The existence of the rank 3 Armor divine ability is also why the noble didn't bother to wear armor. It is because any armor that he wears will either be very heavy and tiring for him.
He doesn't have a divine ability to help him have a strong but light armor. So he has to choose between an armor that is very strong but too heavy or an armor that is light but useless in protecting him because it isn't strong enough.
Rather than wear armor that could either be useless or slow him down, the noble decided to forgo the armor completely and try his best not to place himself in a dangerous situation that requires armor for protection.
This is why the noble had decided that when the armies begins to move to do battle, he will stand his ground and not move forward to continue to lead his army.
It is a decision that he has made his mind up about because of the way that Isaac was glaring at him from across the battlefield.
