For a moment, Alex could only stare at the reporter.
Then she almost laughed.
The question was absurd, but it also made something painfully clear. Very few people knew that much about her past, about James, and especially about her aversion to being touched by men.
James.
She shook her head, bitterly amused by how easily someone she had called a friend could betray her.
"I think you're proving my point for me," Alex said, lifting the microphone again. "The only man I've ever allowed to touch me outside of work or photo shoots is Ethan."
The room went quiet.
"No other man has that permission. Not James. Not anyone else."
She looked directly at the reporter.
"You said James was around me for years, right? Then ask yourself this: if he was supposedly so special to me, why was he never allowed to get close to me the way Ethan does?"
The woman's smile faded slightly.
