Being surrounded by dire wolves , Ren instinctively activated his combat qi , but instead of using it internally , he had it envelope his body , normally he wouldn't do this because the blue qi enveloping him makes him look like a walking light show , and it was also very draining , but right now he felt he needed to or he would not survive this fight.
Enveloping his body may be tiring , but it came with its own advantages , such as an extra layer of protection , combat qi is very corrosive to flesh that doesn't belong to Ren as such getting too close to him would do more harm than good .
After tapping into his combat qi , he unsheathed his blade and the blue combat qi enveloped his sword , and he took a defensive stance . He was waiting for the wolves to attack first .
Within a few seconds the dire wolves started their attack , the dire wolf behind Ren jumped up and bit towards him , it thought that it was in one of Rens blindspots , but what it didn't know was that with Rens enhanced perception coupled with his high danger awareness , Ren had no blind spot .
as soon as the wolf was inches away from Ren and was sure they had won the fight , Ren used his insane speed and dodged the wolf's strike while turning around and making a counterattack . The counter attack landed on the dire wolves neck and disconnected it's head from the rest of it's body . This all happened in a split second .
the other wolves howled loudly at the sight of one of them being beheaded , and they also couldn't believe that Ren was that strong .
Dire wolves physiques were really strong , their claws could make scratches on stones and their jaws were even more powerful, their bodies have strong muscles making it hard to pierce , coupled with their insane speed , they were predators that normal humans could never imagine of hunting , but here was a kid somehow glowing in a mysterious blue light . with speed faster than theirs , insane perception and sword play that made him strong enough to kill one of them in mere seconds .
just by this display of strength , they knew they were not this humans opponent , so the howl they made was to alert all surrounding dire wolves that a strong enemy had showed up and reinforcements were needed .
upon hearing the howl all surrounding dire wolves howled back in reply and made their way towards the battle .
Meanwhile Ren was actually starting to get nervous , hearing the wolves howls and how more and more dire wolves were slowly piling up on him , originally there were only seven wolves surrounding him but now there were over twenty around him and there numbers were slowly increasing , " crap , I'm screwed , dammit , why is my luck so bad , I can't fight all of them nor can I escape , I am actually done " thought Ren . frowning at the idea of fighting all these wolves .
After some time of getting together , there were now around forty dire wolves and in front of Ren was a dire wolves standing at 2 metres tall , while on all fours . Ren knew just by that , that this big wolf had to be the leader of the wolves .
The big wolf howled and some of the wolves surrounding Ren , suddenly started running towards him , they started throwing their claws at him , but Ren was not someone that could be dealt with so easily , when the dire wolves got close enough to make contact with the mysterious blue aura enveloping Ren , they instantly felt that they were going to die , when they made contact with the blue aura , they felt their paws melting and they also sensed a terrifying pressure over them , and before any of them could react , they felt everything around them going dark until there was nothing left .
In less than five breaths of time all the dire wolves that were running towards Ren were all chopped down , the leader of the dire wolves could not help getting a little nervous , " where did such a strong human come from , I doubt even I could kill them all that fast , if this goes on were going to lose " thought the leader of the wolves but before he could give anymore orders , Ren was already pouncing towards him , the wolf leader instinctively jumped back to dodge ,but this was a desperate move , because by the time Rens feet touched the ground , the wolf leader was still in the air and as such could not dodge any incoming attack , and after realizing his blunder , the wolf leader immediately hardened his muscle , thinking that if he could survive at least this one attack , he would retreat and ask the wolf king for assistance , but that was all just wishful thinking , Ren was pouring in all his qi on the tip of his sword and his two arms to land one killing blow , in the next instant he stabbed his sword towards the wolf leaders heart , when the sword made contact with its skin , the blade did not stop , instead it kept going through like a hot knife cutting through butter it kept going from skin to muscles to the bones and finally it pierced the heart and came out of the back of the leaders body , instantly killing it .
All the remaining dire wolves were dumbfounded , seeing their leader , the strongest dire wolf , the one none of them could hope to beat , dying in front of their eyes just like that . All of their morale and fighting spirit instantly vanished , as they stared at Ren with fear .
Ren who had just killed the wolf leader was now preparing to fight his way through the wolves looked at the remaining dire wolves , while assuming a defensive stance when suddenly some thing unexpected happened , all the wolves were kneeling towards him , he didn't get what was going on , through Levi's memories he knew the best way to win a war was to kill the enemies leader , instantly breaking all of the enemies morale and confidence , but he wasn't expecting it to actually work , he just attacked the leader because it was the strongest so it dying would make things easier for him , but what they were doing now was completely unexpected , he thought that they might run or try to avenge their leader , but here they were kneeling to him , " are they asking for mercy " thought Ren .
Ren started slowly moving forward to one of the front most wolves , as soon as he got in front of one , he put his hand on its head and enveloped it combat qi , he wasn't planning on melting it , he was trying to use it to communicate with it , there was something extra special about combat qi , by enveloping something , whatever the other party says would be translated to the other parties language , but this required really good control other wise the other party would be turned to soup , but Ren had really good control , so he could do this , this was also a test to see if he could communicate with animals , if he could , he might be able to avoid alot of unnecessary trouble .
After wrapping the wolf in combat qi , he asked the wolf something , " what are you doing ?" , the wolves eyes almost popped out of it's sockets , hearing a human speaking the wolves tongue , but he immediately answered back , " we are swearing allegiance to you , my liege " answered the wolf , Ren was equally surprised , being able to talk to animals was an insane skill that would definitely come in handy on his journey , but he was also thinking about the wolves answer , them wanting to follow him sounded weird to Ren , " why , I just killed your leader , shouldn't I be your life long enemy or something " asked Ren." That is precisely why we want to follow you , we follow the strong , no matter what race , and you beat our leader in battle , that proves your stronger than him and by doing so you also took his title " answered the wolf .
" I see " responded Ren . Having a pack of wolves at his disposal would undoubtedly be very helpful , but with it there were many disadvantages , such as feeding them , and there was also no guarantee they wouldn't betray him , as well as that where would he keep them. " how can I be sure you won't betray me ?" asked Ren with a slightly suspicious tone .
" By signing a soul pact " answered the wolf hesitatingly , " what's that ?" asked Ren , " it is a special contract that binds our souls together , which makes it so that when you die , we also die " answered the wolf , " such a thing exists "thought ren to himself , " then what happens when you die " asked Ren .
" Then I'll die " replied the wolf , "then what about me " asked Ren , " nothing , since this pact will make it so you have ownership of us , if we die nothing will happen to you , additionally if we don't obey you , you can simply crush our soul " answered the wolf .
