All these people came to express their gratitude for their generous contributions and for helping with practical matters in the village.
That road in the village was in such a poor condition. Every summer, they suffered a lot. Sometimes, if they hurried a bit, they'd easily slip and fall, returning home covered in mud and water.
"Folks, saying things like that is too formal. We've lived in this village for so many years; it's only right to do something for the village," Jiang Changhai said with a smile to the crowd.
"Exactly, now that we've gained some modest success, it's only right to give back to the village. You're too polite," Jiang Changfeng added.
Upon hearing what the two said, the villagers laughed heartily.
Even though they spoke like that, the villagers knew that not everyone who is successful remembers their roots.
