Chapter 5 - The True Love

Today was the day Tama had been waiting for—the full moon would appear tonight.

He was filled with joy because it meant a day off. All the villa's staff were equally excited; on this special day, they could return to their human forms without using any magic.

Tama stepped out of his room and took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. He spotted Kirana and Denok setting up a booth outside.

"What are you two doing?" Tama asked, curious.

"We're getting ready for work," Denok replied.

"Work? What kind of work?"

"Hey, shut up. You're off today. When you're off, I have to work—so you can get paid," Kirana snapped.

"Whoa… I almost forgot to ask—where's my salary?"

"Denok, give him his salary. Since he's only been working for a few weeks, give him three million rupiah," Kirana instructed.

Tama's eyes lit up. Three million rupiah! That was more than a valet's average monthly wage. And he had only been working for a few weeks. If he stayed longer, he could make a fortune.

Tama wondered how Kirana made so much money every full moon. But today was too precious to waste on curiosity. He had a goal: meet Nadia.

That day, the villa resurfaced, rising from the lake under the light of the full moon. It felt vibrant—alive. But the villa remained isolated; long ago, when the castle sank, the nearby village had been abandoned.

"Huah... the air's so cool. I can finally breathe like a human again," Tama said, walking around.

While exploring, he came across a small temple. It looked like a grave—flower petals were scattered around it—but there was no tombstone. Tama couldn't tell who was buried there.

Later, he passed by Mr. Udin's room and found him playing a bamboo flute.

"Sir, aren't you going out today?" Tama asked.

"All my family is gone... there's no one left to visit," Mr. Udin said with a soft smile.

"Oh, I see... Well, I'll head back to get ready then."

"Be careful," Mr. Udin replied.

On his way to his room, Tama saw Limbur chopping wood and decided to ask about the mysterious grave.

"Oh, that? That's General John Willem's grave," Limbur answered.

"General John Willem? Who was he?"

"He was a Dutch general... and the princess's ex-fiancé."

Limbur then told Tama the tragic love story of Princess Kirana.

"Actually, we were this close to becoming human again," Limbur began. "But the day before Princess Kirana's wedding, General Willem was killed… by her own younger brother, Prince Wardhana—the crown prince."

The general had been accused of being a spy for the Dutch, even though he had secretly worked for King Sanjaya. He sent false information to mislead the Queen of the Netherlands, who had planned to colonize the kingdom. But despite his loyalty, both the King and Prince Wardhana had lost trust in him.

They hunted him down for execution.

General Willem fled and hid near the lake, protected by Princess Kirana. She transformed into her snake form to distract her brother—but Prince Wardhana, startled, hurled his spear. General Willem came out of hiding to protect her and was struck in her place.

He died in her arms.

She buried him in what later became Princess Villa.

To this day, King Sanjaya and Prince Wardhana believed Kirana had died in the disaster that sank the castle. They never knew about the wedding that was supposed to take place that night—nor that it would have broken the curse.

"The Princess is still waiting... for the General's reincarnation," Limbur said quietly.

Tama was moved by the story. Kirana had waited for centuries for her lost love. Meanwhile, he still had the chance to meet his own love—even if they were now from different worlds. That day, Tama made a decision: he would help find General Willem's reincarnation, but after he fulfilled his own mission—confessing his love to Nadia.

As evening approached, Tama prepared to leave for Jakarta using Kirana's carriage—now transformed into a car.

But this time, the golden carriage had only become a regular sedan, not the flashy sports car from before.

"Eh? Why is it just a regular car? What happened to the sporty one?" Tama asked.

"If you want to go on a date, invest a little effort. Do you want this or not? I can send it back to the garage," Kirana threatened.

"No, no! I'll take it!" Tama replied quickly.

Tama arrived in Jakarta and found Nadia's house. Excitement rushed through him—he couldn't wait any longer. He knocked on the door, and to his surprise, it was Nadia's mother who welcomed him.

"Well, Tama! Come in, come in. It's been so long! What have you been up to?" she asked kindly.

"Oh, I'm working at a villa now," Tama answered.

"Wow, that sounds like a nice job!"

Moments later, Nadia arrived—just back from work. Her eyes lit up when she saw him.

"Tamaaa! I missed you so much! Where have you been?"

"Oh, just working at the villa. What about you?"

"I'm working as an accountant at a mining company."

"That's amazing!"

Since they hadn't seen each other in a long time, Nadia invited Tama to the night market near her house. They rode the mini Ferris wheel, laughed together, and enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere.

As the Ferris wheel slowed, Tama finally confessed his feelings for her.

And Nadia accepted.

Tama was overjoyed. After all these years, the woman he loved loved him back.

While walking through the market, they noticed a tent with a long line—a fortune teller. Curious, Nadia dragged Tama to get in line. After a long wait, it was finally their turn.

They stepped inside.

Tama froze. The fortune teller… was Kirana.

But both of them acted as if they didn't know each other.

Nadia asked about her future. Kirana spoke vaguely, giving a mysterious prophecy. When the session ended, Tama and Nadia exited the tent and went off to enjoy some late-night street food.

As they strolled through the market, a man accidentally bumped into Tama. Tama turned—and his heart skipped a beat.

The man's face... it looked exactly like the man from his dream. The man who had stood beside Kirana—the Dutch general.

Could it be...? Is he the reincarnation of General Willem?
