Jun Mo Xie halted for a moment, his gaze fixed on the simple wooden door before him. A bitter smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but his eyes held nothing but darkness. "They're alive."
His tone was cold, yet beneath it, there was a quiet fury, an anger that simmered beneath the surface, threatening to erupt at any moment. "Barely."
Jun Wu Yi clenched his fists. "Those bastards…"
His voice trembled with suppressed rage. "Even in war, soldiers show mercy to their enemies. What kind of monsters would do something like that to innocent children?"
Jun Mo Xie pushed the wooden door open, and Jun Wu Yi instinctively held his breath, expecting the sight of frail, broken children lying on their beds. But instead, the room was… empty.
Rows of large vine jars lined the walls, their dark, earthen surfaces giving the space an eerie, lifeless feel. A faint herbal fragrance lingered in the air, but there were no signs of the children.
Jun Wu Yi frowned, momentarily confused. "Mo Xie… where are they?"
Without answering, Jun Mo Xie strode inside. Then, right before Jun Wu Yi's eyes, his figure vanished—completely swallowed by thin air.
Jun Wu Yi stiffened. His battle-honed instincts kicked in, and his muscles tensed as he scanned the room for hidden formations or traps.
But before he could react further, Jun Mo Xie's head suddenly poked out from thin air, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
"Third Uncle, are you just going to stand there? Come in."
Jun Wu Yi exhaled sharply, shaking his head at his nephew's antics, before stepping forward cautiously.
The moment his foot crossed the threshold, the world around him twisted—space itself bent and shifted as he found himself suddenly standing in an entirely different place.
And what he saw left him momentarily stunned.
A vast, sprawling space stretched endlessly before him. The sky above was deep blue, an artificial sun shining brightly, casting warm rays over the land.
Lush green fields spread in all directions, the air rich with vitality. In the distance, he could see various training grounds, medicinal fields, and even what appeared to be living quarters.
But what truly caught his attention was the formation of warriors standing in perfect lines before him.
Over two hundred and fifty elite guards of the Jun Family stood at attention, their backs straight, their eyes sharp and unwavering. Their very presence exuded a formidable aura, the weight of their combined strength pressing against Jun Wu Yi like a silent storm.
They were not just trained soldiers.
These were warriors forged in the depths of hell itself.
With military precision, they immediately cupped their fists and greeted him in unison.
"We greet Third Master Jun!"
Their voices thundered across the space like a war drum, sending vibrations through the ground.
Jun Wu Yi couldn't hide his astonishment. "Mo Xie… what is this?"
Jun Mo Xie stood at his side, arms crossed, watching the scene with a satisfied glint in his eyes. "This… is something I've kept hidden from both you and Grandpa."
He let out a sigh, his expression turning slightly more serious. "There are things I cannot reveal just yet, but when the time is right, I will tell you everything."
Jun Wu Yi was still digesting everything when he remembered the children. He turned to Mo Xie with urgency. "And the children? Are they here as well?"
Jun Mo Xie's face softened slightly. "Yes. They are receiving treatment as we speak. If you wish, you can go and see them now."
A wave of relief flooded through Jun Wu Yi. He had been prepared to face another tragedy, but hearing that the children were safe made his heart feel lighter.
"Take me to them." His voice was firm, eager.
Jun Mo Xie nodded and gestured toward one of the guards. "Escort my Third Uncle to the medical chamber."
The warrior saluted before motioning for Jun Wu Yi to follow.
As he walked away, Jun Wu Yi couldn't help but glance back at his nephew, a mixture of pride and deep curiosity in his eyes. Just what else have you been hiding, Mo Xie?
Jun Wu Yi had barely left when an unsettling silence fell upon the vast space.
Jun Mo Xie remained where he stood, his expression unreadable, his gaze fixed on nothing in particular. Yet, the weight of his presence made it impossible for anyone to relax.
Solitary Falcon shifted uneasily, his usual carefree arrogance nowhere to be seen. Feng Juan Yun, a man who rarely showed fear, looked like he had swallowed something bitter.
Demon Lord, Long Sha, and Gui Sha, men who had committed countless atrocities without flinching, stood stiffly, as if afraid to speak.
They all knew.
They had known from the moment Jun Wu Yi asked about the children.
And worse… Jun Mo Xie knew they knew.
Still, no one dared to utter a word.
The air itself seemed to be still. Even the sun in the sky felt dimmer.
Jun Mo Xie finally turned his gaze toward them, his eyes as cold and endless as the abyss.
"It was as I predicted, wasn't it?"
His voice was calm.
That was what terrified them.
If he had erupted in rage, it would have been better. If he had destroyed everything in sight, they would have understood. But this? This eerie, unnatural calm…
No one answered.
Not because they didn't want to, but because acknowledging it meant setting off a storm that not even the heavens could contain.
Long Sha and Gui Sha, ruthless killers feared throughout the world, lowered their gazes, unwilling to meet his eyes.
Solitary Falcon clenched his fists. Damn it… He had never seen Jun Mo Xie angry before, but what was in front... he never wanted to anger him at all.
Feng Juan Yun exhaled quietly, his usually sharp gaze darkened with foreboding.
Jun Mo Xie let out a slow, deliberate breath, his shoulders rising and falling as if trying to suppress the tidal wave of emotions surging within him.
When he finally spoke, his voice was no louder than a whisper. But it carried the weight of a death sentence.
"Go."
His eyes gleamed with an unnatural light, an eerie, bone-chilling glow that sent shivers down everyone's spine.
"Catch every single one of those responsible."
The silence in the space deepened.
"Don't kill them."
Demon Lord raised a brow slightly. That was unexpected.
But before anyone could assume he was showing mercy, Jun Mo Xie continued.
"They are not to die. But they are not to live either."
His voice was like a blade, cold and merciless.
"Make sure they understand the torment they inflicted. Every. Single. Second."
Even Demon Lord, who had done things most wouldn't dare speak of, felt a chill run down his spine.
Jun Mo Xie's words weren't just an order.
They were a declaration of something far more terrifying than death.
Long Sha grinned darkly, finally looking up. "Since the boss has spoken… what's stopping us?"
Gui Sha chuckled, his voice sinister. "Heh. I've always wanted to test my limits in creativity…"
The two of them disappeared like ghosts, fading into the shadows to carry out their orders.
Demon Lord gave Jun Mo Xie a meaningful glance before turning away. He had seen countless men seek vengeance, but this was something else entirely.
Jun Mo Xie stood there for a moment longer, his expression unreadable. Then, he exhaled softly, as if brushing off the suffocating darkness that threatened to consume him.
Without another word, he turned and walked away.
The storm had already begun.
And those responsible would soon learn the true meaning of suffering.
