The next day dawned after we had slept deeply following the grand feast. It truly was the greatest meal I had ever prepared and savored, and that divine sake from Zipangu hit me hard—I slept like a log. The rocky floor of Helheim was far from comfortable, though, but my tough body barely noticed.
When I finally stirred awake, I found myself surrounded by my family. The children were already wide awake, playfully chasing small bone beasts that had curiously wandered close. A few zombie creatures munched on leftovers, and some lingering souls continued purifying themselves through the bliss of the food I had made.
And Hel? She remained sound asleep, clinging tightly to my entire body without letting go. For someone so ancient, she was surprisingly affectionate, and it only made her more endearing.
Oh man...
It had been such a long journey, but this felt like the end, didn't it?
