Chapter 1 - Why! Why! Why!

Chapter one

WHY -

It's true—not all people are good. People can lie while telling the truth. Others can easily speak the truth, but it's still a lie. Hypothetically speaking, no matter what they say, truth is based on you—on what you choose to believe. And that's the reality. It doesn't matter whether it's a lie or the truth—it's the person you want to believe in that matters.

There's a saying: "When the truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie." Even a mere human can't easily define what's real and what's not. Humans are unpredictable. They constantly change. They make careless choices and end up hurting others—or themselves.

I often wonder: why do some stories end with "happily ever after" as if it's the end, when really, it's just the beginning of another story? Happily ever after is a myth. It exists only in fairy tales—when you're still a kid. In reality, not all of the billions of human stories end happily. Most don't end at all. They just continue—waiting, hoping that "happily ever after" will eventually come.

Of course, I belong to one of those stories—where happily ever after never existed in the first place. It's a curse disguised as a fairy tale, and it continues when people bring a child into that illusion.

"What happened to you, Fie?" Mr. Rodrigo asked his daughter.

"Look at those bruises! Where did you get them?" He walked toward her, concerned.

"It's nothing. I'm okay," Fierra replied, avoiding his gaze.

"You went to see your mother, didn't you?" he asked calmly.

"Yeah... she said she'd be home late," Fierra answered as she walked to the kitchen for a glass of water.

"I see... then tell me, why do you have bruises?" he asked again, more seriously. He stood in front of her and held her hands.

"I got into a fight... someone needed help," Fierra admitted.

"There was a girl being hit by some guy near the road I always pass. I stepped in. He accidentally punched me, so I knocked him out and tied him up. The police came after that." She looked down.

"That's my girl. But be careful. Don't catch punches you don't have to." Mr. Rodrigo smiled and patted her head.

Fierra smiled back and nodded.

"Wait here. I'll get something to clean your wounds." Mr. Rodrigo left to fetch the first aid kit.

But before he returned, Fierra had already left. She texted him:

"Apa, I'm going out. I'll clean my wounds myself and take a breather too. Don't worry—your daughter was trained by her old man. I'll be back! :))"

She rode off on her motorcycle. Mr. Rodrigo trusted her words, not knowing she was hiding the truth. The girl she saved was her mother. Fierra had caught her mother having an affair.

(Scene flashback)

Fierra had gone to pick up her mother from work when she saw her being hit by a man.

"How dare you leave me like that!" the man yelled.

"I can't do this anymore—" her mother sobbed, begging him to stop.

"So you're going to leave me? Like everyone else?" he shouted, gripping her shoulders tightly.

"Don't tell me you're choosing him again?!" he screamed.

"I'm sorry. I love my husband and my family…" Mrs. Rodrigo said, trying to escape his grip.

"After everything between us—was it nothing to you?" he asked, enraged.

"It was a mistake… Please, don't act like it was something real," she tried to explain.

"You used me!" the man yelled and raised his fist.

As he was about to punch her, someone stepped in—Fierra.

"You don't deserve any of this, Mother," she whispered with heartbreak in her eyes.

Furious, Fierra punched the man. Every hit was a release of pain.

"You piece of shit!" she yelled.

"Let me show you what I do to men like you," she stepped forward.

"You're not a man at all!" she screamed, landing more punches.

"How could you hit a woman?" She grabbed his collar and yanked him down, continuing to punch him.

"Don't ever show yourself again! If you do—I'll rip those eyes out!" she shouted.

Her mother tried to stop her, but couldn't. Police sirens echoed nearby. The man, panicked, stood up and stumbled away.

"I'm sorry... Severina," he muttered before disappearing.

Fierra grabbed her mother and rode away quickly. Silence filled the ride. Her mother tried to explain, but Fierra said nothing. They stopped near a convenience store.

"Fix yourself. Stop crying," Fierra said coldly. "I'll go home first. Pull yourself together. Every lie you told required commitment—so don't act like you didn't know this would happen."

She left her mother behind.

That night, Fierra planned to leave before her mother returned. She lied to her father, giving her mother space to confess. Thirty minutes after Fierra left, Mrs. Rodrigo came home.

As Fierra rode aimlessly through the night, thoughts consumed her. She couldn't believe how quickly everything had changed. Just moments ago, they were happy. Now, everything had shattered.

Her heart broke over and over. She cried hard while riding. Speeding recklessly, she didn't care anymore. Everything she cared about had collapsed.

"How could she do this to us?"

"Wasn't she happy?"

"If she was... then why?"

"Why! Why! Why! It's bullshit!"

She was wearing a brown varsity jacket, a plain white shirt, black jeans, and black boots. She stood 163 cm tall, with long black hair and reddish eyes. A graduate in Arts and Design. Born on December 16. She carried a quiet, melancholic aura—soft, but full of weight.
