Chapter 18 - Ch 18

Noah was on his way to an F ranked portal to open up market. He was curious about the effects of the level up coin.

'So, what do they pay in, levels or stats? I mean it is a level cap and the stat cap paid in stats, so that means the most logical conclusion is that it probably cost levels to increase.'

...

Now in his shop Noah began to inspect the level cap coins

Level Cap Coins

Raises level cap by 10

Price:10 stats

(Consumers can only buy one for every ten dungeon related to the level it is for)

[Consumers can only buy levels up to one above the current rank of Market (rank F) (since this is the current rank then the level cap is 50(E))]

[Reminder Coins are obtained by leveling up, with 10 stat cap coins and level cap coins gained per level.]

"Guess I was wrong," Noah then winced, "Ahh, that means I have to either manually level up or get more beast weapons to sell, if I want to hit level 50."

"Wait, 10 stat coins give 1 stat and 10 level cap coins that gives 5. Then I gain potentially, 60 stats per level!"

Noah couldn't even fathom what rank he would be considered with these coins. The highest he knows is that A ranks gain 15 stats per level.

"I think I can consider my stat rank to be beyond SSS rank. Even dividing my stats per level by five, all my stats would be close to the stat cap of an A rank hunter's main stat at their level cap."

Noah let out a deep breath before resolving to only call it a day when he has reach at least 50 in all stats.

5 hours later,

Only a group of 7 hunters managed to enter the portal. With only 5 of them having an ability that is F rank or lower, Noah was only able to gain 5 stats in Int and Agi. He did gain 3 new abilities, lightning, shadow, and mana regen. The hunter with mana regeneration was overjoyed, as his ability held him back from doing E rank portals. So, in total he only sold 28 stat coins and 7 level up coins because the limitation on purchases per person.

Noah sighed, "Definitely theoretical, I can only be connected to one portal at a time. So, the amount of people I can get is about 5-10 every 3-5 hours. If I publicize everything, then I could easily have hundreds of hunters in here every day. We aren't even in a crisis like how it was when portals first appeared. I would most likely be seen as a commodity to be monopolized. Even getting stronger won't help as the big guild would definitely find some way to bind me."

Noah began to think about his niece and sister. He then took a looked at his stats.

"Maybe it not so bad," Noah said smirking at his stats. "Since I plan to first bring all my stats to the stat cap of a rank before having any other stats go beyond it, I'll evaluate myself differently. Since all my stats are the max stats of a F rank hunter, I'll say that my stats are F+." He then took a glance at his main ability.

Market upgrade condition (E) (0/4)

300 stat coins sold (77/300)

100 level up coins sold (7/100)

50 ability up tickets sold (22/50)

lvl 50 (10/50)

30 E rank or higher portal completion points (1/30)

"It changed from requirements to condition. Why did it change? I guess it doesn't truly matter, as this will allow me to upgrade Market a lot sooner."

Noah sat around for another 3 hours before a group of 5 hunters appeared. Noah greeted them before giving a brief glance at what looks to be the hunters' scout. He was a gruff man wearing a black tight-fitting outfit. Noah could vaguely sense it; this man is at least E+ rank.

He looked around surprised, before immediately searching around. Soon he found the ability rank up ticket and immediately snatched it up.

"These are the current abilities that can be switched up. You can also choose to keep your current abilities," Noah explained to the man, showing a tablet with a list of abilities on it.

The man quickly glanced through the abilities, temporarily pausing at telekinesis and shadow, but eventually decided to keep his own ability Agi up.

+5 Agi

Eventually all the hunters finished shopping, and Noah managed to sell 4 more ability tickets, 3 stat cap coins, 3 pieces of gear, and 5 level cap coins as the gruff man decided to buy one too.

Noah managed to get the ability heal and slow along with gaining +5 to Con and Str.

'Guess I underestimated how useful level cap coins are. With my extra stats, I am able to have my Wisdom be E+ rank.'

The hunters then left through the portal.

'Guess I should call it a day, I met my goal and actually exceeded them, so I can spend the time before the E rank portal in 2 weeks taking a break.'

...

Ajal walked out of the portal with a smirk. He found it, the power they moved to this city for. Soon the party leader, a tank, walked out the portal.

"Alright now that we have rested and improved, lets defeat the king beast and be done with this."

There was no difficulty as all except the beast near the king beast has been taken care of. With the improvement to the party, and the fact that all of them are experienced, the king beast fell pretty easily. Instead of fading away, the green light of what use to be the carcass of the dead beast concentrated together.

After the light faded, a spear with a blue handle and black blade laid where the lights once were.

"Alright, as agreed on prior, seeing as this most likely isn't for me, support, or the healer, we will withdraw from trying to obtain this."

That left Ajal, and the two attackers. Ajal walked up to the spear and broke a milky white orb the size of a tangerine.

"It is a spear that adds a frost aspect to its attack." Ajal looked at his team surprised reaction. He then proceeded to swing the spear to test it.

"I think this will justify it." He then appeared in front of the healer before the others could react and aim the spear straight at the healer's heart. Blood immediately flowed out before freezing.

"An increase in my ability by just one rank is really something. Sorry, but you have stolen what will soon become the Jilks Guild's property. I did have orders to stay low key, but this spear should be good enough of a compensation to appease my higher ups. So, if anything, blame your own selves for being unlucky." Ajal then quickly cut the support's head off.

"Actually, I guess it would be blaming yourselves for getting too lucky with dropping such a good item."

The tank cursed himself for being too slow to at least stop Ajal from killing the support.

"GATHER TOGETHER!" The tank shouted, "Stand back-to-back so we can cover our blind spots. He shouldn't be able to hold on as long as us.

...

Ajal walked out the portal, and immediately pulled out his phone. "I need somebody to clean up for me." The person on the other side gave a sigh. "Why," used to this, he gave a short response. "Found the thing and got a pretty good item." After a brief moment, "Gather at the new headquarter."
