The same scene as the daytime outpatient clinic appeared again. Patients with emergency numbers surrounded the doctor's consultation room so tightly that not a single drop of water could get through. Each patient and their family members were waiting anxiously for the doctor.
Some patients were in the midst of an episode, which only exacerbated the anxiety. They were even less patient than daytime outpatients. In their minds, waiting even one second longer might cost their life.
The patients' medical records were piled into a small mountain on the doctor's desk.
In reality, patients coming to the emergency room all had to go through triage at the nurse station first. The triage nurse would determine the severity and urgency of the patient's condition. If a patient truly needed immediate attention from a doctor, the nurse wouldn't have them line up in the consultation room like an outpatient. Instead, the nurse would call the doctor directly.
