"Is it okay for me to serve your food, Elaine?" Samuel asked once again. Since he reminded her of an old friend he wanted to be nicer so it would feel like that friend was here tonight through him.
"Thank you," Elaine replied, accepting Samuels offer. It wouldn't hurt to have the man serve her.
Samuel critically looked over all the dishes trying to pick the ones which might be up to her taste. He did not want to disappoint her and give Elaine anything she did not like when she was already against eating too much. Instead of picking what she might dislike, he decided to ask what she liked. "What kind of dish do you like? The steaks, the chicken, the lamb, etc."
Elaine examined the table filled with dishes she wouldn't normally eat because of how they were cooked. There was no way she could simply choose a dish she liked. "Please give me the ones you think are tasty and would pick for yourself," she replied, giving Samuel full control of what he wanted to serve.
