Zuriel stood before Amaris with a solemn expression.
"Take the sword with you."
Amaris looked at him. "Where?"
"The Obsidian Fields."
"Why there?"
"Because the sword cannot reach its true power here."
Zuriel turned toward the corridor. "It needs to consume a thousand souls. You cannot possibly carry a thousand souls with you."
Amaris nodded slowly. "So we bring the sword to the souls."
"Exactly." Zion stepped closer. "And once it has consumed them, the sword will no longer be ordinary."
Amaris glanced toward the key in her hand.
"My father's chamber?"
Zuriel nodded. "Come, let me show you."
"I'll come with you," Zion said.
Amaris smiled. "Of course."
They walked through several corridors before reaching a quiet section of Alsheem. Unlike the rest of the citadel, this area was almost peaceful. There were no guards. No weapons. No demons wandering through the halls.
At the end stood a large black door. Amaris stopped.
"This is it?"
