat that felt irritated. The nightmare felt so real and that man was dangerous.

Standing there in a castle watching the ocean bounce off the rocky edge, there came a tall dark man from the shadows. I remember stepping away from him, and running in my wolf form, but he was faster than me.

He grabbed my neck with one hand, I felt the powerful grip closing my off my air supply. I looked at the man with fear, but also anger for some reason, he looked back at me with nothing, but his blood red eyes.

His grip tightened and I was forced to change into my human form, when he was satisfied he let go, but not before he spoke in his ice cold voice.

"You do not run from me, Mackenzie Ernchester." Then I woke up.

Ernchester, was the family name way back in the 1700's there were also other journals in father's stash. However that doesn't make sense why he would call me that. 'Who was that man?'

Getting dressing in a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, I opened the door quietly. I left my dress in the room since I was going back after I explored the house a little bit. Wondering down random hallways, I came across a game room, another bedroom and another library.

There was a door at the end of the hallway that I didn't bother looking into, there was a weird smell wafting in the air, but I left it alone. I wasn't necessarily snooping, I was just bored. When I found the living room again, it was dark because of the heavy thunderstorm.

"Miss, are you hungry?" I turned around to see Anthony standing in the doorway. It was once again that I felt like I knew this man. I smiled at him as a greeting then spoke.

"I would appreciate that. Do we know each other?" He stood there in silence then shook his head.

"No we do not." He spoke in a distant voice then turned around. He walked away quietly, I stayed because I wanted to look at the bookshelves for another book to read.

When I grabbed a book of the shelf and read the title, I heard the heavy footsteps of a wolf come toward me. I turned slightly and looked into the wolf's eyes, those bright teal eyes reminded me of the ocean I went to when I was younger.

"You know you have a horrible habit of sneaking up on me. Something that I'm not pleased with, however it's funny to see you act this way." I spoke and he shifted. I looked away when he decided to shift and busied myself with the bookshelf until he had clothes on.

"I woke up in this form, and I was worried that you left me." He spoke as Anthony walked into the room with enough food to feed a family of four. He placed down the tray with bacon and sausage and left to get more food.

"You going to eat most of this?" I asked looking at how much meat was on this plate. I reached for a couple of pieces of bacon when he grunted.

"Actually no, he just makes so much." I nodded and finished eating the bacon in my hand. I was once again looking at the bookshelves. There had to be a book here that would explain more about the supernatural world.

Walking into the dark room, there she was, the scent of vanilla and cedar wood, wafting from the living room. Watching her for a couple of minutes as she scanned the bookshelves, I took a couple of steps toward her.

When I came close to her, she turned and smiled, then spoke her sweet words with a hint of humor. It was hard to focus on what she was saying, while I was in my beast form, there was such a strong urge to mark her right then and there.

I shifted just to control him, and she looked away once again busying herself with the bookshelves, I quickly put on a pair of sweatpants that was lying there for me, on the coach, then waited for her attention.

"I woke up in this form, and I was worried that you left me." I spoke in a distant tone, she turned around and gave me a shocked looked. Then she looked outside when Anthony brought in breakfast watching the sky.

When she turned fully toward me, I saw the hand prints on her neck. My beast was livid, someone touched my mate. I stayed quiet till she asked me a question about the food. Although it change my thought I was out for blood for the one that touched Kenzie.

When breakfast was over we just sat there and watched the sky pour her tears. Occasionally Kenzie would speak a word, but then she went quiet.

I reached out to touch her neck and brushed my fingers over the light bruises. "Where did these come from?" I asked when I took my eyes off the wounds to her blue eyes.

She looked at me confused then jumped up and looked into the mirror that was in the room. She was shocked, she touched her neck analyzing the wounds and she muttered "It was real." under her breath.

"What happened?" I asked once again, I stayed rooted in my spot watching her process my question. She turned her focus away from the mirror to Anthony who was walking in with another tray of food.

[I don't know what happened, I thought it was a nightmare.] She scrunched her eyebrows together when she mind-linked with me. [Although, I could tell he knew me, when he called me by my family's ancient surname.] She watched Anthony leave the room before she shifted her focus on me.

"And what was that?" I spoke aloud when she took a breath, she looked back into the mirror with a frustrated look.

"Ernchester is the family name. The weird thing about him, was his blood red eyes. I was trying to find a book about the supernatural being to find which one he was." She looked at me with questioning look, I sighed then stood up.

"Kenzie, what did he do to you in the nightmare?" I asked walking toward, and pulling her close to me, breathing in her scent, calming the beast who was creating an internal storm.

"I was at a castle near an ocean, it was cold and dark. I was watching out a window when he stepped from the shadows behind me. When I noticed him I ran, but he was faster than me, even when I was in my wolf form.

"He choked me till I was in my human form, and spoke. 'You do not run from me, Mackenzie Ernchester'. Then I woke up. Jacob!" She hollered grabbing my attention, then reached out and touched my face, calming me instantly.

"Your eyes are darker, closer to black then teal." She called to me, then relaxed when she saw I calmed down. I was mad that a vampire touched my mate, the audacity.
