After Cordelia had checked on Damon and ensured he was safe she held him in one arm and walked towards the pile of magic cores. She waved her hand and a bright white light covered the area lasting not even a second before vanishing taking all the magic cores with it. (Inventory) cordelia whispered as a screen only she could see appeared before her eyes she looked at it for a while then looked down at Damon staring into his bright purple eyes and gave a small smile. "These magic cores will be yours once your old enough they should serve you well" she then turned toward the now giant tree in the middle of the clearing and bowed before walking back towards the direction of town.
20 minutes later and Cordelia had made it to the edge of the dark forest just 200meters from Arthur and Sions house, she looked at the little hut for a few seconds and started walking towards it once she reached the door she sighed and kept walking untill she reached the door step of the town Mayor. Where she knocked and patiently waited for a couple minutes untill, The door opend to a young girl no older than 5 "Hello miss, im sorry granddad can't come to the door right now as he is too busy researching new crops" the young girl politely apologised, performing a slight bow to Cordelia who looked at her with a blank expression before just pushing past her and stomping down the corridor into the master bedroom where the mayor was happily snoring away.
Cordelia twitched and swing her fist at the man's balding head followed a small explosion that rang echoed through the room ."owww owww owwww, what the fuck was that for you little brat!" The Mayor Dr Rufus Veail shouted while rubbing his head but once he opens his eyes and saw who it was he shut his mouth and asked what it was that Cordelia needed. Although to his surprise it wasn't a need for a personal favour but to look after the child of the town defenders two of the strongest people within 1000km.
"What do you mean you need me to look after him what about his parents, or you?" Rufus asked "Arthur and Sion are dead." she said with a frown on her face. She then went on to explain everything about Damon and not knowing his race to how his parents died. After a couple hours of explaining mixed with some Q&A Cordelia decided to asked her favour again." so about the boy, can you raise him untill at least 10 then send him to a specialist school for abilitys if he awakens to one, just make sure you train him how I trained you and don't let him be put in any unnecessary dangers. If you do this I can pay you" Rufus eyed her for a second before responding. "While I can teach him he can't live here but if he stays at the orphanage I will train him daily and keep him safe at least at the orphanage he will have a higher chance to unlock an ability or unique magic and being around other kids his age and similar situation will be good for him".
"Rufus, I need him to be well looked after and protected i can't just have him sent to some orphanage to be bullied by the other kids i need you to do this" Cordelia stopped for a second and started sobbing "i,it's my fault that their dead!" Cordelia then dropped to her knees and started crying. "Hey, hey Cordelia it's fine that won't happen i will send him to the orphanage as my nephew, it's just that I don't have enough room here to let him stay but the orphanage has milk goats and the necessary facilities to care for a new born. Once he is 10 i can let him stay here and work at town hall" he smiled. "How does that sound, oh and if he awakens before then I send him to school, either way he will be cared for".
Cordelia slowly recovered wiping the tears and snot from her face with her handkerchief and glared at him. "Alright fine but you will only be paid the wage as a normal teacher and only once you started training him at 5 untill then I will give you 1,000,000gold yo pay the orphanagefor his expenses". Cordelia then placed Damon on his couch and walked out the door disappearing from view but not before a voice sounded in to the head of Rufus. [On his tenth birthday send him to Sions house their he will find the last thing his mother held] Rufus stood there stunned with a look of concern on his face, "Cordelia that bitch she can use telepathy damn is there anything that old hag can't do?"

Two weeks had gone by since Damon had been dropped off to the orphanage under the premise of being the nephew of the mayor. And given his attitude and past exploits noone douted Rufus when he told them, A man with 3 wives and 10 kids but still goes to the brothel is bound to have more than a few hidden children out there that are old enough to be Damons parents. What really concerned them was how he didn't want to look after him and the strange request he had given them along with a small note. The note was to be given to Damon on his 10th birthday and the strange request was to use any possible means even at a high expense to get Damon to awaken to an ability before he turned 10. The reason was unsure but Rufus even gave them 10,000 gold as a starting fund to awaken Damons power.
The orphanage staff did just that they bought all kinds of objects that have been known to trigger powers. Spending the 10,000 gold in the first month but alas, no power was awakend that they could tell as when one awakend a unique ability the object that was the trigger to it will disappear. by virtue of a flash of blinding light, turn to ash or molten metal before fusing with the child. leaving small marks that glow as the ability is in use be it a small dot on the back or a whole arm or leg covered in a strange pattern. It has been discovered that the larger the mark does not mean it is a more powerful ability, but that the more surface area of the body it covers makes it more powerful. This however doesn't mean Damon hasn't awakend anything as only abilitys will destroy the the trigger object if it is a unique magic no apparent change will happen only that the child will gain a new magic affinity, and with no way to test this the orphanage staff decided to ask the mayor for a testing device.
The orphanage sent a staff member to request the magic affinity test device expecting to be shut down, but to her surprise the mayor just handed her one a few minutes after she had requested it stating that it can be used on the other children and any items that haven't successfully awakend Damon can be either sold to help fund the orphanage or given to other children to attempt awakening. The staff member bowed deeply and thanked Rufus stating if there was ever anything he needed her help with she would be glad to help, before taking her leave and reporting back to the orphanage. From then on every month 10,000 gold was donated to the orphanage and the same events continued for almost 5 years with no change while the other kids awakend abilitys or magic while none particularly powerful it still made the children happy.
