Appearing back in front of the Kumo shinobi after having to shrink myself in order to dodge his black lightning jutsu. I carefully observed the shinobi, with most of my attention being on the lightning aura surrounding his body.
'Impressive,' Konoha had no such jutsu so this was the first time I'd seen something like it, and I found the technique fascinating. If the shinobi wasn't my enemy I'd have asked him how it worked.
With a sigh, I thought. 'Sadly I cannot allow him to live.'
A light bulb lit up my brain as a dangerous but interesting idea came to my mind. 'Hmm!! if I can sneak into Kumogakure I should be able to find the scroll it's written on,' The idea of learning the jutsu after the war is over bringing a slight smile to my face.
Taking my mind away from the jutsu, I looked at the shinobi and I could see he was getting furious, well more than he already was as I continued to ignore him.
"Did you do this?" the Kumogakure shinobi asked, his fury clear for me to see.
There was no point in replying, my silence was all the answer he needed to confirm what he already knew.
"I will kill you!!!!" the shinobi growled.
"I doubt, but ok." I finally replied, my young but cold voice stunning him slightly. I was 70:30 in killing him, with 70% being my chances of killing him. And even if I'm not able to, I doubt there's a shinobi strong enough to stop me from escaping. Not since Hashirama at least.
"A kid," he muttered with a slight frown marring his face. But his face quickly became stoic, being young doesn't always determine strength. Hashirama and Madara proved that during the warring clans era that ended not too long ago.
With a burst of speed I charged at the shinobi, the kumo shinobi tensed and prepared himself for my assault, but I shrunk myself right as I reached him. The shinobi wasn't able to react as I appeared behind him with my tanto aimed at his heart. I was going to kill him with one strike if I could. That's how I fight, minimising the number of attacks I dished out.
"Tch!" I hissed with widened eyes as the blade of my tanto broke into pieces as it came in contact with the lightning aura surrounding his body. The loss of the entirety of the blade causing me to slightly lose my balance.
The shinobi sharply turned around with a burst of speed the moment my tanto came in contact with the lightning aura. The lightning aura surrounding his body was concentrated on just one finger. As he turned he attacked me with that finger, sending a diagonal slash at where I was located behind him.
I could feel the danger emanating from that single-finger attack, so I shrunk myself dodging the strike. In my shrunken form, I headed towards the roof of one of the buildings in the compound. Returning back to my original size, I crouched on the roof as I observed the shinobi while he was searching for my location.
'I'd lose out in a physical confrontation, but he's unable to find me as long as I'm hidden so I'd use that to my advantage.'
'Huh!' I paused as my mask split and fell down to the roof making a clattering sound.
'How?!' I whispered, but I didn't have the time to dwell on it as the shinobi's head turned towards my current location. Shrinking myself immediately, a replacement kitsune mask appeared on my face, protecting my identity from the shinobi.
I summoned over a dozen chakra rods and sent them towards him. In a burst of speed, he jumped up as the chakra rods appeared, successfully dodging all of them. With a smirk hidden behind my mask, I appeared right in front of him as gravity was just about to send him back to the ground. With a slight burst of chakra, I summoned my gunbai to my hand while augmenting my strength, and also sending chakra into the gunbai to transform the edges to blades. I then slammed the bladed edge of the gunbai into the midriff of the kumo shinobi, sending him flying backward and into the wall of the compound.
Not wanting to take any chance, I summoned over twenty chakra rods and sent them towards the spot the shinobi crashed into.
With a frown, I shrunk myself again, disappearing from the spot I was standing.
'Does he have some kind of regeneration ability comparable to sense?' I asked myself as I landed and then crouched on another rooftop.
I could still see the kumo shinobi despite all the dust his crash caused as he was within my byakugan range and I wasn't happy with what I was seeing. Although his already massive chakra reserves reduced slightly, he was relatively unharmed from my attack.
'No, not regeneration, he wasn't harmed by my attack in the slightest. The lightning aura surrounding him must be protecting his body. Not just that, his body must be very durable too, I'm certain my attack bypassed the lightning aura.'
I expunged every extra thought from my head as I rapidly calculated every attack I'd landed and his reaction. 'The shinobi's fighting style was reckless, although I never gave him the chance to attack me, but he wasn't overly worried about my attack.'
I looked up as he extricated himself from the debris surrounding him. Although it felt like a long time, it had only been a few seconds since my attack sent him flying.
'If I'm right about his durability, It means it would take a protracted battle to be able to kill him. So one final attack just to confirm my hypothesis, if I'm right then I'd retreat. I can't afford to let the clone guarding the Daimyo dispel by using up most of my chakra.'
Jumping down from the roof I ensured I made enough sound to attract the shinobi's attention. With a burst of chakra we both charged at each other, this was going to be the final attack in our short fight. The kumo shinobi concentrated his chakra in his outstretched finger, while I augmented my gunbai wielding hand with chakra, I then sent about a dozen chakra rods ahead of me to give me the advantage by forcing the shinobi to defend. With a burst of black lightning, the kumo shinobi destroyed the chakra rods before they could strike him.
With the distance between us about five meters, I shrunk myself and disappeared from the shinobi's sight. Already expecting this move, he turned around with a roar and released his one-finger attack in a diagonal slash at where he expected I'd appear.
'Checkmate,' I whispered as I appeared back where I'd been. He tried to turn and defend his body but it was already too late. I had coated my gunbai with wind release chakra, and with a burst of speed, I slammed the gunbai into his midriff. Not letting him off, I matched the speed of his flying body by applying lightning chakra on my body, rapidly increasing my speed. With my gunbai still attached to his body, I slammed his body into the wall of the compound.
With lightning weak against wind release, the lightning aura dissipated where the gunbai touched it, which allowed my gunbai to connect directly with his body, sending his blood everywhere and turning my mask crimson with warm blood dripping off it.
Although he was injured, it was nowhere near enough to kill him, and I could already feel the shinobi getting back to his feet.
"Next time we meet, you won't be so lucky," I said as I shrunk myself and disappeared.
"Next time I'd kill you," The kumo shinobi said but I'd already disappeared.
Although I wasn't comfortable leaving him alive, it was the wiser option. I injured him because my abilities caught him off guard. Given a prolonged fight, while improbable, it was still possible for him to figure out and counter my abilities. Hashirama-sensei could do it, so while he was no Hashirama, I still couldn't risk him figuring out how to counter my ability. Not while he was stronger than me.
'I'd be stronger in our next meeting, so him figuring out a counter would be pointless by then,' I muttered as I headed towards where I was sensing the chakra of my clone.
