The whole time Maria told her story, she watched the strange man lean curiously in, as if attracted by her words, his face a mystery. She did no know him, though she did want to. He had a sort of appeal to him. After Fa Haoran had broken her heart, fed her with lies and tortured her to no extent, her hear would already have been elsewhere.
But the problem was, she was dead. And she still hadn't come to terms with that.
But then and there, as he asked about her story, she was reminded with every word that left her mouth that she was truly, truly dead. A nobody. She would be the first in the House to get forgotten whilst the others will live on their lives under the cast of her shadow. She felt she had already been erased from everyone's minds, actually, for none of them noticed her and none of the seemed to miss her. But here he was, this man who had suddenly arrived like a knight in shining armor, the one who could apparently see her, the one who was willing to talk to her.
