"Derek, we're not leaving here until you tell me how you really feel. You were the one that always said communication is key and you're not doing that right now. Tell me." Even though it was her mother he would have to speak against, Jane was fine with it.
"When you were away to send the message to the paperman, I had dinner with my mother and told her she wasn't allowed to visit us anymore. The conversation wasn't an easy one given how my mother is and even though she said she only has one daughter, she'll be back. Would you like to move?" Jane suggested since the house had too much negative energy. They added two members to the family and it should feel vibrant, warm, and welcoming.
"Are you serious?" Derek had the thought earlier but he didn't expect Jane would be the one to bring it up. They bought this house with the expectation of it being their forever home. Where they would raise their children. "Jane, I am not that upset for you to want to pack up and leave because of me."
