Chapter 9 - Chess Players I

Trevon's pov

The plan to de-gay Eli was probably the most ambitious thing I had ever come up with. Growing up as a third brother and son, there was a reason why I wasn't very ambitious like Bryant and Serial nor as laid back as Blaze.

Somehow, I never felt the need to be more or less. Just regular. The third option and not the last either. Blaze and I grew up with the same upbringing, more of the fun, less of the pressure like Serial and Bryant.

I never felt alone either because being third was a sweet spot where I could always find either a younger or older brother when I turned. Weirdly, I was closest to Serial. We bonded over a mutual love for blondes during our teenage years and just being somewhat in the middle. There was a different expectation and date I say trauma with not being the first nor the last.

All that changed when I met him. He was the change I needed. He gave me the willpower to want more. To be ambitious, to discover and rediscover myself.

He's the reason I know I like men. And women, to some extent.

Eli. My Eli.

As I watch him make his way into the banquet, I can't help but lick my lips. He looked so deliciously tempting in that red shirt. And perhaps what turned me on the most was that look of total wonder.

Knowing him, he was probably adding up the entire room's worth.

He was so predictable.

And I couldn't wait to tease him. His scent, reactions and voice drove me insane. But at the same time, I could never have enough.

Elena was right beside me glued to me like a parasitic snake. Between me and Serial, I could feel the mixed signals. Either she was hitting on me or Serial. It wasn't clear but what was weird was the fact that she probably thought I didn't know she was dating Eli.

The thought made me so jealous and annoyed. I briefly remembered why I was here in the first place when I usually avoided these charades.

Yes, I was only here because of him. After finding out through our texts that he was coming, I had to pull some strings to get me a chance to set my plan into motion.

I smiled down at Elena, she was talking about some boring new Louboutin heels. All I wanted to do was strangling her, I hated her lies to the core. She had told him she was asexual, was denying him sexual pleasure and keeping him on a leash. And even though I hated her for it, I hated the idea of Eli sleeping with anyone other than me. Especially an unfaithful person like Elena. If I hadn't caught her making out and having sex outside that restaurant parking lot a few months ago, I would hate her less.

And then tge fact that it was Cher Mer of all place where paparazzi were littered around like spies. It just seems she could care less about getting caught.

I turned to look at Serial who looked like he could drop dead any moment from this whole interaction.

Exaggerating a little bit, I cleared my throat,

"Oh look who just walked in. Elisha Jeb! Let me introduce everyone to one of the few people from high school", I said to the small group.

Serial gave me a knowing look. And I hid a snarky smile.

We walked the short distance and when we reached Elisha, I steeped beside him with a huge boyish smile.

"Hey everyone, meet Elisha, my best best friend from high school"

He turned to look at me with a confused look. So adorable, I thought.

Serial extended a hand

"Hi Eli, I'm Serial. It's nice to finally meet you. I remember having sleepless nights because Tray here was whipped for you!"

Oh here we go, Serial was such an idiot. Just casually ruining my plan.

"Nice to meet you, Serial. Trevon and I were not that close"

Serial smiled with a quirk of his eyebrow and a nod

"Ah I see. You can call me Siri. I'm sure we'll be getting to know each other better soon", he said again.

And just like that I wish I could strangle him too.

A smile formed on my lips instead.

"That's just Siri, don't pay him a lot of attention"

Just like that Elena let out a fake smile, inserting herself between me and Eli.

"Oh I did not know you two knew each other!"

Oh well, now you know I thought.

Her voice blurred out in my eyes when she started talking about Eli's suit, my attention panning over to Serial. He was looking over at the entrance. Body tense and a smirk visible on his lower lip.

My eyes trailed his gaze and then I saw her. A blonde woman in a black silk dress.

Looks like some is getting claimed!. I smiled at the thought. He was out of it, almost as if the world had stopped when she walked in. If I didn't know Siri, I would have thought he was falling in love.

I looked back at Eli, he was shyly looking at Elena with a sickens sweet smile. It made me want to grab him, throw him over my shoulder and do unthinkable things to him in a bathroom.

When I looked back to where Serial was a minute ago, he was gone. Like a chess player, knowing when to make a move was very important. And now was the perfect time to beat Elena at her own game of manipulation.

"Hey Elena, I think your lipstick's smudged. You should probably fix it before the auction begins", I said to her, looking her sweetly in the eye.

She looked up at me with a smile

"I'll be right back Tray and Eli".

Elena thought she was too perfect, there was no way she was going to walk around with anything but perfect makeup, the thought made me smile, considering I'd just made that up.

Then I turned to Eli who was looking at me like an executioner. Wasting no writes, I grabbed his arm and admit the protest, I dragged him towards the boy's bathroom.
