Chapter 51 - North West!

"So is it like a tradition?" Alex spoke, since he got the general idea of what they saw.

"No, it's not a tradition," Notos spoke back, "We don't know why it keeps happening either."

Notos was about about to continue.

Then...

"DATU!!!" A shout came from afar that reverberated to the entire forest. The peace and quiet normally veiling the whole village has been broken.

The villagers are all alarmed. When someone shouts within the trees it's always a terrible sign.

Storm and Finch rushed out the hut to see what's the problem.

"Report!" Datu Storm shouted back.

"Thunder beasts! Many of them!" The warrior shouted in answer.

"Direction!" Datu Storm inquired.

"North West! Near the border of the Tribe of Water!" The warrior replied.

The whole village is now in scramble, warriors running to and fro gathering weapons; spears, swords, shields, bow and arrows. Basically every weapon they could find.

"Tch." Finch is annoyed, they can barely fight off one thunder beast with almost all their warriors, let alone multiple.

"Finch, go assemble the warriors and capable apprentices then send that man to the healer," Datu Storm ordered as he also prepared himself.

"What about those kids?" Finch asked referring to Alex's group.

"Have them prepared as well," Storm said as he disappeared into the foliage.

Finch rushed into the hut, "You 5, you come with me," Finch ordered, pointing at; Alex, Kristin, Elijah, Leslie, and Charlotte.

"What about me?" Joana asked, quite jealous that she's gonna miss out of the fun, again.

"You go back to the healer's hut and help healer Crane tend to those who'll be wounded," Finch said in a stern voice, "What are you waiting for? Move!"

The group scrambled out of the hut as they got ready for the looming battle.

-Near the border of Tribe of wind and water-

"What in the name of the spirits?!" A voice could be heard, as he is looking at crackling purple electricity among the trees.

"Tsk, thunderbeasts," Another man said, "We have to warn the datu," he said.

"But we also need to warn the tribe of wind," A young voice said, clearly an apprentice.

"The tribe of wind would know that there are thunderbeasts near their territory," A man said as he turned to return to the Tribe of Water.

The others follow suit after taking a last glance at the dancing electricity.

-Tribe of Wind-

Warriors walk left, right, down, and up the trees, preparing for the fight against the thunderbeasts.

"Pine!" Storm called. A moment later Pine appeared, kneeling before the Datu.

"Yes Datu," Pine said respectfully.

"Go to the Tribe of Fire and have them call to arms because of a herd of thunderbeasts" Storm ordered.

"As you wish," Said Pine as he disappeared without a trace.

The apprentices were also being moved, carrying supplies to and fro the treetops.

"Man, why are we carrying all this, and what's with the thunderbeast? Aren't they just legends used to scare kids?" An apprentice named Avis complained.

"Base on how the warriors are reacting, I guess its more than just legends," Another apprentice named Kalin replied.

While the other apprentices were tasked with bringing things from tree to tree, Alex and company were tasked differently.

"Every abled body will be called to arms, even some apprentices but you five are special," Finch started, "We were told that chosen heroes are a natural user of magic and thus this has been kept in secret most of the time," Finch said as they are walking down a path Elijah recognizes, the path towards the blacksmith.

"Narra, its me, Finch," Finch knocked.

After a few sound of metal clanging hitting the floor, the door opened.

"Ah Finch, are the weapons not enough for everyone?" Narra asked, he also heard the scream.

"No, we're not here for more swords and spears," Finch replied, and took a deep breath, "We're here for the inheritance."

"What?!" Narra's eyes opened with shock, "Finch this is a terrible joke you're playing!" Narra pointing a finger at Finch.

"I am not messing with you, these kids are the new heroes," Finch said as he waved his hand towards them.

"And what proof do you have of that?" Narra asked, still suspicious.

"The Legend-Keep has confirmed its them," Finch answered.

"You know I don't trust the legend-keep," Narra rebuked.

"Just give the kids a chance, its not like they're the first to try to see if they are the heroes," Finch pleaded.

"Alright, one try, that's all I'm gonna give them," Narra finally wavered, "And I'm only doing this because of our friendship."

"Thank you, my friend," Finch said in gratitude.

*Sigh* "Come inside," Narra welcomed them into his fiery abode.
