Chapter 813 - The Men in Black

Hearing Margaret's words, her male companion's lips curved into a smile as he said:

"Amon? Heh, I actually hope he comes! If so, he can pay back a portion of the blood debt he owes me!"

With that, he took off his mask, revealing a youthful face.

If Ebner were here, he would certainly recognize him as the so-called "Acting Commander" of the "Kaspersky" base.

"So confident?" Margaret raised an eyebrow, simultaneously slipping off her high heels and sitting on the lounge sofa.

Her waist was naturally slender, full of allure even without a corset. Even in her current rather ungraceful sitting posture, she resembled a slowly unfolding beautiful painting.

However, the young man opposite her was oblivious to this beautiful "painting." He simply poured himself a cup of black tea, sipped it, and said, "I have confidence in His Majesty... He once left a seal in my mind, telling me it would be enough to give Amon an unforgettable lesson."

"The means His Majesty left you can actually contend with Amon?" Margaret asked with considerable surprise and curiosity, "What did he seal?"

"I don't know... His Majesty only told me not to probe; the information contained within would be equally dangerous to me..." The young man put down his cup and shook his head.

"Very dangerous to you... Once Amon seizes your fate and steals your memories, He would also gain this warning..." Margaret reminded him.

"Heh, is Amon the kind of person who sees a warning and doesn't investigate? He'd probably be even more excited, wouldn't He?" The young man let out a cold laugh.

Clearly, he had a certain degree of understanding of Amon's character.

"That's true," Margaret nodded, then dropped the topic, shifting to say, "You should know why I came to see you, right? Ace of Hearts..."

"I can mostly guess..." The young man nodded slightly, "Twelve of Clubs."

As he spoke, he organized his thoughts and continued, "But I can't be certain..."

"You can't be certain? Didn't you preside over the 'resurrection' ritual?" Margaret asked with a frown.

"But something went wrong... His Majesty, well, let's call that person His Majesty for now, he awakened in the Delien family's 'Black Knight'... so I still have some doubts about his identity." At this point, the young man relayed some of his attempts at probing from that day to "Twelve of Clubs."

After listening, Margaret said thoughtfully, "It sounds fine... And that 'ancestor' of the Delien family was very close to His Majesty before becoming a Demigod. His descendants might even be His Majesty's bloodline, so it might be normal for him to revive in Sero Delien...

"But according to what you said, his personality indeed isn't like His Majesty's... Yet His Majesty had a big change in his later years, so we can't judge it's not him based on that alone..."

The young man gave a wry smile and said, "That's why I said I couldn't be certain."

"In that case... it's best if the 'Men in Black' I command don't contact him for now... If he summons for something, I'll first send people from the 'Demoness Sect' to him... until we're certain he is truly His Majesty," Margaret quickly decided.

"Heh, you've certainly done well for yourself, 'Saintess of Red' of the 'Demoness Sect'," the young man chuckled, teasing her.

The high-ranking members of the Demoness Sect all used colors as codenames, such as "Saintess of White," "Saintess of Black," and here, "Saintess of Red."

"Thanks for the compliment... but it still can't compare to you, Vice President of the 'Hermit of Fate Society'," Margaret retorted.

Afterward, the two looked at each other for a few seconds, then both laughed... but their laughter contained both mirth and a hint of sadness.

After a while, Margaret sighed and said, "Of that batch of people from over a hundred years ago, only you and I are left..."

"Indeed, the 'Diamonds' group was openly active and was wiped out by the Churches and various forces early on; the 'Spades' group was mainly responsible for foreign affairs, and also lost their protection, being dug out by intelligence agencies of various countries. The remaining members then defected to the Princess and joined the 'Dawn of Elements'..."

At this point, the young man's face showed some weariness. He repeated Margaret's earlier words: "Only we are left!"

"So, what are you waiting for? Won't you reminisce about the past with me?" Margaret suddenly untied her dress, saying temptingly.

The young man, however, shook his head firmly, turning away from Margaret's body as her clothes automatically fell off. He said, "Even if we are to revisit the past, it must be my main body... This avatar cannot have such a cheap pleasure."

"You still care about that?" Margaret asked in surprise.

...I don't even care.

"It's a form of respect for you... though it ultimately means nothing," the young man said, pursing his lips.

Margaret fell silent for a moment upon hearing this, then curved her eyes and said, "If I were a hundred years younger, I might even fall in love with you."

"Good thing you didn't... those who love me don't usually have good ends..." The young man grinned, self-deprecatingly.

Margaret, now re-dressed, didn't pursue that topic. Instead, she changed the subject: "Where is your main body? Did it stay in Loen after the 'Hermit of Fate Gathering' and not return?"

If it were anyone else asking, the young man naturally wouldn't answer, but for Margaret, he chose not to conceal: "I found a Jacob family Demigod in Backlund. She seems to hold the secret of a treasure and has parasitized a noble lady.

"However, that 'Parasite's' mystical knowledge is clearly incomplete, missing many important details, allowing me to easily 'influence' her without her knowing.

"She still believes to this day that she is bound by that noble lady due to a so-called 'contract'!"

.....

At nine in the evening, after the final major event of the Valerian family's masquerade ball, the screening of the new "film," concluded, Ebner and Helene finally left the luxurious manor and boarded their carriage.

—Helene had come to the ball specifically to observe the premiere's effect... It seemed their film company, Ebner's and hers, had succeeded once again!

Even before the silent comedy film began, Ebner had asked her about taking Tracy in and caring for her. After several hours of deliberation, Helene finally made her decision:

"Ebner, please bring her over... She has no one to rely on now... Consider it my repayment for her care on the 'Black Death' ship."

Without Tracy's care, one could imagine the tragic fate she would have met on the "Black Death" ship.

Ebner nodded upon hearing this, saying nothing more. He simply instructed her to return to the hotel to pack her luggage, then vanished from the carriage.

As he headed to the altar to teleport to the Rorsted Archipelago, what he was thinking was:

The entire ball went without any problems... It seems my "gathering calamity" constitution likely originates from the "Pure White Eye," as I had suspected!

The few times I've had uneventful gatherings before were also when I didn't use the "Pure White Eye" or used it very little...

Is there something behind the "Pure White Eye" that can cause "calamities"?

.....

On a desolate island south of the Rorsted Archipelago, Danitz was guarding a bonfire, bored and dozing off. But his spiritual intuition was suddenly triggered. He vigilantly opened his eyes and saw Gehrman stand up.

His heart startled, he quickly looked towards the cave entrance, only to see the detective he disliked enter, wearing an exaggerated officer's uniform.

He's dressed as if he's going to a masquerade ball... He's even more pretentious than that "Flower Tie" guy!

Danitz grumbled inwardly, then saw the detective greet Gehrman and walk directly to "Vice Admiral of Ailment's" side.

The other party briefly examined Tracy's condition, then frowned. He then picked her up horizontally and vanished from the cave with her.

Gehrman stared at the spot where they disappeared for a few seconds, contemplating something, then turned back to signal Danitz, ready to return to the hotel on Lans Island.

"Where did they go?" Danitz asked curiously after catching up to Gehrman.

"They might have gone back to Bayam first," Klein replied casually. He knew that Mr. Tower's "teleportation" distance wasn't too far; a long-distance teleportation would likely require the "teleportation altar" at "Fragrant Manor."

"Our destination is Bayam later too, right? Why didn't you let him take us along?" Danitz mumbled softly.

Because I haven't gotten my deposit back from the Lans Island hotel... Klein glanced at him, thinking.
