Chapter 19 - An Unforseen Neighbor

Kupa had returned home before the day's end,to find that it was beautifully furnished,Grayson playing with his phone on a wooden couch. Not exactly the most comfortable, but for now it would do in terms of relaxing.

"Wow! look at you being a furnishing pro!" Kupa said warmly as she looked about, almost in wonder. "I got bored, really it's mundane at best. This couch is also far from comfortable in the long run." Grayson said with a slight chuckle.

A knock emits from the front door,a firm one. Grayson shoots to his feet, grabbing his sword. Almost with an unrelenting authority he storms toward the door and opens it-

In front of him was a hooded person, their face angled out of view. "Are you Grayson the Last?" They asked quietly. "What's it to you,Traveller?" Grayson asked in return, ensuring the blade was in view.

"Survival. Let me in." The stranger said as they looked to him, face to face, eye to eye.

It was a male. Much,MUCH older than himself. Grayson stumbled backwards as if he were pushed-

Kupa approached...

"Who are you?" Grayson asked..

"Harvard. Garrison Harvard. As for you, your reputation precedes you. Not even here 5 weeks and already an enemy to the public,by a man's standards thats pretty damn lucky. Now put away the sword so we can talk."

Without so much as an argument the sword was sheathed-

"Gladya's strength weakens. It's only a matter of time before her uncorrupt army defects in trade for protecting you. 20 years of bloodshed have lead to Gladya at her outright weakest. Why the hesitation and retreat?"

"You know very well why,I cannot fight something so powerful they can fathom my very being at this precise moment in the known world. Dare I ask the same thing?" Grayson asked.

"Look,a very long time ago I asked that very question, and answered yes. I overestimated..and trusted an enemy in the process to find her untrustworthy of even her own powers, and ended up giving her more power than she really had. You must strike soon. Or she will be impregnable."

"How do you even know all of this?" Grayson questioned..

"Foresight,my good lad. Now you must heed my warning, and assume I never existed. If you do need me,find me deeper in the North." He said, settling a box on the floor, and returning to the forest, quietly closing the door.

Kupa approached the box first, warily lifting it's lid to inspect it's contents. There were a few large shards of diamonds,a few handles,a note, and an indecipherable enchantment..

"Seems like it's our lucky day. We have the materials for a diamond sword." Kupa said with a smile, picking the box up and presenting it to Grayson. "Yeesh...These shards are big enough as is to be used as blades.." He said as he takes the box, settling it on the kitchen table.

Grayson picked up a diamond, and one of the handles, taking it over to a crafting table behind him. "Time to do this Tears of the Kingdom style.." Grayson mutters. He settled the items down and opened one of it's drawers to reveal a vial of slime.

He takes it out, applying a general amount to the handle, and attaching it to the diamond directly. The slime seemed to have immediately set, turning the individual crafting components into one body. After a few test swings he looks the blade up and down. "Not exactly what I'd call a reliable blade, but it's alright." He mutters.

"So,I have news about Alex, whenever you're able." Kupa said,a grim atmosphere lacing her voice. "Oh? What's going on?" Grayson asked as he settles the new blade in the box for now.

"Alex is thankfully alive, but imprisoned. We are on our own until she finds a way out. On the upside she gave me an enchantment that will further conceal our location, thankfully." Kupa said as she prepared a piece of paper, drawing out the enchantment that Alex had scribed to her.

"We will remain hidden here. Though we cannot venture terribly far either due to the limited capacity of the enchantment. Beyond steering clear of the Scars we should be okay to rest." Kupa assures,as she hands Grayson the paper. "If it's so easy to draw it why don't we just plaster them wherever we go?" Grayson asked as he framed the enchantment, hanging it up to allow the enchantment to do it's work.

"As far as I know it's like having a bed, here. You can only have one at a time with the same person." Kupa said, lowering her head slightly.

"Is there anything else that's required of my knowledge?" Grayson asked.

"Yeah,actually." Kupa said,retrieving the note that Harvard had given them,passing it to Grayson;

'Dear Grayson The Last,

It is of the utmost importance that you know this. I am aware that you are not of this plain, and possibly wish to return home. Deep into the territories of Gladya's influence is a computer clad in gold, protected by a hellish End Titan,Gloria.

The computer is a portal that leads back to your material plain, however if you leave there may be no chance of you returning. In the box that I have left you,are the only materials capable of vanquishing Gladya's growing army. Use them wisely, for they are your only defence.

Until next time,Knight of the Balance. The fate of your brothers and the world rest on your shoulders.

"Quite the promotion I just got." Grayson chuckles at that last bit of the letter. "Oh? What did you get?" Kupa asked as she peers over his shoulder.

"I am apparently a Knight of the Balance now." Grayson said with a soft chuckle.

"Im soo proud of youuu." Kupa said as she gave him a crushing strong hug-

"K-kupa- Need to breathe-" Grayson said as the air was squeezed out of him. Before too much longer Kupa released the male with a soft chuckle. "You know, something did come up too." Kupa said as she rummaged in her pocket, pulling out what looked like a green sunflower seed.

"They're my Polyps from our..Work." Kupa said as she presented the seeds. Grayson hums softly as he analyzed the seeds,"Are they male?" Grayson questioned curiously.

"I'm not certain, especially since Creepers are ambiguous with their gender." Kupa begins,"Especially with us being plants, the parental genes just determine their look, their acting gender is determined by their growth and preference. We'd have to plant them and find out." She explains.

"Oh boy...Nothing like a mystery." Grayson chuckled sarcastically,as he prepared a wooden flowerpot with soft soil, and handing it off to Kupa to be planted.

Once planted, the seed was settled in a windowsill to grow
