"Hey! What are you doing?! You can't eat that!" Someone exclaimed after I ate the watermelon rinds.
"What? Why not?" I questioned after taking a bite out of the rinds and chewing on it.
"No way! Are you telling me you can actually eat the skin?!" Another person excitedly demanded before she took one of the extra watermelon slices from the plate in-between us and took a very large bite out of it. We watched her chew on it for a while, making dramatic faces in cerebration before her face lit up in awe. "Wooaaaaah .. this is freaking delicious! Tem, you gotta try this!"
"Oh come on, not you too! Isn't it bad for you?" Tempest asked me out of curiosity.
"I don't know. My sister always says it's good for me" I answered her with a shrug before I continued feasting on these delicious watermelon slices. I don't know what it is about summer but watermelon is just so damn good on this season.
"Wait a second, you have a sister?!! Man, I always wanted an older sibling. What's her name?" The other person exclaimed out of fervour and even leaned over the table which lead to me leaning back because of how close she got.
"Uhh .. Mary-Jane ... or MJ for short" I answered her awkwardly.
"Mary-Jane? That's such a weird name. Where are you from?" Tempest wondered out of curiosity.
"Sinerenis village ... but uhhh ... it's gone. So is .. my family so .. I guess I don't really have a sister anymore"
"Damn. That's a little personal dude. Way to ruin the moment" Tempest said after she took another bite out of a watermelon slice.
"What? No it's not. Don't worry, I lost my parents too so I know how you feel. Tem's family is still alive so don't listen to a thing she says, got it?" Erin reassured me, offering her hand to me in the form of a fist. What was she expecting?
I stared at her fist for a couple of seconds and raised an eyebrow out of confusion. Erin only shook her fist up and down as if that was somehow going to help.
...
...
...
When Tempest noticed the awkwardness, she grabbed my hand and lifted it up. "Here. Make a fist like hers" she ordered out of frustration. I did as she instructed before she pressed my fist against Erins and released it. "There. That's a fist pump"
Erin then stifled her laughter when she noticed how confused I still was. What was I supposed to be? I had never heard of anything related to a fist pump before and to this day, it's history is still lost to me. "Don't worry, it's just this gesture of greeting Tem and I use. I created it" Erin explained it to me.
"Oh .. so it's like the heart" I said, staring at my fist and remembering what my sister taught me. I then crossed my right thumb and index finger to form the shape of a heart.
"Yeah, something like that but we prefer the fist pump. It seems less girly ya know" Erin continued to explain before she grabbed another watermelon slice and ate the whole thing in one big gulp.
"Hey, stop stuffing your face. Tiriara's coming back soon and she won't be happy if we ate it all" Tempest scolded Erin as usual.
"Sorry" Erin apologised awkwardly, scratching the back of her head. "Say .. why are your eyes always closed? I just noticed that"
"What?" I asked her.
"Yeah. Wait a second, why are your eyes always closed? Are you blind or something?" Tempest continued.
"No uhh .. my eyes are fine, it's just that I prefer to keep them closed. I can see just fine .. I mean, you should know considering that we just sparred" I awkwardly explained while keeping my head low.
"Well come on. Open them .. wake up" Erin insisted when she hopped over the table and suddenly tackled me out of nowhere. Before I knew it, she was suddenly on top of me and despite how small she was, she was still heavy. Oh right ... I remember it now. This was a couple of years ago ... when we first met and when we first ate together. That's why she was so heavy and .. why we were so small.
"Wait, what are you doing?" I asked her when I looked around and tried to break free. The reason for this being that she pressed her hands onto my wrists and pinned them to the floor of the soft carpet. We were inside that small cabin in the middle of the woods and the soft fluffy carpet was still so comfortable but when did she jump on me? Did that happen? "Hey, get off of me"
"Pin her down h3jKw1LfMqvrhFQeqn34byOoFMMQora/wbnYcgAuYYM= !!" Tempest exclaimed when she stood up and carefully approached me. She came to a stop beside us and crouched down so that she could see my face.
"I already am. You should really j2eYmZiLZIxio4tqEPMeUWZX1jBctU66GT0N+TlrctZ/FQthw438LnW06MuHgdYk9xAvCkUcOT+JGJI4S5V1ZRJWLCoXFGk/X+ieRomPBxv4A0u4eiEQe7lptV6ek5MMUqmZr5fwk6C8jUnKwAaqKie7Bvkvr9ZgBwBYhGchgoU=" Erin screamed repeatedly, using inaudible sounds that made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. Both of their bodies slowly started glitching as if I was in a terrible simulation before Tempest morphed into this black mass of tendrils that swallowed her body and left Erin and I alone. I tried to break free but for some reason, Erin was so much stronger than me.
Her eyes started glowing, filling both of her eyes with this inhuman glow that illuminated into mine with enough light to blind me. Her shrieks became unbearable but demonic in nature, morphing from 24 bits to something lower and less comfortable.
I then opened my eyes and the first thing I did after that, was sit up and gasp for air. My throat felt abnormally dry and my body had already begun sweating from the nightmare that clearly plagued me. My hair fell passed my face which was partly one of the reasons that I feel so hot in wherever I currently am.
"Maddy! Maddy, oh my god. You're awake!" Erin exclaimed when she suddenly wrapped her arms around me into a tight embrace. My eyes widened in horror when I heard that overly familiar voice along with her nervous breathing. She then pulled herself back and examined my face, checking to make sure if I wasn't hurt in any way. "I was so worried. I thought that she ... I thought she killed you"
Her mesmerising golden eyes were mixed with nothing but concern and while I was staring into hers, I happened to notice that little girl in the corner of this dark mysterious room, sitting behind Erin. The room we were in was dark, damp and unwelcoming but it was also a caged prison cell.
"No, what are you talking about? I thought she.." I said, unable to continue because now it just didn't make any sense at all. "She killed you. She shot you..."
"Maddy, listen to me. What you saw was a semblance. I'm fine and .. and so are you. You are fine right? You're not hurt are you?"
Nulara cowered in the corner of the room, wrapping her arms around her legs and keeping her head low. She must still be terrified of me because I knocked her out and nearly gave her to the woman chasing after her
"Maddy?" Erin called out to me and gently turned my face in her direction.
...
...
...
"You're not Erin..."
"What? What do you mean? Maybe you're still..." Erin tried to persuade but this wasn't Erin. I was sure of it.
"No..." I interrupted her, shaking my head in disbelief. "The real Erin would've comforted the girl first. And you feel nothing like Erin" I whispered, pushing her away from me and picking myself up from the floor.
To my surprise, Erin suddenly started laughing hysterically after she fell onto her ass and while I dusted myself off, I noticed that her complexion was turning pale and blood had started pouring from the fatal bullet wound on the right side of her head. Her maniacal laughter grew louder and louder until she brushed her auburn hair to the back and picked herself up from the floor.
"Wow, I should've known that it was impossible to fool you with this skin sack. Your perception is remarkable as usual ... but too bad it wasn't good enough to figure out how to save me" Erin said when she dusted herself off and tried to make herself look presentable despite how deceased her body actually was.
"What are you? A ghost? A phantom? A figment of my imagination?"
"Oh! There it is! That's right. I'm a figment of your broken imagination. A phantom created from the trauma of your failures .. or one of them anyway. I thought I'd be that poor elderly caretaker but nope, guess poor little Erins death has an even bigger impact on your psyche" Erin explained to me while she walked up to Nulara and stood in front of her. "Say ... do you think I could've been her? You basically fucked up her life when you could've taken her to the hospital .. maybe even the academy"
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked her when I slowly crouched down in the same position Erin was standing in.
...
...
...
Nulara closed her eyes and tried to ignore my voice despite how much she was actually shaking. I could feel the fear radiating from her but I don't think there's anything I'll be able to do right now but save her.
I then stood up and sighed. That was when another voice spoke over one of the intercoms in the cell.
"Rise and shine sleepyheads! It's time to wake up!" An annoying but childish voice exclaimed through the intercoms.
Erin and I both turned around and looked up at the intercoms. Since she was a figment of my imagination, she probably knew what I was thinking right now.
"Well well well, would you look at that. You couldn't sense that intercom could you? What do you think happened to your electroreceptors?"
She's right. Why didn't I sense it when I woke up?
I looked down at my hands and tried to generate some electricity between my hands but only a small spark was generated.
"Ding ding ding!! You figured it out, didn't you?" Erin asked me.
"You can try and activate your aether all you want little miss knight but it won't work. Those walls are coated in orphonium crystals and I'm sure you know what happens to you aether-practitioners around that" The little girl explained on the other side of that intercom.
She's right. Orphonium crystals are naturally-occurring, but an immensely rare, mineral substance that exists at the lowest depths of the ocean which means that only aquakinetics can reach it. These rare crystals give off an indistinct wavelength that interferes with the appendix, making it impossible to draw out any aether energy at all. My electroreceptors rely entirely on aether energy so without it, I'm basically as ordinary as every other woman out there.
"Ahhh .. well that's a shame. How will you break out now?" Erin asked me when I turned around and drew closer to the prison bars. No surprise there, the bars itself were also coated in orphonium based on the fact that the texture alone pricked my skin despite it being completely smooth.
"Oh my, I wonder how you'll break out now" The little girl wondered out loud.
"Where's my friend" I asked prior to turning around and walking up to the intercom.
"What?"
"Erin! Where is her body?!" I demanded but this only made the little girl giggle in the background.
"Oh wouldn't you want to know heehehhahahah!!! You can ask me all you want but I'm not telling!" the girl joked, giggling in the background like a really annoying hyena. "Ohhh, but there is some way you could see her"
I quietly waited for her to continue.
"Outside of the bars, there's a switchblade. Pick it up" The girl ordered me and even from here, I could tell that she was smiling from ear-to-ear but instead of thinking about that, I spotted the switchblade just within range of my arms and wondered just what she was gonna make me do with that. When did this turn into a saw situation?
I quietly picked up the switchblade and flipped up the blade of the knife to see if it was sharp. "Hehehehe ... with that blade, if you want to leave ... slit the girls throat"
"You want me to kill the girl you were trying to kidnap?" I asked her while glancing at the little girl who clearly heard what I was tasked to do. Nulara looked up between the intercom and I in worry and she could probably see the lack of hesitancy or concern on my face.
"She's served her purpose and she wasn't even worth all of the trouble. Rotten little brat" The girl explained with some antipathy towards her. "Kill her and I'll set you free"
"D-Don't listen to her ... p-please don't kill me" Nulara begged of me when she lowered her skinny legs and sat up. "Please .... just ... please..."
Erin casually threw her right arm around my neck. "Ohohohohoho. What will you do now? Do you really want to.." Before Erin could finish that question, I slapped her arm off of my shoulder and rushed forward like a blur. Nulara couldn't even react in time before I pushed her up against the wall and kept the tip of the blade up against the center of her neck and slowly pushed it forward, enough to draw out some blood.
Nulara closed her eyes as tightly as possible, awaiting her painful demise without any resistance. I then flipped the switchblade and held the blade up against her throat, preparing to slit it instead of a more painful demise. I might as well make it quick and painless rather than slow and painful right?
"Are you really going to slit her throat you savage? Even I know that it's completely out of taste. Cut off her tongue instead" Erin suggested but
...
...
...
eventually, I couldn't do it. Normally, I would, I'm not above killing children but Erin wouldn't want this. She'd probably haunt me for the rest of my life if I took this kids life.
The little girl on the other side then proceeded to explode out into laughter on the other side of the intercoms after watching me fail. I wasn't sure what was so funny but for some reason, it had her laughing so hard that she fell over onto the floor, struggling to breath.
In time, her laughter got really annoying so I threw the switchblade into the intercom which completely destroyed it and cut off that annoying sound.
Nulara dropped onto her knees while clutching her throat in fear of nearly having her life taken away from her. "You ... You didn't..."
"My friend and I came here to save you so I won't kill you. I'm gonna break you out of here and send your somewhere safe, until then .. try not to be a nuisance"
Nulara slowly looked up at me and for a couple of passing seconds, she seemed to admire what I looked at from behind. The fall of my wavy black hair which reminded her of a certain somebody that she hasn't seen in a long time.
"Now stand up and stay behind me" I ordered before I approached the metal bars and held onto them. Nulara quietly followed behind me while keeping some distance between us but Erin on the other hand, walked right through the bars and stood on the other side, facing me.
"What are you gonna do? If I remember correctly .. only a certain somebody could actually help you overcome orphonium crystals but ... you hate her. Are you gonna ask mommy for help?" She asked me when she leaned forward to see what I was gonna do.
After the little girl finished laughing at me, she finally picked herself up from the ground and climbed back into her seat. There, she happened to see me through one of the many computer monitors which displayed images from certain angles of their hideout, capturing video in real-time. "Hey ... what is she doing?"
"Shut up..." I said when I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The sound of tin crying or screaming was heard when I slowly started bending the orphonium bars which seemed to have shocked Nulara and the little girl watching us.
"What the?!! How the hell is she doing that?!!" The little girl demanded to know after she leaned in forward with her face now inches away from the monitor capturing my performance. The monitor camera capturing the inside of our cell started distorting with unannounced glitches, making it very difficult to see what happened next. The little girl waited for a while until the camera finally went back online, causing the little girl to scream in absolute terror and confusion.
Erin stood on the other side, inches away from the camera and making silly facial expressions to throw them off. Naturally, the little girl never really saw Erin but did notice that the prison bars were bent wide enough for us to pass through and the cell was completely empty.
After the girl fell off of the chair and onto her butt, she stopped for a moment of realisation before she burst out into laughter again like a psycho. "Hehehehehahhahaahahah!!! It seems we're in for a good treat"
On my side, I ran down the empty corridors as fast as humanly possible considering that Nulara can't keep up with me. I however pulled her along with me by her hand so that she wouldn't separate from me but thankfully, Erin wasn't following me. To make matters worse, the alarms suddenly went off simultaneously which alerted all of the guards in this dungeon.
As soon as we reached a corner, one of the armed thugs ran this way but as soon as she came out, I lifted the barrel of her assault rifle as high as possible which alarmed her and led to her pulling the trigger. A couple of deafening gunshots went off near my ear but to satiate my own frustrations, I drove my right foot into the knee of this womean and broke her leg as fast as she pulled the trigger. She screamed in agony before I released the gun and drove my right knee her against the side of the head, sending her head colliding into the wall with enough force to leave a splatter of blood onto the wall.
Nulara gasped when she witnessed the brutality of my attack but instead of having her watch, I turned around the corner only to see three armed women. They noticed me instantly and immediately began firing but I pulled back and hid behind the corner for my own safety as ear-splitting gunfire blitz passed my ears and struck the wall across from me.
"There she is! Let's go!" One of the women exclaimed after they found me.
"Don't shoot the girl. If you do, the boss will have our heads" Another women explained which gave me an idea.
The three armed thugs cautiously advanced forward while keeping their guns trained on my last known position. With only several feet between us, I rushed out of hiding while using Nulara as a human shield. The thugs immediately started firing to which Nulara screamed at the top of her lungs out of fear but one of the thugs quickly stopped the others from firing.
"Hey! Stop firing!" The thug demanded but as soon as they stopped, I pushed Nulara into one of the thugs but when the thug caught her, I leaped up and drove my foot into her face with a flying side kick but now that I was free, the rest began wildly firing at me. I kicked off of the side of the wall and propelled myself over them while avoiding any violent gunfire.
After I touched the other wall, I propelled myself down into one of the thugs and knocked them out instantly with an attack to the back of her head. The last thug quickly took several steps to the back to create some space between us but when she continued her barrage of gunfire, I rolled out of the way and proceeded to rush forward from side to side at an abnormal velocity.
Each and every bullet avoided me when I passed by all of them before I pushed the barrel of her rifle upward, redirecting the gunfire and jabbed her throat. She choked for a second but it all ended when I pulled the rifle out of her hands, spun and kicked her in the chest with enough force to send her soaring.
The first woman I attacked then picked herself up but as soon as she alerted me, I fired several bullets into her torso without looking, which splattered some droplets of blood onto Nulara's face after the thug collapsed right in front of her.
"Come on, keep up. Don't let any of the blood bother you" I ordered while reloading the submachine gun. Without my aether energy, I guess I'll have to rely on this open-bolt, blowback-operated submachine gun, otherwise known as the Uzi. I've never really enjoyed using firearms because they're too loud and cowardly but if it means getting my revenge on these pricks then so be it.
"Hehehehehe. Guardian of the week right here ladies. Did anyone ever tell you that you should be an elementary school teacher? ... or a babysitter because you'd be perfect for the job" Erin joked after she suddenly appeared beside me, leaning up against the wall for back support.
Nulara remained frozen still, staring the corpse at her feet, laying in a pool of her own filthy blood. The warm droplets of blood on her face only added to the trauma of witnessing death right in front of her.
Amidst the deafening sirens, two more thugs came from around the corner behind us but I immediately turned around and started firing at them. One of the thugs was struck in the face before she dropped but the other immediately hid behind the corner for her own safety.
"Boss! I found her!" The thug said after hiding behind cover.
"Come on" I ordered, taking Nulara by her hand and quickly running in the opposite direction, towards the door at the end of the corridor. The women eventually came out of cover and quickly started firing at us but her aim was as weak as her confidence because all of the bullets missed us.
After I opened the door, I hurriedly picked Nulara up and turned around, shielding her from the rest of the violent gunfire and running through the door. Unfortunately, before I could close it behind me, one of the bullets struck me in the back of my right shoulder, knocking me down and leaving in me recovery while on one knee. Thankfully, the door slammed shut behind me but instead of recovering in my own agony, I released Nulara and stood up to lock the metal door.
"Y-Your shoulder..." Nulara called out to me and tried to warn me of the blood leaking from the bullet wound.
"It's fine .. I'm fine. Are you hurt?"
Nulara didn't say anything so I looked behind me and saw her nodding her head.
"Good. It isn't over yet. Come on" I said, walking passed her and expecting her to stand up on her own.
"Oh come on. At least help the poor girl out. You can't seriously expect her to compose herself after watching you mercilessly murder those women" Erin suggested when she walked passed me and approached Nulara. "Hey there little girl .. Maddy is a big meanie isn't she?"
Nulara lowered her head and passed right through Erin after she decided to follow behind me. It's good that she still has the strength to listen to me. I need her to be strong right now, not an innocent child that'll jeopardise our safety because of her childish qualms.
"Wow, you really hate kids don't you?" Erin asked me after she caught up and walked beside me.
I ignored her as usual when I reached the stairway, leading up to the metal door at the top. To remain as quiet as possible, I silently continued up to the top but stopped at the door because something felt off. With my hand on the cold rough door, I lowered my head and closed my eyes to concentrate.
Amidst all of the noise, I couldn't hear the rapid footsteps of thugs searching the entire hideout anymore.
"What's wrong? Scared?" Erin playfully questioned but my ignorance remained.
It seems that my intuition was correct. On the other side of that door, were several armed thugs, training their guns at the same door separating us from an entire bombardment of gunfire. The room on the other side was a cafeteria and all of the thugs were standing behind the cover of flipped tables, waiting patiently for anyone to open that door and walk straight into their deaths.
"Is she seriously going to come through those doors?" One of the thugs wondered while trying to ignore the beads of sweat falling from her forehead.
"She has to if she wants to leave" Another thug answered her.
"Don't keep your eyes off of that door you idiots!! She's here" That annoying little girl ordered through their communication network. All of the thugs prepared themselves for my entrance and waited patiently.
The little girl sat up on the chair with her knees up to her head, slurping ramen noodles. Before her was all of the holographic monitors, capturing video footage from all of the camera's in the area. One camera specifically stood out because it was displaying footage at the top of the stairway, displaying Nulara and I on the other side of that door.
"Found youuuu .. you can't hide from me"
I looked behind myself at the camera, situated on the wall just above the stairway with a clear view of Nulara and I but this only fascinated the girl watching us. To her surprise, the footage suddenly went offline, returning to nothing but static video.
"Looks like she's out of the orphoniums wavelength. How is she going to handle this?" The girl asked out loud when she set the empty noodle container on the desk.
The handle on the metal door then moved down indicating to everyone that it was time to fire. A loud bang frightened all of the thugs when the door suddenly flew off of its hinges and nearly crashed into one of the women. Thankfully for them, they dived out of the way in time but this already created the breach in their formation that I needed.
They all stared at the metal door which slowly fell onto the floor, leaving a deep door-sized indentation in the wall. Others turned to the empty doorframe but saw no one, not even Nulara.
What they did see was the gate of a ventilation shaft lying on the floor in front of the doorframe.
"What happened?" One of the thugs questioned out of fear.
"Stop screwing around! Come on! She's gotta be here somewhere!" Another thug exclaimed before she picked her submachine gun up and quickly ran up to the doorframe to investigate what could've kicked that heavy door off of its hinges.
"How did she kick that door in? Fuck .. is she an aether-practitioner? Is she a knight?!" One of the women panicked out of fear.
"Come on, don't panic. She's only one girl" Another woman reassured her.
Before they could leave the cafeteria, the sprinkler system suddenly activated itself and started spraying cold water from the ceiling. Everyone stopped to examine the ceiling before turning to each other in bewilderment.
"Did sis do that?" One of the thugs asked.
"I don't know"
"Hey sis, someone just activated the sprinklers. Did you do that?" One of the woman -possibly the leader- called in but received no response from that little girl. She waited for several more seconds but still received nothing.
"What's going on? What did sis say?" Another woman asked out of curiosity.
"I don't know. She's not responding" The leader explained before she finally received word.
"Hey!! Get out of there! Now!! You're all going to die!!!" The little girl hurriedly warned them as soon as she could finally reach them but by then, it was already too late. One of the higher ventilation gates suddenly flew off of its hinges and onto the floor but before it even landed, my shoes already touched the wet ground while a trail of green electricity trailed behind me from the ventilation shaft.
"There she is!!!" One of the women exclaimed but before either of them could fire, I planted my hands into the water and unleashed as much electricity as my body could generate right now. The sound of a hundred chirping birds echoed off the walls of the cafeteria as flashes of green lightning circulated through the water and electrocuted every single person in the room. Alongside the melody of chirping birds, their torturous screams created the harmony I needed to stay satisfied. Steam started filling the entire room followed by the scent of burning meat and when I knew that they were all finally dead, I stopped.
Their lifeless bodies all dropped into the puddles like domino's while I stood up and shook the water off of my hands.
"You can come out now. It's safe" I said, calling out to Nulara who was still hiding in the ventilation shaft. I looked over my shoulder at the vent and noticed that she was too scared to drop from that height, especially into water that was still electrified. "Don't worry, the water won't hurt you. Come on"
I approached the wall and stood beneath the vent, waiting there to catch her when she falls. She took some time to regain her composure before she finally climbed out of the vent and dropped back down into my arms. For her sake, I kept her in my arms because she was still afraid of the water.
"Oh look at you, you really do care for children after all. Come on, drop her in the water and see what happens. Will she scream and cry out for her mommy? .. Probably or will she end up like all of the other poor souls in the room?" Erin joked around playfully while floating in the water as if it was deep. She really is a figment of my imagination because she seems to be able to do whatever she desires despite the circumstances.
"Wow, you really mean business don't you?" The little girl asked me through one of the intercoms in the room. "Hacking into the sprinkler system and even disabling our communication network. What else do you have up your sleeve?"
...
...
...
"I didn't just hack into the residential sprinkler systems. I can see the circulation of power throughout the entire hideout, from the sprinkler systems to the lights, from the lights to everything else powered by your electric generators" I explained when I looked up at the security camera in the room.
"Oh?"
"And while you're at it, for your own safety, you should stop eating so much noodles in the dark. Your security room is filthy" I told her before one of the holographic monitors turned to static. Soon enough, more of the camera's throughout the entire hideout went offline, capturing nothing for the little girl to see. All of those monitors then started relaying the footage from the security camera in this cafeteria so that she knows I mean business. "I already know where you are and there's no use trying to hide. I don't need all of these devices to find you"
The lights in the security room then switched on, allowing me to see just how much of a mess this room was. Not only was she eavesdropping on me in a dark room but she was absolutely destroying her diet with tons of cheap junk food in front of her setup. The little girl looked up at the ceiling after the lights turned on but instead of showing fear, her mouth formed into a blissfull little grin.
"Something funny?" I asked.
"Heh ... hehe ... heheh hehehehehahhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!" Her slow effortless giggles soon turned into outright maniacal laughter, enough to even make her drool. When she inhaled deeply after her laughter, she brought her attention back to the monitors in front of her. "Yes ... this is absolutely hilarious. I knew you electrokinetics were powerful but I had no idea you were this interesting. I WANT you ... I NEED you .... tell me. What is your name?! My name is Delirus! What is yours?!!"
"Madison. Delirus ... I promise. I will kill you. I will kill all of your friends involved in the Monarchy. I'll kill your leaders, your politicians and all of those involved in the crimes orchestrated by this organisation. You will ALL pay dearly for killing my friend" I warned her in apathy, separate from my usual tone. "But I want them all to know that I'm coming for them. Do me a favour and tell your superiors. It all ends tonight"
"And ... and are you telling the truth? Will you really kill me?" She implored but I just nodded my head to which she responded in blissful joy. Her whole face lit up and her cheeks blushed before she nodded her head excitedly like a child. "Okay!!!"
TO BE CONTINUED...
The humming continued. A terrifying harmony resonated with the heart of the listener who saw a silhouette, blissfully humming under the rays of the sun which artistically burst through the spaces between tree branches and leaves that began overgrowing throughout the streets of the city. The old ruins of buildings were dead silent and empty but the little silhouette remained sitting in the center of the overgrown forest, encroaching on what was left of the city. She crossed her legs and joyfully raised her head to the warm rays of the light.
