Bright streaks of weapon fire rose toward her from the ground, and before she could even begin to orient herself, something struck her Mecha's shoulder.
The impact slammed through the pod.
Naysha's whole body jerked violently to one side, her head snapping against the padded seat behind her, and for a moment, the shock of it drove every thought out of her mind. It felt real. It felt as though she had been struck by something enormous, the force of it rattling through her bones, and her hands tightened instinctively on the controls as she fought to stay upright.
In the observation gallery, Tobin let out a low whistle.
"Desert," he muttered, mostly to himself. "That's a bad draw."
