Chapter 6 - Savior

But in the book, the male lead's beauty was unmatched.

If even a random side character looks this good, just how stunning is the male lead from her book?

The moment this supporting character appeared, he instantly outshone all the male concubines in her residence.

As she was thinking this, the man grabbed her sleeve.

His hand, with prominent joints, was painfully thin.

His eyelids drooped, long black lashes trembling

"Where are you going?"

The way he spoke was weak, pallid—just a glance would make anyone ache for him.

Su Ye stared at him for a moment.

Silently, she used both hands to steady him.

For the first time, she met someone who seemed like they would break from a mere breeze.

Truly fragile.

She reached out, pressing her fingers against his wrist.

She was silent for a while, looking at him.

This pulse... death is not far off.

So weak she could barely sense it.

Su Ye pondered for a moment, then suddenly took out a white porcelain vial from her pocket.

She poured out a Medicine Pill and brought it to the sickly beauty's lips.

Seeing the pill suddenly appear by his mouth, his lashes quivered; he said nothing.

Su Ye spoke up

"This medicine can temporarily ease your symptoms."

Back then, after Su Ye's home was raided by that deranged bastard, she only took two things.

First was the Spirit Stone in her Dantian; the other was her family's secret medicine recipe.

The medicine made from that recipe was exactly the pill in her hand now.

This Medicine Pill can suppress and ease any poison's symptoms.

This sickly beauty was deeply poisoned, a hard case to cure.

His long, narrow eyes glanced at her face

"Medicine-Refining Doctor?"

Su Ye considered for a moment

"Something like that."

The Su Family was a medicine-refining household, establishing themselves in Xuan Yue City.

As for herself, she wasn't a career writer, but someone who studied ancient Chinese medicine.

So on second thought, she supposed she was a doctor.

Finally, after she admitted it, the man's pale lips parted lightly; he bit the pill and swallowed it down.

Soon after taking the pill, he really stopped coughing.

The man stared at Su Ye's face for a long moment, his throat bobbing, before slowly saying,

"My benefactor has saved me twice—how should I ever repay such kindness?"

His voice was soft, with a certain allure.

Her literal drop from the sky counts as one, the Medicine Pill as another.

Su Ye gazed at his face, momentarily dazed.

Coming back to herself, Su Ye shook her head

"No need; it was nothing."

Saying that, she withdrew her hand that was supporting him.

The man's gaze swept over Su Ye once more, his lashes trembling

"Su Qing"

At first, Su Ye didn't react, confused

"Hm?"

He smiled faintly, gently repeating,

"Su Qing, my name."

Once those words fell, just like that, the smile on Su Ye's face froze.

Then she stared blankly at the man, suddenly reaching out to his inner collar.

Her rosy lips opened and closed

"Can I pull open your clothes?"

Su Qing was stunned for a moment, probably not understanding why she said that.

Yet, Su Ye didn't give him a chance to answer.

All that was heard was a ripping sound—his inner garment had already been torn open by her.

In the stillness of the forest, that sound was especially loud.

And then she saw, at his chest, a black vine spreading out from his heart, growing wildly, extending all the way to the back of his neck.

Because his hair had always been loose, it covered those black vines. That's why no one noticed.

Now that she pulled it open, it was strikingly clear.

Su Ye only glanced before quickly pulling his clothes back together.
