Ray was happy with his new name. It was short and fit him quite well.
"Congratulations on your new name, Ray," Alex said, and then turned toward the rest. "Do you have anything else to ask him? Because we have to start making our next plans."
"I have a few," Scarlet quickly said and turned toward Ray.
"Is it true that our species is descended from yours?" she asked.
"Your species? You are a Vermilion Bird, right?" Ray asked before looking at her carefully. "Hmm… I can't tell. Maybe you are, considering I did have many children in my lifetime, so my bloodline is out there."
"Oh," Scarlet was a little disappointed. She was hoping for a more concrete answer.
Ray smiled. "I don't see why you are so disappointed. While I may or may not have been your ancestor, none of it was what made you what you are. It's her," he said, pointing to Shumi.
"She? You mean the Moon Goddess?" Scarlet asked.
