The first floor of the square mainly featured jewelry and luxury goods, with customers and shop assistants all asleep on the ground. The wolves had no interest in this readily available buffet but were more intrigued by Ash and Vishi, two exceptionally lively wild beasts.
However, Ash stopped in his tracks as the entrance of the square was narrow, allowing only three or four wolves to rush in at the same time. The reason why they fled indoors wasn't because they couldn't hold their ground, but because they wanted to avoid being attacked from all sides in the street—Ash had no intention of fighting back-to-back with Vishi.
