Mary Scott didn't sleep at all after returning from the Imperial Cuisine Pavilion.
She thought long and hard and decided to give David Locke one last chance. If he came back that night to listen to her explanation, she would give their relationship a shot. But if he stayed out all night, she wouldn't need to struggle anymore.
But the villa door remained silent until the sky turned fish-belly white and the sun gradually emerged from the clouds, turning the whole eastern sky pale yellow.
Mary's last glimmer of hope shattered. She struggled to get up from the floor but fell back because her legs were numb. Her slender legs hit the black marble coffee table, and the pain made her face even paler.
She forced herself to hold up her body, stiffly and slowly went upstairs, opened her room, and began to pack her things.
But... there seemed to be nothing to pack.
