Chapter 9 - A tour

"Nini, do you have something to do today?" Jane was full of excitement as she asks.

"I want to invite Prince to take a tour in your village. Since we were going back after they fix the road," Nini said.

"Okay, I'll give you a tour. Oh~ Adam is already here. Why don't we invite him also?" Jane was constrained as she says.

"Adam, you are here. Do you have news if they already fix the road?" Nini asks.

"Almost. There are still trees in the road since there are limited people helping," Adam said.

"Brother, let's give Prince and also Nini a tour in our village. Prince mentioned that he wants to take a tour since they will leave as soon as the road is fixed," Jane was a little bit upset when she said.

"Let's go and ask Nini," Adam said.

On the other side, Nini is helping Mrs. Liu, and they seem to be close on the past few days. They share some experience and insight about designing. Nini found a soft side of Mrs. Liu's heart. Other people in the village used to misunderstand Mrs. Liu. There is also a rumor that she is having an affair with a person in the city. Actually, Mr. Liu knows that Mrs. Liu hasn't had an affair with another man. They have trust and mutual understanding in something that other people can't understand. Since Nini already knows that truth, she always stands on Mrs. Liu's side in such circumstances. The other day, Nini also accompanied Mrs. Liu as she takes a walk in the village to avoid Mrs. Liu from hearing other people gossiping about her. Actually, Mrs. Liu is aware of that, and she appreciates Nini's gesture. Then Mrs. Liu brought Nini to their neighbors who are a group of weavers who have exceptional skills in traditional pattern weaving.

Nini has known that Jane is the one who is spreading rumors in the village, and she told it to Mr. Liu, but Mr. Liu said that they don't have to be affected by that rumor, and he will talk to Jane to stop spreading fictitious things.

That day before the Lantern festival, Jane and Adam invite Nini and Prince to hang out. This time they want to give Nini and Prince a tour of their small village, as Prince requested. They brought Nini and Prince first to the farm. All of the villagers were busy preparing for the Lantern festival tomorrow, so they were the only people there.

"We know that you've been here at the farm and helped us exactly the day after the storm left, but we want to show you our secret place," Adam said.

"What secret place?" Nini said.

Adam and Jane brought them to their secret place and told them some silly stories. They told them that they usually went there when they quarrel with their parents. That secret place is where they usually ride horses.

Next, Adam and Jane brought them to the poultry and also where their horses and donkeys live. In that farm, there are pigs, sheep, goats, and so on. On their next stop, they went to the Chen family and had their lunch. They ate some specialties of the village. Mrs. Chen is the Auntie of Adam and Jane. They are actually living next to each other. Since it is a small village, the houses are almost next to each other. Chen's family's house is the opposite of Mr. Liu's house.

On their next stop, they went to the house next to Mr. Liu. Prince wondered why it was the biggest house in the village and also had the largest backyard of them all. Nini didn't mention to the three that she's already been there with Mrs. Liu, then as the old weavers call her name, the three were surprised that they already knew Nini and told her that they can't teach her. The three were confused about what Nini and that old woman were talking about. While the truth is, Nini asked the old women to teach her some of the traditional weaving techniques in different patterns when they visited them the other day with Mrs. Liu, but the old women refused. Nini explained that she is not there to ask them to teach her and respects that it is part of their tradition that they can only teach it to the chosen ones in their village. Instead, they are there because they just want to have a look, and it is part of their tour. The old woman was relieved as Nini said that she respected their tradition, so she allowed them to take a look and told them something about this traditional weaving. That house is owned by a group of young maiden and old maiden who are weavers and do different types of traditional weave patterns in their village. This traditional weave pattern is passed through so many generations. Prince also found out that the young maiden is the new generation that has been chosen to be the future weavers of the village, and they are also not allowed to be married and have a child. Nini was so amazed by this tradition of their village. Also, she was amazed at the skills of these weavers. The weavers told them that after finishing this pattern, they will bring it to the downtown and trade it.

On their next and last stop, they went to the seaside where the fishermen meet and share the fish that they catch. The four of them borrowed one of the boats of a fisherman, and they tried to catch a fish. After catching the fish, they had their dinner together with the other fishermen.

"It's been a long day," Nini said.

"Let's go home," Prince said.

"Let's go," Adam and Jane said.

Then the four of them went home.
