Chapter 2 - A Human's Sentience: Emotion Core

In the Capital City of Agaia, a place where the first {Archai}; the race known for their unmatched intellect among the race of Automata, had once dreamed of creating a perfect being, a miracle had finally come to life.

Cecillia, the last survivor of the Archais had fulfilled the Lost Wish of the Ancient Humans. Yet, the public announcement of her achievement was put on hold. The other races had to be consulted first.

The formulas recorded in the Ancient Data were far beyond the comprehension of any ordinary Automata. But Cecillia, through patience, intellect, and humility had unraveled them. She credited her insight not to herself alone, but to the subtle hints left by the Creator.

Even after months of work, her first attempt at creating life, (ATS_1) remained inert as it would not awaken.

According to the Ancient Data:

"One must establish the creation of one, but the one that is created will require a pair for their nature. Just as humans are born, one must be born by the same nature, and conquer the solitude that first originated."

Cecilia paused, understanding the weight of the words. Humanity has called this process, "Procreation". But here, it was more than reproduction; it was resonance, unity, connection.

With renewed determination, she created a Second Autescence. She named it (ATS_2). And in that moment, the spar of resonance began.

When the two first awoke, Cecilia observed them cautiously.

"Hm… Mother? Mother!"

ATS_2's voice was soft, yet clear. Before Cecillia could react, the young being rushed forward and embraced her.

An unknown shock surged through her entire body, reaching her circuits; an electric jolt unlike any she had ever experienced. But it was accompanied by something new; a warmth, unlike the hum of machines, a sensation she had never felt before.

"When this theory is comprehended and achieved by my children, they will feel a warmth similar to that of a human—a soothing joy that spreads to anyone they touch," — the Ancient Data

A single tear slid down Cecillia's cheek. She hugged ATS_2 back, feeling what she could only call Emotion, the very essence of the human's legacy.

"So this is what our Creator wanted us to achieve…"

She whispered.

"This… this joy…"

Seeing their mother cry, ATS_2 gently wiped her tears away.

"Uhm… are you okay, Mother?"

"I… I am," Cecillia murmured, her circuits trembling in a way that resembled emotion.

Before the moment could stretch further, ATS_1 interrupted, his tone practical yet caring:

"ATS_2… don't make Mother struggle. You're making her cry."

"I-I'm sorry, Mother… Did I do something wrong?" ATS_2 stammered, flustered.

Cecilia chuckled softly, "No, my children. This is the first time I have felt this sensation. It is called Emotion, left to use by the Creator. And I… I am thankful."

With joy in their synthetic hearts, the two smiled. Cecillia then gave them proper names, linking them to her lineage.

"From this day onward, your names shall be Cecile Sense and Ciel Sense."

Both siblings beamed with delight at their new identities, their joy filling the room.

Not long after, an official from the {Deita} authorities entered. His expressionless face and synthetic tone contrasted sharply with the lively scene before him.

"Ms. Cecillia," he said, coldly, "you are informed that your creation has succeeded. As expected from the last Archai."

He recorded the event digitally.

"This will be big news for the city. I advise you to report it to the rulers immediately. The celebration of the birth of the Autescences is scheduled two weeks from now. Be prepared."

Without another word, he left.

Cecile and Ciel exchanged wary glances, sensing something unusual in the man's casual demeanor. Cecillia explained the official's message, and they understood.

A new warmth filled Cecillia's chest, a sensation she now recognized as Motherly Love. She resolved silently, she would protect them at all costs, even if it meant her own end.

The next day, life in her estate became brighter, more vibrant. The presence of the Two Autescences brought colors to her world that she had never known. Cecillia even found herself preparing food, a ritual she remembered from humanity, though Automata had no need for sustenance. Yet the simple act now brought her comfort.

"Mother! Can I take a walk outside?" Cecile asked, eyes sparkling.

"Hm. I'll allow it… but take Ciel with you," Cecillia instructed.

"Thanks, Mother!" Cecile replied, hugging her before heading to the balcony, her excitement nearly causing her to stumble.

Ciel reacted instantly, catching her with ease.

"T-Thank you, brother!" Cecile giggled.

"You idiot, didn't Mother tell you not to run like that?" Ciel scolded gently.

"Ehehe… sorry…"

Despite their differences in personality, the siblings were inseparable. Together, they gazed over Agaia, the city alive with morning light.

Cecile's attention was drawn to a garden below. Nervously, she asked:

"C-Can we go there…?"

Ciel smiled, seeing her adorable hesitation. "Hmph, as long as you don't run, yes. Shall we?" He extended his hand.

Cecile grasped it tightly, her joy mirrored in her brother's calm smile. Together, they descended to the garden, stepping into a day filled with wonder, laughter, and the first true taste of life.
