Chapter 31 - Chapter 29

Staring at the ceiling, for a good half-hour, I thought about the connection between the pureblood vampire and me, thinking back to that piece of information that mentioned Luna's blood can make a vampire invincible, but based on the prophecy, I didn't think I was possible.

It was well into the morning, as I woke up at the first light ray, and the first thing that popped up in my mind was that stupid connection. After staring at the ceiling for a bit, I moved to the comfortable chair that looked out the massive floor-to-ceiling window, watching the remaining sunrise, in the midst of clearing my mind.

When the sun was fully up, and the few animals that ventured into the forest, returned to their nests and burrows, I decided that it was finally time for me to get dressed for the day. Standing up, I changed into another set of clothes provided by Anthony. A t-shirt, shorts, and a straightener that I requested earlier.

I felt relieved that I wasn't going to have to wear sweatpants since it was slowly warming up in London and Birmingham, as we've had lots of sunshine. After I straightened my hair, I put in the hairpin that Rhonda bought for me, after I pulled it into a half bun, pulling down some side bangs.

"Good morning darling." I was greeted as soon as I opened the bedroom door, to see Jacob standing in front of it, holding a bouquet, most of them were tulips. I small smile came across my face, and I took a step out of my room, closing the door behind me.

"Good morning," I mumbled, taking the flowers out of his hand, bringing them up to my nose to smell the warm sweet fragrance. "Is there a way that I can convince you to take me back to Birmingham?" I asked, finally glancing up into his teal eyes, and he frowned immediately.

"Do you still have a fever?" He asked after a couple of moments of silence between us while raising his hand to feel my forehead, and I closed my eyes for a second, trying to not picture that nightmare I had a while back. "I wouldn't dare to hurt you, be at ease." He muttered in a pained voice and I quickly opened them, biting my lip as I was lost for words.

Taking in a deep breath, I bravely lift my hand from my side, cupping his cheek, in a comforting motion. He knitted his brows together, turning his teal eyes to meet my blueish-green, and I swallowed, a bit nervous, as he looked at me. "I know you would never hurt me, I'm just still shaken up from the current events. You understand right?" I asked in a quiet voice, before glancing at the newcomer, who was stepping up the stairs

Taking a second to determine the shoe type I frowned as I noticed they were heels, and then an expensive perfume wafted into my nose, and my wolf was suddenly begging to come out of the shell, but I kept in control. It seemed I would also have to fight the random pangs of jealousy.

"CEO King, there are countless meetings that you need to attend, and because you weren't answering my call, I decid--" The blond older female secretary stopped in her tracks as well as her sentence as she noticed me at the top of the stairs, with a frown on my face. Her eyes widen upon seeing me, before lowering them.

"So you decided to come to his house." I finished the sentence for her, and she swallowed, suddenly nervous about what was happening. Putting up a fake smile, I stepped down the steps, not bothering to glance at Jacob who knew exactly what was going on and didn't bother to stop me.

As I entered the kitchen, Anthony set down a plate of food, warily glancing at the staircase, where both Jacob and the young lady were standing there in silence, either stunned to finish her message or because there was the daughter of their rival in this house.

"Don't get worked up about it, Miss Young, she's just an employee." He patted my hand, and I smiled.

"I'm not bothered by her, seeing how Jacob treats her, there is nothing for me to worry about. Is there a way that Micheal is available?" I asked, and he tilted his head, thinking for a moment before shaking his head.

"I don't think you should return to Birmingham, just yet. Here is the recent article related to the incident that happened at Young Inc., and based on it, I think you're father wouldn't be pleased about you being back." He handed me a tablet with an article, that took information from both the victim and my father who ordered that the person should be found.

"It would be impossible for him to find the person anyway." I scoffed under my breath, setting the tablet on the counter. Letting out a tired sigh, I shoved a bite of the hashbrowns into my mouth.

Glancing at the old man, I studied him closely, as I was still trying to figure out who he was. Based on how he spoke, his attitude, and those rare times that I caught him staring at me like he was watching a child grow up, I knew that he knew me.

I knew he lied to me when, he told me that he didn't know me because when he said that statement, his emotions and body language told me otherwise. And when I'm around him at odd times, there weren't moments of awkwardness, rather, it's like being around someone that I've known for a great part of my life, which is mostly my family.

Looking away from Anthony, I glanced at the staircase which was still quiet, because they either stepped into a bedroom, or the secretary was still stunned to speak, yet I didn't think that was the problem.

"Master, already called your father and relayed to him that you were fine. He did mention that you were staying here, and in response, Mr. Young decided to send someone your way. I think her name was Rhonda?" He asked to himself, and I nodded, pleased that I could have Rhonda here to discuss some things.

"Yes, her name is Rhonda." I confirmed and he nodded letting out a small sigh of relief, before turning around to wash the dishes in the sick.

"Jacob, you can't just stay here, holed up for a couple of days, because of your visitor!" A female voice echoed in the house, and I let out a small scoff, as I listened to the human. "This isn't a small matter either, your father told me either to bring you to the company where he can discuss this year's plans or he'll come." She followed Jacob down the stairs, into the living room, and I watched the whole thing, as she walked around with ease trying to keep up with him.

She glanced in my direction, dropping her head as she was embarrassed that she was chasing the CEO, who looked slightly irritated with what she said. He took a seat in one of the leather seats in the living room, avoiding her stern green eyes, and her nagging tone but it didn't help.

"What do you think he would say if, he saw the young daughter of our rival in your house? By the looks of it, it's not her first time." She asked while clenching up her hands, and I nodded, watching the scene while drinking my glass of water.

"What happens between my father and I shouldn't be any of your business. Neither what is happening between me and Miss Young." He answered in a cold tone, and she lowered her eyes, biting her tongue as she overstepped her boundaries. "Go ahead and tell my father to meet me here, I have no intention of leaving my house until I have other business settled." He ordered while indicating to the door as he was finished talking to her.

She took in a deep breath, before nodding, bowing to both me and Jacob, but there was a glint of disapproval in her eyes as she met my gaze, and I answered with my disapproval as well, sarcastically cheering to her, and she could tell with the look on my face.

"Your father should arrive within the next hour, just be prepared." She warned under her breath, and we nodded in unison, watching her leave the house. Jacob let out a tired sigh like that whole interaction took all the energy he had for the day, and I left him alone, watching the waterfall in the backyard.

We stayed like that in silence, in our worlds, until we heard another fancy car pull up the house, I walked to Jacob's side, and he gently put his hand on my side, holding me close, as it seemed he wanted to make an announcement.

When Jacob's father stepped into the living room, he widen his eyes as he meet my gaze, before dropping his gaze to Jacob's hand on my side and taking in a deep breath glancing back to where a stunning woman walked into the house, looking exactly like Jacob.

"Mother, Father." Jacob greeted them, tipping his head and I followed the motion, before bringing my gaze back to his mother. Her brown hair was shoulder-length, she wore a red dress that pulled out her brown eyes, which I thought were beautiful. Jacob's father had teal eyes, that were constantly observing me.

"It seems we have good news that is being brought to us." His mother stepped forward, reaching to touch my cheek, and I looked away, trying to not think about my mother. His mother noticed my reaction, and choose to pat the top of my head, instead. "So you're my son's mate, Mackenzie Young, who would have thought?" She smiled, and I returned it with a small one.

"It's not official Madam, but it does seem that it is," I replied honestly, and she nodded, pleased with my answer.

"Even so, I'm glad that he found his early." She responded and I thought back to Jacob's story, glancing between the couple. "Let's leave the men to do their business talk, and we can take this time to get used to each other." She took my hand, leading me out the back door to the patio by the waterfall, which wasn't as loud as I was expecting.

Watching the waterfall for a couple of minutes, I relaxed a bit, as she wasn't dominating rather she was just chill, enjoying the fresh air.
