Chapter 38 - Chapter 38

As Lore and Valorum continued to spar. Swords swinging wildly but with precision, magic erupting from their fingertips, and grins on both men's faces.

Even though they both were training for future unknown evils, and the looming threat of the Daemons both men were battle junkies. Nothing felt better to Lore or Valorum than the heat of battle. They felt at their best when they were pushing passed their limits. And the only way to do that was by facing off against others who are also trying to test themselves.

Valorum had been using Lightning magic, and Lore took full advantage of this by throwing as many spells as he could muster back. He threw everything he could think of: Fireballs, Ice Spells, Lightning spells, all of which he taught himself or learned from Ritahad taught him. He was truly lucky to use any magic element.

Valorum countered his attacks with what appeared to be a magic barrier, but once he used it Lore knew otherwise. It was so fast his mind couldn't process how quickly he moved. But Valorum's skills were apparent. He dodged and blocked every spell Lore sent his way, and Valorum's voice echoed across the battlefield.

"You're getting sloppy, boy. I'd expect more from someone of your potential. Your father taught you nothing, did he?"

As Valorem talked, his body moved like a blur.

Valorum knew Lore parents were deceased, but he wanted to distract the boy. He wanted to make him focus on something else other than the battle at hand.

Valorum feigned a swing with his sword, and Lore responded by jumping back and letting his momentum carry him backward. Valorum charged in on him, and swung his blade across Lore's torso.

Lore flew backward slamming into the ground. His ribs were bruised, but not broken. He pushed himself up to his feet, and looked up to see Valorum's smug grin.

"I think you'll need a new shirt by now." Valorum chuckled.

Lore shot him a glare and tried to formulate an attack, but Valorum wasn't taking his eyes off of him.

Valorum's sword flashed in the sunlight as he parried one blow after another.

As the sun set behind the horizon, and twilight began, both men were drenched in sweat, panting and wheezing. Lore looked more beaten up, but both men looked exhausted. They both had their wounds healed, bathed, and had dinner.

They prepared for the night and went to sleep.

The next morning the sun rose bright and clear. However, in the distance the growing magic phenomena was growing by the hour. So far, there wasn't a way to deal with the giant mass of magic.

The giant magic mass stormed over the plains where the Mighty Korush and Knight King Bartholomew fought. Where there battle left scars on the very earth. From their battle, the natural magic was raging out of control.

You could see the Magic Storm as it was monikered from nearly every where. A giant sphere like object that writhed, and twisted, and warped the space around it. Magic miasma oozed from the whole thing resembling clouds. All in all, it looked like a floating black moon floating high in the sky above even normal clouds. At night, it shone with a red hue that turned the world crimson.

Lore and Valorum stares up, wondering how to solve this dilemma.

The following day courier ravens were sent to summon every available Knight Order members; including Fledgling Knight members to the Capital city itself Chromas. The capital being over two hundred miles away from where the City of Towers. Lore and Valorum departed immediately

This was a great honor, and a huge responsibility, for the young Knights who were called upon to attend.

Many of them ran and quickly made their way back to their respective homes, or the nearest town for supplies.

As every Knight from across the land headed to the Capital; Queen Esper and the Daemon's were concocting their own strategy against the Magic Storm.

Both sides frantically sought a solution to the Magic Storm, and so both sides gathered their forces.

In the capital city Chromas, thousands of differently ranked Knights gathered at the shiny pure metal castle. It gleamed in the sun and in the sunset, the castle turned a rose gold.

The High King of Internia summoned all the Knights to the castle once word arrived of everyone's arrival. Once everyone was present in front of the castles entrance, the High King of Internia called the meeting to order.

"Thank you all for coming here today, I am sure this will not be an easy task ahead of us. I have been getting reports of the Daemon's movements, and it is pretty much as expected. Both countries seek to end the catastrophic Magic Storm. Just because we have a common enemy, don't expect them to not attack on sight.

So, I want to emphasize, take no prisoners. We are here to destroy the threat of the storm, but if any human dies today it means one less Daemon to worry about tomorrow." With that said, he bowed and sat down.

The High King nodded and addressed them once more. "We have a plan. It is risky, but it seems the only option that will work." He paused for a moment, and then continued.

"We have four-hundred Knights specialized in group magic. Our plan is to use the power of all four-hundred and seal the Magic Storm." He waited for the cheers, and jeers, and when silence filled the air he added.

"It will work, but there is no guarantee."

That night, while Valorum and Lore were asleep, the High King called them both to his throne room. When they arrived, their guards stood at attention before them.

Their king sat calmly atop the beautiful golden throne. His face showed no emotion, he just stared at the two Knights.

After a few moments Valorum broke the silence.

"What is going on, why have we been summoned here?"
