The journey to the hotel took less than ten minutes, but it felt much longer to Alex. She kept looking through the windows, trying to see if one of the cars behind them had been following since they left the filming location.
Every person holding a phone made her suspicious. She knew she was probably overthinking everything, but after seeing photographs taken during almost every meeting with Eliott, she could no longer convince herself that the danger existed only inside her head.
Her assistant noticed how often she looked behind them.
"Is everything all right?"
"I'm just tired," Alex answered.
Another lie. She seemed to be collecting them today.
When they reached the hotel, Alex walked quickly through the lobby. She looked around for anyone watching her before entering the lift, then pressed the button for her floor. She only began to breathe normally again when she opened the door to her room and found everything as she had left it.
