Chapter 21 - Road Ahead

Lore's blade glinted in the sun as the tip of the blade gouged the eye socket of a bandit, perforating his brain, and killing him instantly.

A few bandits fled while the pair ravaged through their ranks. Blood, grey matter, limbs, and bodily fluid was splayed everywhere as the duo decimated the simple bandits.

Not long later Lore and Titus were heaving, struggling to breathe after nearly an hour of fighting. The land was soaked in blood, and the pair of men's boots squelched with each step. They looted through the remnants, and collected nearly ninety-six silver coins. Lore wiped the blood off his sword snd sheathed it. He then made his way to a local stream and cleaned himself off. The stream ran with dirty bloody water that day.

A couple hours later, Lore and Titus were making their way back down the road. A pillar of thick black smoke rose into the air.

Time passes, and Lore and Titus have made quick work of their trip.

Lore made his way to the top of a hill, and in the distance giant metal towers spread for miles in either direction. This was by far the largest city Lore had visited.

After another days worth if traveling Lore and Titus could be seen approaching the city gates.

"Halt! By order of Knight General Bolt, first of his name, Knight Genrral, and Leader of the City of Towers Trade federation, you shall stop and allow us to search you and your belongings!" A guard yelled as he approached the pair of weary travelers.

"I'm here under special orders from Knight Lord Koba, and his esteemed friend, and superior, General Valorum. Need I say more? Or shall you let us pass?" Lore spoke with a serious, and powerful tone, and the guard could almost be seen standing at a straighter attention.

"HAHA! Don't make my men piss themselves, boy! Welcome to my fine city! The City of Towers!" A fiery res-head, looming over everyone like a tree, muscles practically acting as an eclipse.

Lore stared, mouth agape at this behemoth of a man. Lore was thinking to himself that this man must have been a child of giants.

Valorum stands at eight feet tall, his massive frame could fill an entire door, and his muscles couldn't be contained in armor.

Lore was by no means a small man and he found himself feeling little next to Valorum.

"Lore, my boy. and you too Titus, will accompany me to my manor. You shall rest snd we shall have a fine meal. Tomorrow we will begin your journey from a young squire to an Apprentice and even paladin. I'll have you on assignment here for three years". Valorum's voice boomed, seemingly like he had no quiet side. "Actually Sir, I have no interest in serving as a Paladin. I'd prefer to move to Knight Lord. I have no religious ties.". Lore spoke his desire clearly and plainly.

'Well, whatever the case, we'll see you trained up to rival even me, In your dreams! HAHAHA!" Valorum's booming voice bounced off the echoing streets as he gave Lore a tour.

The stone roads extended for what seems like forever, and criss-crossed with many others. Stalls of goods and different foods lined each street. Weapons, armor, advanced items that Lore had no clue what they did. Every person they passed fell quite as they all stopped to stare at General Valorum. Children ran up to him and tried climbing all over him, young women flocked to him, and all the men seemed like they were greeting an old friend.

"Everyone! I'd like to introduce you all to our cities newest member! Lore! Treat this boy like he's one of us, he's to be training under me and act as my Apprentice".

A loud cheer erupted from the entire city after Valorum boomed out his decree.

A few kids ran up to Lore and tugged on his clothes. Lore knelt down "How can I help you out little ones?" Lore spoke gently to the kids. "Mistah, are you a Knight?! Das really cool! We all wanna be Knights like you!!" The kid spoke fast and was practically stumbling over his words. Lore laughed and rubbed the top of the first kids head and said "With lots of hardwork and practice, you can be just as strong as General Valorum. I believe in you kids!"

The kids ran off and both Valorum and Lore made their way further to the Generals abode. A huge mansion splayed out in front of Lore, that was made purely of metal, it reflected the moonlight and brilliant stars dazzled off of this massive house.
